TCM reminding us of the plight of the civil servant

A forgettable Vitaphone short with some memorable actors in unmemorable performances. I can't figure why TCM programmed this today — a music-less short on a day featuring Heinz Roemheld's scores.

Pixelation as memory (or lack thereof). I've never seen an animation technique quite like this and found it hauntingly effective.

This is plenty derivative of Lost in Austen, Austenland, etc., but on the Hallmark curve it's a breath of fresh air. Eliza Bennett (really?) is terrific, there's an almost-natural Taylor Swift reference, and plenty (that is, very little) Sarah Ferguson.
