There's magic in this brutallity. I'm mesmerized by it.

Korine's goriest and most demonic i've seen so far. A truly dark film of/for its time. Arguably the 1st mainstream arthouse feature film to incorporate "AI" imagery. Truly beyond uncanny. (And quite funny.)

Also, his most visually abstract (haven't seen him go off in minidv on Donkey Boy): at some point, the colorful, thermal shots of intelligible human actors morph into steampunk representations of the underground/hell. Won't easily forget the wifey…

Carol’s birthday speech is a standout in many incredible scenes throughout; it allows Moore to brilliantly deliver the thesis of the film.
The representation of life usurped of meaning, an amorphous subjectivity in the realm of structural misogyny. Alienation as a cure for a self-imposed, autophagic toxicity.

He’s just very, very afraid. Afraid to eat. Afraid to breath.

This film is truly haunting.
