Dune: Part Two

Why take antidepressants when we have Denis Villeneuve

Also, best kiss scene of all time. And I’m not talking about Timothée and Zendaya.

Dune Part Two is truly a staggering and monumental epic of a movie that I will never forget seeing in the cinema for the first time in a crowed theater. To see a Denis Villeneuve film in a crowded theater is amazing. There’s some points in the third act where everything was so visceral, fierce, and powerful; I was almost crying. I was so overwhelmed with emotion while watching this movie, all I could really think about when it ended was the last hour, while it took me at least 30 minutes to completely focus on the entirety of the movie. Every scene in this movie is just so fantastic, It’s easy to forget because of every scene being so much better than the last. From the very opening minute of this movie, I knew it would be something special. It’s hard to put a movie like this into words, because there are no words to describe how good this movie is. For someone to understand, they have to watch this movie. Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca, Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Austin Butler, and Josh Brolin are all incredible. The characters are all fascinating, they aren’t just vessels for the plot, they are the plot. That’s what makes this movie so gripping, there is an epicness in scale to it, but it’s mostly grounded in our characters. I do have an issue with the movie, it could be something that could easily be forgiven with a rewatch, but I might as well note it. Sometimes in this three hour long epic could feel a little rushed. I would watch some scenes that sometimes a little too abruptly cut into the next, this happened at many small moments throughout the movie, but is also something that could get worse or better with a rewatch.
