Dune: Part Two

2024

★★★★

Critiques:
- Honestly should've been longer. I felt like quite a few moments were rushed, and drained of some their potential impact.
- Christopher Walken was not the man for the job. He can try to hide his absolutely insane voice but it slips through and a man in my theater cackled at it (he was right to).

But damn besides that, this thing RIPS. The action, the romance, the special effects, everything is just so good. I was hooked right off the bat, after the brief Florence Pugh introduction (which was also nice), with the Harkonnen's approaching on Timmy in the dunes. I mean come on. Just a perfect, tense, grounded scene to start things off. And I loved the Avatar energy of T-dog learning how to ride worms and moonwalk or whatever. Also, a little comedic relief being sprinkled in via Javier Bardem?!?! I did not see that one coming, but was quite pleased.

And I gotta say, sometimes I question Timbo Slice's ability to act. His voice is so stiff sometimes. But when he went sicko mode in the prayer circle, I was sweating. He's an animal!
