I couldn't imagine that Guðmudsson would follow up Heartstone with a coming-of-age story as violent as this. But as people has noted before it has sprinkles of very warm intimatate and close moments between the boys. Sturla Brandt's cinematography is as good as ever this time mixed with dreamesque sequences and the use of macro-photography.
