watched the unfinished version on discord and jesus christ what a bad movie. wasn't even that fun to watch this time around other than to laugh at the unfinished stuff like dennis just being a red thing and seeing some people in villager costumes. theater experience really carries this

Oh thank you lord for not taking away Ryan Cooglers talent when he left to help Marvels imperialistic aims. The man absolutely has the juice. Awesome movie, Michael B Jordan turns in an absolute movie superstar performance. And what would the world be if Ludwig Goransson had not met Ryan Coogler? The music in this is absolutely incredible, it’s hypnotizing, so many great scenes where it just takes your breath away. The score + dancing was so incredible. This thing is an American Blockbuster.

Great ensemble cast, we got CHARLES GREENE, perfect guy to be a bouncer in the 1930s. That’s a future pro bowl lineman.

Seeing palpatine say “I am the Senate” on the big screen is awesome

Not sure if I should give this 5 stars or 1-2 because I’ve been waiting like 6+ years for this movie and if it wasn’t going to be a documentary/love story, it would be atleast silly and respectful to the game that has meant so much to me right? Right? Nearly 15 years of playing this game. One of the most important things in my life yet this was only silly really…

Really wasn’t sure of what else to expect from a Jack Black Minecraft movie. He’s like the perfect guy for this. It was really funny, a lot of stupid and this movie is bad funny but like “he’s Swedish” and “jeep grand Cherokee” was incredible. 

I said it wasnt respectful to Minecraft and while yeah it definitely wasn’t respectful it also was at points. I was getting mad at it. “Full diamond set” but no pants??? Dudes got a million diamonds but 1 ender pearl??? The “creeper farm” is a pre beta mob farm. Enchanting was completely absent for Steve and co yet every skeleton had a flame bow lol. Nothing was called a block, “slime cube”. Kinda disappointed by the lack of redstone, we got a door but that was the most advanced thing. Wish there was an etho reference, like EATS or a hopper clock but alas. Just pigs? So many mobs and we just got piglins…

But hey on that note we got Java redstone, like QUASI CONNECTIVITY LETS GOOO, pretty sure mumbo advised them on redstone. The intro was great with the world creation. Cried when we heard C418 for the first time. They gave Stewart a place in the village (Oliver heads know). ALSO JEB AS THE WAITER LIKE YES YES YES, I was the only one of my friend group that noticed that.

Saw it in imax and the theater was mostly empty sadly. Lastly TWENTY EIGHT SCREENWRITERS?!?!? That shows so much. What a mess lol, but an incredible mess.

Keke Palmer is so incredible man, words do not do her justice, maybe she should run for President. Very very funny movie, Money Mike Katt Williams needs to be in more movies like cmon now. Put him in Dune Messiah, we need more of him.

Anyways good movie, was making some custom trees in Minecraft while watching. Definitely a bit boring at times but I guess like M3gan I’m really not all that captivated or scared by a killer AI.

Good gory fun! Pretty funny, definitely had some laugh out loud moments. The cast was great. Jack Quaid is awesome, he’s on the Shouldn’t Be Called A Nepo Baby Mt Rushmore. Mike McLintock is in this like cmon man it’s gonna be good. 

The first like 30 minutes, before yknow the whole Taken/John Wick story starts was awesome. Favorite part of the movie was the ghost pepper scene.

Also I get the Deadpool comps but this is much more similar to Crank than Deadpool which is a good thing and I don’t want to hear it. Like cmon he even pumps himself up with epinephrine like Chev Chelios. Watch Crank, might be the most underrated gory action movie

You can tell where Zaslav/WB took scissors and glue to the movie but you can’t hold down Bong Joon-ho. Robert Pattinson is awesome and the rest of the cast was solid, Ruffalo could’ve been better imo. But some Simpsons level predictions/parallels with Ruffalo/Trump. Of course the themes/messages of the movie were great and awesome because it’s Bong Joon-ho. Thought the ending was quite good despite WBs efforts to make the movie a mess and muddle the ending. 

Also love it when an Elliott Smith song pops up in a movie

its completely fine, cant believe they gave timothee the nomination for this over dune, oscar voters have some crazy recency bias sometimes. the acting in this is great though, elle fanning and monica barbaro did a lot with pretty little to work with. barbaro was just better than timothee, pretty clear imo, deserved an oscar. edward norton makes any movie better.

other than that it felt kinda phoned in, not the biggest bob dylan fan anyways so like the music wasn't what i came here for it but yknow the highlights are still good.

Tim Duncan has The Big Fundamental, Tim Lincecum has Big Time Timmy Jim (elite nickname) and The Freak. if timothee wants to go down as one of the greats, he needs a nickname that transcends his actual name. Sweet Tea/Tian Cha is great but havent seen anyone really call him that over timothee but maybe I dont talk to the right people. personally I dont like any of the "lil tim" ones like LeBron aint being called The Prince, hes The King. hopefully Tian Cha grows in popularity because its awesome and creative unlike "Himothee" or "Lil Timmy Tim" or "Timmy"

If dune messiah is awesome, kills it at the box office and timothee brings home an Oscar for it. I think The Messiah is it.

Let’s go big Sean, so glad that he’s reached the mountaintop, he will actually get to do whatever he wants to do.

andrew garfield and florence pugh are awesome and the last 20 minutes are incredible, bit boring at times in the middle but those last 20 minutes or so just closes this out perfectly

after watching emilia perez i really couldn’t handle another bad movie and turned this one off halfway through. the attempt at a courtroom drama sucks. maybe i’ll finish it up tomorrow but will probably save myself the headache

musical portions weren’t even that bad like its lady gaga but good lord the movie is just bad and incredibly boring, either fully commit to the musicals or don’t include them at all.

also Zazie Beets, i forgot you’re part of the joker movies and seeing you in a bad movie once again hurt and couldn’t continue watching as a result

just a despicable, downright evil movie. i dont know what was worse the israeli doctor or the bangkok songs. also the ending was absolutely horrific and cements this as one of the most evil movies ever. another movie for #them but them is the hollywood/european old guard and selena gomez stans and i guess quasi "allies"? the type to tell trans people to kill themselves because raise their voices in complete objection of this movie. cant believe this was somehow a front runner for best picture and you just know there is a world in which this still wins best picture because of the hollywood old guard.

also selena gomez and zoe saldana weren't good. and gascon should never sniff an award show ever again, except the IDF award show or similar

very innovative and visually creative filmmaking but the POV stuff was just not it imo. a lot of it looked great but felt that the camera and Nickel was more of the main character than Elwood/Turner. I get it, it's supposed to put you in the shoes of the characters but even so Elwood, Turner, etc just felt superficial and were painted as broad strokes when it came to the Black experience. the superficial stuff continues with Nickel, I really wanted more of an exploration of the school. like cmon it's set during the Civil Rights movement and the Nickel Academy is doing all these horrible things but we never actually see them. this suffers some of the same issues as Zone Of Interest. we know what horrors are happening but refusing to show that and actually be specific takes away from the pain, it's really not compelling or challenging to show the horrors through memories. the best scenes in this are when we are taken out of the POV, like with older "Elwood" and Chickie Pete (to a point, still can't see the facial expressions of "Elwood"), also when we see Elwood and Turner standing shoulder to shoulder and are able to see the facial expressions of both. another great one is early on at Nickel in the cafeteria and we see the scene from Elwoods perspective then Turners.

wanted to like this but it's just a worse version of Zone Of Interest and it tries to look like Terrance Malick. learned that the novel it's based on won the 2020 Pulitzer where the judges called it "a powerful tale of human perseverance, dignity and redemption" so yeah that should've been a red flag, great book/movie for #them like my mom

Have a year Mr Sebastian Stan, not sure how he got the nod for this but not A Different Man. But he’s great in both, nailed the Trump mannerisms and speech pattern. Also Jeremy Strong, that’s my choice for best ing actor. Absolutely stole the spotlight from Stan, what a performance. I’m team Ken all the way. 

Had no idea who Cohn was but when I clocked the fact that Cohn had AIDS this turned into an unexpected heartbreaker. Those last 30 minutes man like cmon….

The actual movie was just fine, very clearly got the message across about how terrible and awful Trump is. Hopefully it changed the minds of some on the other side of the aisle. Stan and Strong carried this thing

meh, this type of horror really isn't my thing. dolls and satanism just don't do it for me. neither do jump scares and I guess "shock horror". Like yeah the couple of jump scares got me but they are jump scares for a reason, they will always get me but it's cheap. especially when it's something I really am not scared of such as Nic Cage being Michael Jackson the Serial Killer. I know I have made this comment before on other horror films like this but I just laugh at this stuff man, "ahhh the possessed doll ahhhh", I laugh or be fake scared to try to have fun, whenever the devil showed up in the background or a creepy noise I pretend to be scared. when the dude opens the door and gets blasted away I started laughing so hard, that was incredible. I need to watch horrors that just mess with my head, that is what does it for me (The Lighthouse, MIdsommar in a way, I Saw the Devil, David Lynch, etc)

visually interesting and good acting but nothing I haven't seen before. this gets an extra half star for Carter being a Mariners fan. I was thinking about what my review would say and after he nearly threw up after seeing the maggot infested bodies, I was going to say "boy he doesn't know what is going to happen in October 2001 with his Mariners". guess he doesn't have to worry about that anymore. the ending sucked, just bad, awful, terrible

Been in a spongebob kick recently and finally watched this one. I dont think I watched it when it came out but maybe I did and completely forgot, maybe because its a bit boring at times but I love spongebob and patrick. The animation is gorgeous, its got its funny moments and thats all I was hoping for

I feel like I always enjoy subtle, quiet, slow movies. Just letting the world and characters breathe. And this is yet another good quiet movie! Very tender and sweet, often relatable and funny. Daisy Ridley is great, her chemistry with Dave Merheje is great. The characters did not feel like characters, I believed they were actual people the whole time. The score was good, was a very well shot movie and loved the placement of the camera at times but honestly it felt a little too easy at times. Supposedly this was a short that was turned into a full length movie, you can definitely feel it. Some scenes dragged, some shots dragged but what movie doesn’t suffer from that? Especially a relatively mundane movie about being depressed, introverted and the struggle, the inability to open yourself up and make connections. It plays that chord about as often and as well as you could hope. 

Seriously a funny movie though despite the depressing nature and mundanity. It’s got its dark undertones but there’s just too much kindness, too much joy for the darkness to take root. A happy little watch even if it was sad at times.

This was incredible, so so so funny. As soon as the back half of this starts to unravel and Edward/Guy meets Oswald this movie just becomes an absolute hoss. Like the first half was good but thought it was starting to take a turn for the worst and then we just go on this surreal journey for the next hour. Just how incredibly clever this is can't go understated, it just folds in on itself time and time again. Really reminded me of The Curse. Also oh man this was so funny, like the John Wilkes Booth joke was great, the typewriter bit, the last line of the movie and Guy just trying to become a supervillain. I can't get the supervillain thing out of my head. Plus just with every fold it just got more funny, so many of the callbacks were great. Such an excellently edited movie. And very well shot and blocked, loved the use of red and black, it reminded me of Better Man by Pearl Jam

Dude what in the world man what were those last 20 minutes... like that took the air out of me, was not at all expecting that. Absurd movie, disgustingly good. Tbh this didn't get some kind of visceral, flashbang type reaction until the hunchback appeared. Was sitting there with my fingers steepled on the bridge of my nose. Some of the sound, those extreme close ups and transition/comparison shots did at points like Dennis Quaid eating and the sound of his boots. Speaking of Dennis, dude is actually perfect here, so awesome and so glad he is actually in a good movie. I watched The Rookie so so so much as a kid and thus he has always been one of my favorites, I do the DiCaprio point whenever I see him. Might be his first good movie since I was born? Absurd but YAY DENNIS.

Demi Moore went nuts here, she was incredible. Also Margaret Qualley! Love her. You just know Kojima was also doing the DiCaprio point when he saw Mama. Lord knows what he was doing when she went to Pump It Up. If he could become Qualley he would not go back either. But honestly I am so glad both of em took on this role in such a crazy movie, like that's just awesome. Hope Qualley keeps taking on all these daring? roles.

This was also very funny, I think the most unbelievable thing in the first hour and a half of this is definitely her building the whole secret room. Also cant believe just how of this was like Tim and Eric, the board, the shrimp, wet paper with the dudes phone number, the performances of everyone that isnt Moore/Qualley. Honestly my favorite aspect of the movie, or the sound design, those boots man... the sound made the images, like until the last 20 minutes I wasn't taken aback by an image unless the sound just punched me through the screen. I think what is holding this back from great is just the movie spent too much time repeating itself, it's a good message but it was getting old until the swing for the fences finale.

Wish I went to see this in theaters...........

thought this would be one of the worst movies of the year based on the ads they were showing before release but boy was I wrong. pretty pretty good, very clearly made with love and the animation was gorgeous. Had no idea the guy behind Lilo and Stitch was behind this so that makes complete sense and How to Train Your Dragon. But idk still wasn't the biggest fan, the whole "the wilderness needs AI to teach it kindness" thing didn't resonate with me, but I guess the new Wallace and Gromit also had Norbot so can't be too harsh I suppose. Liked a lot of the story even with the AI good thing dragging down some parts. My mom loved it though

Went from the latest episode of Severance (ep 3) and right into this. I forgot this existed which is nuts because super excited for it it. It's got Brad Pitt and George Clooney but I think I put it off because of Jon Watts. Kinda annoyed I forgot about it, pretty funny movie and just enjoyable, it's got Pitt and Clooney and felt like they were pretty good. Maybe this isn't the best movie, not even like a good one, that is so evident when you watched Severance before this. But like cmon now how is this not atleast fun? Had me hooked from the moment Pitt walked into that hotel room but maybe I just love Pitt and Clooney too much. Also 2 great cameos, getting Milo from Pusher as the Croatian mob boss, just genius casting right there. Also was one of my favorites from Triangle of Sadness. Richard Kind as the kids dad, next level. Casting director deserves an oscar for this one so does Apple I guess too for being able to put this cast together.

Apple slowly becoming my favorite studio in showbiz, they gotta work on their movies but man are they the best at TV right now. Didn't mean to turn this into some sort of Apple slobberfest but Severance, Shrinking, Pachinko, Silo and Slow Horses are 5 of like the 10 best shows being made right now. For All Mankind and Black Bird were good too. And Ted Lasso was good until it wasn't. Gotta watch Mythic Quest, I imagine I'd like it. Apple just writes a blank check and lets the showrunners do whatever and it's awesome, shows aren't rushed but aren't kept out of the sun for so long people forget about them. Hoping they can apply some of this craft to movies and if so we will be so blessed.

Yknow I was really hoping for a lot of Aubrey Plaza and a really funny movie, the poster and shrooms thing made me think this was going to be exactly that. So I was not expecting a sweet, delicate movie about love that just happened to be funny and have Aubrey Plaza in it. But what a great movie, its so comfy and touching. Thought the length was great, thought both Elliotts and Chad were great and just loved the direction of the movie. Absolutely 0 cynicism coming from the older Elliott, the best choice Megan Park made. Also the actor picked for Chad was perfect because I know a guy just like Chad like as a person and he looks nearly identical to the actor too. His name is Connor, both C names that's kinda crazy.

I hope Megan Park is doing okay, that cranberry farm looks like a great childhood and I hope she is able to do whatever she wants next.

pretty mid, it was funny atleast and the performances were pretty good but idk. Didn't really connect with me, I guess because I didn't grow up with the OG cast but also the story behind it isn't that crazy, like the whole "NBC wants you to fail thing" could have been dialed up more or something. Theres a great scene in the middle and then it definitely ramps up towards the end. Also poster is ripped off from Hundreds of Beavers so..........

dude idk how to feel about this one, it was fun? maybe because so much of it was bad but it was the charming kind of bad. Had its incredible moments though. That one Jon Voight scene (you know the one) was awesome and hopefully is this films legacy. Also a good 10-20 minutes of this was absolutely ridiculous, I don't know Coppola was able to get away with some of it. You know what I am talking about. There was like 5 different movies in this one, Aubrey Plaza was in her own little movie and that any scene with her was just incredible. So much of the dialogue in this was awful, just impossible to listen to with a straight face, even some of the scenes with Wow Diamond but atleast she made them funny and honestly a good watch. Anyways it was all over the place, incoherent and ridiculous. I'm glad the kooky old man got to make his dream project with absolutely nothing to stop him. Whole movie is just the hardest anyone will ever commit to a bit and I gotta respect it.

I am very glad Eastwood is still making movies, you know what you're getting because the man is so consistent, every movie is somewhere between average and good. Maybe he ain't what he once was but at least we still have him. But I will say this did feel like it was directed by a 94 year old man, looking at the casting and the premise you'd think this would be an incredible movie. But a lot of the time it felt people were reading their lines for the first time. Also I did not really care for any of the characters in this. Simmons and Sutherland are guys that make any movie better yet they felt criminally underutilized and not written very well. Hoult is good but unlikeable, Collette and Messina are good as the lawyers and honestly the only characters I liked. Even with the characters being disappointing the movie was still engaging, the premise is so amazing, just wish it was used better. Eastwood in his 70's woulda made this a banger.

This cast was awesome, thought Plemons was awesome in all 3 stories and was the perfect calming vibe to comfort us during all the weird, discomforting Yorgos moments. This was the proper kind of weird and unsettling for me, Poor Things felt like it was trying to be really quirky rather than weird and absurd. Yorgos was really pushing the envelope, its like that dril tweet about the racism dial, thats what Yorgos was doing here. Really glad that Qualleys hit performance in Death Stranding put her on Yorgos radar, thank you Kojima.

This was as funny, maybe more funny than Poor Things, I keep comparing it to Poor Things but I havent watched a Yorgos film besides Poor Things since high school, I just knew my college friends would not want to watch The Lobster so havent watched old Yorgos in like 5 years. But anyways, this is better than Poor Things. Personally I thought the 1st story was best, followed by the 3rd then 2nd.

Also Emma Stone whipping around a purple Challenger was awesome and loved that the movie ended with her binning it. Need Emma Stone to put herself in Drift Streets Japan / Tokyo Xtreme Racer roles or adjacent like this one

Officially a B1G movie, I need Eisenberg to explain why he likes Indiana. B1G country is big and he chooses INDIANA?!?!?!? Like maybe he loves basketball but Indiana has been irrelevant since Knight was fired 25 years ago apart from 2014. Football? Worst D1 football program ever until Cignetti arrived this year. I can't believe this Jesse... Like cmon now their most hated rival is PURDUE...

Anyways Kieran better win the Oscar man and Mr. Eisenberg you might just have the juice

Really good one man but could've been so much better. Thought the acting was great, it was a very well shot movie and should have been up for best cinematography and honestly might've been my pick. The clash of Renaissance architecture with modern tech was really cool. Thought the pace was great, was never boring despite the premise being about something I don't care about. However I will say it could have been more exciting and had more tension, for something that is supposed to be "The Most Important Event/Vote in Human History", it lacked that very tight grip that would have made this an all timer. The score didn't help and while I thought Fiennes character was intriguing, I thought his struggle with faith/praying was so underdeveloped but his struggle to be a "manager" was fun to follow. Could have been on the doorstep of 12 Angry Men, the infighting was a ton of fun and Fiennes whole schtick of "well I am sequestered so do not tell me anything... but I need you to do something for me" was also fun. Wish this had that extra little oomph in the writing department to take that next leap. But as someone that is not religious in any way whatsoever, some of the faith stuff probably went right over my head so I guess there's that but regardless it was a awesome movie.

Also thought the pick for Pope was so unsurprising, kinda thought it from the moment we laid eyes on em. But it was an awesome ending, that little plot twist at the end turned the end from a "yeah okay" to a "YEAH BOYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Dude I don’t know man, just kinda boring. The visuals are the best part of this and what will stick with me but everything else not so much. Both the main characters are not very memorable, the narrative is just boring. It’s just a pretty obvious allegory that is played out by using the same metaphors over and over and over again past the point of being milked dry through overused creepypasta postmortems. Thought this took away from the actual cool and memorable parts of the story and characters as well as the potential for deeper exploration of the characters. Instead we just got allegories, whole lots of telling rather than showing. This just has a lot of the same faults as we’re all going to the worlds fair but just in a bigger world with a bigger story to sell you, these faults are harder to contain. Like I said the visuals of this are great, 90s suburbia full of retro nostalgia and just good cloudy indie vibes. Shoegaze sound track also is great here. However I think delivering this muddied narrative in this world is very much possible but the vibiness replaced the nuance here and that just sucks. Nostalgia can only go so far (a decent message of the movie I must say). Creepypastas and the vibes just got exhausting for me. Thought the pace was also bad, the first act and 40 minutes was really gripping but it just lost me the rest of the way. Thought Maddy should have had a longer absence to really weigh on us but nope. Felt like the soundtrack was great and did most of the emotional heavy lifting but also often felt that the timing of some songs was wrong and that also sucked.

Plus it’s not funny like whatsoever and where’s the horror aspects? I guess I’m not the target audience for this. I’ll never feel dread about coming out as gay or nervousness and uncertainty about transitioning because that’s just not who I am. The only message I can get with is wanting to escape from nostalgia and home, graduated college and back at home and don’t love it!

For the actual movie, this whole thing is pretty decently put together for something that’s unoriginal, not even the whole island deal is original thanks to Epstein. Mr Channing Tatum does a good job and so does most of the cast but man do I love some Simon Rex and Adria Arjona

Loved the looks of the movie, the use of shadows and color or lack of was awesome. Just a great little atmosphere and vibe. Keeping the count hidden until like half way was cool but did think certain parts of this dragged, mostly the middle, my friend fell asleep around that point so yeah don’t blame him much. Other complaint is that the count/nosferatu didn’t flicker the lights or look like the version from SpongeBob or the previous iterations of nosferatu. Was super excited to see that look but oh well still an enjoyable movie. Also Willem makes any movie better so there’s that too

Norbot is such a welcome addition to the Wallace and Gromit universe. The army of em was a tad frightening with those beady black eyes. Also love a good movie about the dangers of AI and what better vehicle than claymation. Feathers vs Gromit one of the best feuds in movie history, 2 of my goats

Awesome movie, awesome series, tops the John Wick chart in pretty much every category but story. The praise it got off release for being one of the best movies of the year and one of the best pure action movies ever is definitely justified, what a banger movie
