Just when I was checking my watch things shift up 10 notches. The subject matter and stories are heavy and heart breaking from go, but the second half…

It’s a solemn long night meeting these women who seventy years prior suffered out of sight in the Second World War, and then suffered on in silence afterwards. Out of sight and hindsight.

It’s important to know these stories. The survivors know that and the documentary shows it.

Out of the blue I realised I wanted to rewatch The Martian. Perhaps it was because my situation here in the South Island this last week has some parallels with Mark’s struggle. Fortunately, like Mark, I will soon return to my crew.
