I found myself psychologically trying to make Tom safer in my head. I know it’s just a stunt and there’s probably all kinds of wires and harnesses safely holding him in place that were likely digitally removed in post but still. That scene felt real enough for me. An outrageous Blue Angels level air show. I’m glad that Tom and co have steadily kept making quality Mission: Impossible movies for five films in a row now. That’s not easy to do in the big summer tentpole arena.

I went into this film blind and that’s the best way to go. A wonderful genre exercise that works effectively because it relies on tension and a meticulously thought-out plot that has an amazing pay-off. The message is also very timely. I give this one a solid recommendation. There’s a lot of visual misdirection as well, and it’s a testament to how well the director can anticipate the audiences interpretation of an image.
