My expectations for Dune: Part Two were pretty high even though the first entry didn’t blow me away as much as I’d like, nonetheless the second part of Villeneuve’s epic is able to sur pretty much everybody’s expectations, creating a fascinating cinematic experience.
Simply put, Dune: Part Two is a truly impressive sequel that outshines its predecessor in every conceivable way. I was truly impressed by the way in which Villeneuve effectively introduces all the new characters and cleverly portrays Paul Atreides’ evolution.
Apart from this, surprisingly enough, the movie’s pace never drags, making for a completely engaging ride throughout, even at 167 minutes long, which in addition to its stunning cinematography and more-than-impressive attention to the tiniest detail results in an absolute achievement, so grand in scale that it should only be appreciated on the biggest possible screen.
On another note, as expected, the whole cast is impeccable, full of star power and putting on remarkable performances, but my MVP would be without a doubt Javier Bardem, who is absolutely hilarious during the entirety of the film and who got the whole theatre bursting out laughing just with the faces he made. Also, Austin Butler’s performance is mind-blowing, I absolutely loved seeing him as the villain and wish we could see more of him, but nevertheless his fight scene with Chalamet won’t be forgotten.
Overall, Dune: Part Two proves to be the perfect sequel and an epic sci-fi film that will be ed for years to come, and that creates even more hype and expectation for the saga’s final entry, so to say that everybody should go ahead and watch this on cinemas would be an understatement.
