Kind of a perfect doc
]]>GTA VI can't get here fast enough. Feels like movies are trying to be video games minus the fun,
]]>I forgot how hilarious and terrifying this film is.
]]>No matter how you slice it this is the first modern action film. The fact that takes place in the same city as the 2nd modern action film (Dirty Harry) really shows the impact this film has. My god. That chase.
]]>This movies makes no damn sense. A movie that is destined to run on TNT forever. Enjoyed the hell out of it
]]>We are all meat waiting to be slaughtered or sold.
]]>Just a pure uncut gem of genre trash masterpiece
]]>"You've shown me your true self, and what I love was the lie... A perfect lie, that's been destroyed
]]>I think this a good enough excuse to say Buddy Guy gave my college commencement speech
]]>It's been a long time since I watched. Kind of starting to feel this is the greatest Harmony Korine film that he didn't make.
]]>There's moments where you squint just right and this feels like a family film in a John Waters universe.
Not good but strange
]]>Had way more Takeshi Kitano vibes than I expected. Would definitely watch the next film from this director
]]>There's something about horror movies made in 1995. The cheapness and the competency with bad scripts really feels like the end of an era.
Scream had to come out in 1996 and eradicate this era, but it's dying breath is so entertaining
]]>Burn the motherfucking house down
]]>For a movie about grief and the unending horror of it, this film manages to be pretty funny and sexy in a way only Cronenberg could do
]]>Watched on Sunday April 13, 2025.
]]>Watched on Sunday April 13, 2025.
]]>4 star action set pieces and while a little dry a very nice Western chemistry between Sutherland and Phillips
]]>3rd movie of the Mullets and Bullets Marathon
]]>A precision piece of pulp that rides the razor thin line between action and horror. A new to me masterpiece of genre. Deakins had to have studied this one
]]>First movie in the Mullets and Bullets Marathon
]]>Finishing off the 8th movie in the Sicko Movie Marathon. Walter Hill and John Milius try to top the Wild Bunch.
]]>#7 Movie in the Sicko Void Marathon
]]>Sometimes a few clever death horror effects is all you need.
#6 movie of the Sicko Void Marathon
]]>The ass kicking I needed around #5 in Sicko Void Marathon
]]>What an ending. Need to rewatch but the film is excellent and is deserving of the reappraisal around it.
#4 of the Sicko Movie Marathon
]]>Honestly I love it more with each watch
#3 of the Sicko Movie Marathon.
]]>Never grabbed an interesting tone to me. Weak performances everywhere and not enough cool stuff.
#2 of Sicko Void Movie Marathon
]]>One of my favorite sequels of all time. Ideas and images from this have filtered into my work without even realizing where I stole them from. One of the best faces of all time.
#1st movie of the Sicko Void Movie marathon
]]>So the perfect amount of 90s trash. Brooke Adams carries this on her shoulder. But early 90s Kathy Griffin and Lisa Kudrow sharing a scene together is worth it alone. The odd TV movie look mixed with bizarre camera work scratched the right issue.
]]>Watched on Monday March 31, 2025.
]]>Watched on Sunday March 30, 2025.
]]>A new favorite. Like Araki and Waters at their best. Will be revisiting.
]]>I kind of expected this to be more of a fun hang. Yuppie whine the movie
]]>I was not expecting this to have a killer synth score
]]>Not good but delivered exactly the experience I was hoping for.
]]>Joey Pants all time Chicago accent in this. The Wachowski sisters were already making the Matrix from the opening credits.
]]>Go in blind and enjoy. The performances in this is what truly elevates it into something special in the 2nd half
]]>The first hour of this was absolutely exhilarating. Who knew Diane Keaton had this kind of performance in her. One of the best of the 70s. Kind of the Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me of its era.
Richard Brooks I was not familiar with your game. Also Gere and Atherton are terrifying in this. The Godfather joke killed me
]]>Tom Cruise, Jack Black, Ben Stiller, RDJ, McConaughey, Coogan, Danny McBride, Nick Nolte, Bill Hader. An absolute murderers' row for a dumb studio comedy, we did not know how good we had it.
]]>Trash
]]>Godard's "Not Like Us" with Spielberg as Drake
]]>3 stars for Jack Deth.
]]>I had to kept reminding myself this wasn't a dream/nightmare I was having while resting on my head on Apple 2 keyboard as Myst played in the background in 1995. Pyun can make anything cyberpunk. Laugh all you want. The Wachowski's were paying attention
]]>Italians will really shamelessly knockoff anything. This Road Warrior clone worked for me. Especially so many sequence mirror later George Miller ideas. Of course poorly executed in this film.
Worked for me far more than I thought
Nic Cage just always had it. L.A neon light up scene that made Tarantino jealous.
]]>One of the few pure Gen X films I approve of.
]]>I tend to dislike most coming of age summer films. A byproduct of reading an endless amount of these in film schools.
But this film managed to channel some of the best versions of this genre, while still managing to feel personal. Also a great all time teen performance by Sammy Fabelman himself.
]]>Fun. But just kept thinking of the better movies it was trying to emulate.
]]>Kind of the best romcom I've seen in a while.
]]>For the counterfeit gentlemen. Movies discussed or that inspire Adam, Jasmine, and l as we create Deadbeats.

]]>This and Apocalypse now are both Vietnam films written by Milius that involve surfing. No one sees humans as god in ruin quite like him.
The deep quiet connection that only comes from talking to strangers across a computer screen.
Suzuki let loose in the ordinary world is a sight to see.
A perverted Wes Anderson film. With more visual gags.
Leone sure knows how to fill a frame.
The kind of film you need to take a shower after.

]]>Quick fights, fun framing, cheap hits. Action movie homework
Rooftop fight for the win
He beats another dude senseless with another guys head.
The brutal quickness of the prison fights.
The warehouse fight in blue darkness and the brothers fight in the abandoned mansion.
The golf course in massacre in broad daylight is in incredible
The fight between Willis and Karl Urban in the office. It's a fun way to use two actors that don't have spectacular fight moves.
The brutality and proximity of the bus fight scene. The straw in the throat. The stop requested sign. Always use the elements to build a fight scene
The fight at the shipyard has multiple good punches and hits in a inventive way. The rest is a CGI wire work goop. But a few moments really click
The murder by the lockers
