The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb

1964

★★★ Watched

The original posters for this film described the mummy as “half-bone, half-bandage” and yeah, he’s about as scary as that sounds. Great love triangle though, in which the wronged party seems at most mildly irked, and for the most part completely unbothered by the fact his nice French ladyfriend is being wooed out from under him by a 3000 year old Liberace.

The Satanic Rites of Dracula

1973

★★½ 2

There’s a scene in this film where Peter Cushing is wearing two cardigans. Literally one cardigan over another cardigan. Wild.

If I’m ever in charge of making a Dracula film the first thing I’ll do is make sure the guy I get to make the fake bat is someone who has actually seen a bat before.
