I still really like this one. I get the complaint that it’s uncinematic, but I think pushing in on those faces in the movie that’s the first to turn Ethan Hunt into a real character does help the intimate feel. Maybe that was the BFI IMAX talking.
I think fundamentally I do just really enjoy the feel of an Abrams movie. Can usually count on him for a good vibe. I think he deserves more credit for establishing the tone we’ve come to expect from Mission. AND this was another M:I trilogy marathon where I cried at the end. The magic of Julia!
