“Darling…what’s that mean, Darling?” - Dorinda Medley
]]>Buddy Slade I have received your coded messages and I am on my way
]]>The Final Destination series is pretty consistent in there’s now five out of six films in it that I would say are solid 3/3.5 star affairs and tbh I love that!
Happy to report that this one might be in the upper half of the series alongside 2 and 3; it’s definitely the funniest (intentionally, anyway), and it might be the most mean-spirited (complimentary). Nothing touches the tanning-beds-to-coffins cut in 3, but there are some really great set pieces to be found. I’d love to see if the franchise can up itself and make something even stronger next time (Saw X as an example), but honestly this one is fun and nasty, which at the end of the day is what’s needed.
Tony Todd scene very moving, too?

]]>Up until the last thirty minutes, Another Simple Favor could easily be handed three stars if you’re feeling silly, two stars if you’re feeling critical, or one star if you’re brutally honest. But after those first ninety minutes - after all of the martinis, wigs, and Henry Golding ass shots - the film veers into territory so…weird…that I simply do not know where it exists in the world of my personal letterboxd diary. And I think that’s beautiful.
]]>When Lola Kirke pops up in a movie to play one half of an antagonistic duo >>>
Even though I’m not sure if the films climax (and pre-credits “ending”) fully worked for me !BUT! honestly everything else in here is just so so good. Really loved a lot of the characters and how they each get at least one or two great moments (Wunmi Mosaku!). The much-hyped musical sequence is so stellar, though I also really loved the “Will Ye Go, Lassie Go” scene with Mary and the initial trip.
]]>You know what I had fun!
]]>This is literally just a regular night when you take me to Cheesecake Factory
]]>Made me cry a little on an airplane, and that is one of the best things a film can do.
]]>Now this one kinda gagged me not gonna lie…went in to my screening (on an airplane television screen) blind and honestly really liked most of this? Really well-crafted, surprising, nasty, etc. Kinda peaks a little early for me, but still made me gasp in the process.
]]>Watched on an airplane and I did not enjoy this 🫶. Very “we have Heartstopper at home” which pains me because Josh O’Connor is a KING to me…the final talent show performance kinda reminded me of Francine Frensky performing her song “You Can Fly If You Try” in that one episode of Arthur.
]]>So I said to him “if you say OLD SPORT one more time…”…….and he did
]]>Can confirm that this hits just as hard when watching on an airplane
]]>Theo James In Glasses I am free on Thursday night unless I already have plans with Theo James With Mullet….
Really liked it, then really didn’t, then ended up really liking it again! It may be an idea that deserved to stay a short story as opposed to feature length film, but I was still charmed and tickled by Osgood’s approach to the whole “death is inevitable” message. For every ehhh joke there’s probably two funny ones, so I’m happy.

]]>Fincher’s three-film combo of this, TGWTDT, and Gone Girl 🥲. I totally forgot that Eisenberg was nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars for this, though I wish Garfield was as well. Also I kinda gave Rooney Mara grief the other day for her work as “ex-girlfriend” in HER, but she eats it up here! Does so much with so little; I’ve always randomly thought about that one face she makes during the Facesmash sequence.
]]>Chris Pratt jumpscare…ScarJo sounding like a Delaney Rowe character…Rooney Mara getting the HER-ified take on “home video flashbacks of dead wife”…there are def a few reasons why I could easily loathe this movie !BUT! I feel like the back half really saves it for me.
A very quiet and comforting Amy Adams ing performance, too. She’s really lovely in this!

“Would it kill you to stand up for her just once?!” - you just KNOW David Koepp was the embodiment of that “Alyssa Edwards Writing Jokes” meme when he wrote that one
Some really tough scripting and acting moments in this one for me, sadly
]]>Before you two mormon girls are two doors. Both of them lead to the same disappointing movie :((((
When it took almost 60 minutes to get them into the dungeon I knew we were in trouble. Thought this would be a lot more FUN given how much I actually like Beck and Woods’ previous horror outing Haunt, but here we are…
]]>Finally an Oscar contender that does not go over 90 minutes am I right guys

]]>This movie is SOOO crazy like I have to giggle and laugh…Hugh Jackman playing an ambiguous age that could be anything from 19-50…Zendaya being flung from one side of the set to the other while wearing a P!nk wig…Michelle Williams and Rebecca Ferguson failing the bechdel test left right and center…the songs are BANGERS though‼️

]]>Truthfully I've never been a HUGE fan of musical theatre and so I had never seen any iteration of Wicked at all up until now, so it was kinda fun going into a big ticket film event like this having no attachment or expectations!
Happy to say that I really, really liked this. It’s clear that Chu has such a genuine love for the source material, and the whole film quite literally sings because of this. Ariana and Cynthia are great, and I also really liked Jonathan Bailey a lot too? I was charmed 😜🧙♀️.
I’m not entirely sure I loooove a 2:40 “Part 1” after watching this, though. I feel like I need to see Part 2 to really get an appreciation for “the whole story”, and then I’ll be able to hopefully like certain subplots and beats a little better.
Honestly my biggest criticism is one that’s been discussed to death, BUT: it’s disappointing that this film - with such beautiful production design and lead performances - is ultimately bogged down by…not looking good lol. The lighting decisions are pretty awful, and however said the whole thing looks like a credit card commercial kinda spilled. BUT I still very much liked my trip to Oz and am excited for Part 2!
]]>A double feature with this and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo where we then sit in long, dark silence afterwards 😍
