I’d been warned that this was problematic but no one told me that it’s also completely fucking batshit insane.

It’s kind of unbelievable that Disney+ doesn’t have a warning on this one the way they have for so many others in their canon, this is arguably the most misguided and damaging of their films on the service.
It’s an absolute shame that such beautiful animation and music were wasted on this. This was clearly a very ionate project by people who were willfully blind to the historical and cultural context of the story they were trying to tell.

I've got mixed feelings about this movie. On the one hand, the pure ambition of this project is undeniable. It's a martial arts laden gangster rap musical, it features at least ten distinctly different gangs, countless subplots and minor characters, and the whole story takes place in one night. Add…
So, I'm extremely torn on this movie. On the one hand, it exactly what you would expect and more. Insane action, crazy stunts, visceral violence, it really is just like a video game. Now, not all of the action scenes are equally engaging, they seemed to try and spread things out between all the types of different action scenes you could have; chase scene, parkour scene, stealth scene, shootout scene, and some work better than others with Hardcore Henry's unique…
