wonderfully insightful bildungsroman meshed with strong performances. seems inspired by wes anderson, clever cinematography and constantly humorous through the lens of its neurodivergent protagonist. a clever, heartwarming story of young love, and identity. some points the dialogue is awkward, but it works within the childlike inability of the characters to express themselves.

Wonderful dialogue, masterful editing, and interesting and insightful age on youth that brings with it originality despite covering many themes that feel all too well known in teen dramas e.g. social status, self worth etc. Portrayal of relationships absolutely wonderful - especially the mother-daughter bond.

tragically depressing, but powerful narrative of the grief & horror of war, contrasted against flashes of it’s glorification. beautiful visuals. i was kinda left thinking maybe he should’ve gone back to the aunts tho earlier on…? still, heartbreaking regardless.
