Unfortunately I just cannot hang with Ludwig Göransson—not even a little bit. Have disliked almost everything he’s done, and I think he doesn’t speak half the musical languages he thinks he does. Which is incredibly frustrating with this movie in particular.

If you pick at this long enough to get down to what might be an artistic statement, it really comes off as exceedingly blinkered and almost smug in how it lends artistic value to memory and forensic accuracy as opposed to a political, cultural, or human context of war. Enjoyed thinking about it but when the bad taste hit it in my mouth it was almost repulsive. I “get it” in of well those movies have been made before but the tip of the spear is never going to be as interesting as who’s holding it and why.

The guy serving us concessions at the theater was like “enjoy the movie, I’m in it, I’m the waiter at the Applebee’s” and for those few flashes he was on screen our group just like quietly screamed and rooted for him. Auspiciously marshaled in great vibes, had a blast, though is it just me or could we have used a few more title cards? What room are we in? What time is it now? Trent & Atticus cooked.
