“The tendency of man’s corrupted nature is to be proud, to love self-glory and self-display, to hold fast to his own opinions and decisions and always to want everyone to give him a much higher value than he actually has. This self-appreciation and high opinion of oneself are extremely harmful in the work of spiritual endeavor, so much so that even a shadow of them is enough to prevent a man from reaching true perfection.”

A metaphor for the duality of human nature in the unforgiving landscape of mortality. At least that’s how I see it. Now feck off!

Also, hilarious.

Alien

While watching Alien, I came to the realization that Aliens is structurally near-identical to its predecessor, with the latter basically pumped on 'roids. This doesn't minimize my enjoyment of Cameron's sequel--Aliens is certainly the more fun of the two--but it confirms in my mind that Alien is the superior film.
