Was the moral of "Barbarian" that you should never help or care about anyone but yourself because everyone was seemingly punished for being kind in the film.
She was punished for going back for Keith, she was punished for going back for TJ, the homeless guy was punished for helping her and even the inbred "monster" was punished for caring about her at the end. If that's the message...good job I guess???
