a lot less hot on this one on second watch, just really failing to connect with the soul or emotion here. i feel that the progression of the story isn't quite elegant or something. i think the most i relate to is how certain tragedies and drama can lead you to question your faith and maybe even religion as a whole. however personally i am past that point in my life lol

i don't think i have any other new thoughts to add to this film(s) (it's actually meant to be a single 10-hour film) other than it is a towering work of art. during the post-screening q&a wang said something along the lines of "these are ordinary people who may not have anything special about them, and i want their lives recorded to a film" and that's probably going to stick with me for eternity
