I don’t agree with the common sentiment that Disney live-action remakes are automatically evil but this was one of the least exciting for me. I can see why people haven’t warmed to the first part with all its flashbacks and reused clips but I didn’t feel that way. I thought it felt more like a victory lap celebrating some of the franchise’s most epic moments. It was like the film was giving itself a well-earned pat on the back for all the cinematic joy it’s given the audience over the last three decades, and I say it’s definitely deserving of that self-love.
