This isn’t amazing but at least it feels like a real film. I hated the references to Queen’s gambit and whiplash and I thought teller and joy had no chemistry and were both phoning it in a little.

I enjoyed the relatively original creature design, although the ‘military secret lab’ outcome was probably the least interesting angle they could have taken. Also, just really insane to zip line across a hole that is covered in mines that are being triggered at random by monsters. The jeep set piece was pretty fun though.

In summary, good popcorn flick for when you fancy putting on an inconsequential blockbuster.

I think realistically this leans more into 3 1/2 star territory but it really worked on my when I saw it.
