The second best film set in the desert!
An incredible experience, a film made to be seen in the cinema and an incredible achievement. Denis Villeuneve does a great job bringing to life one of the most iconic books of all time and one that has inspired most of sci-fi that we see today. I think this is a relatively big step up from its predecessor and it just hits so hard. It almost feels surreal that you are watching this film and it actually exists.
Timothee Chalamet portrays the character of Paul Atreides so well and just gives it his all in this role. Every single second he’s on the screen you feel chills, definitely his best work to date and I can’t wait to see him in future roles because his line delivery is impeccable. Same can be said about Zendeya who I think also gives the best performance of her career, her character is just amazing, it’s the guidance the audience needed and perhaps what Frank Herbert failed to do in his books in making us realise how evil Paul truly is. I think she works brilliantly in the film.
I also do think that the pacing although it wasn’t BAD in the first part it is much better in this film and you Don’t feel the run time at all. I think this is one of if not the best film of the decade so far and I can’t wait to rewatch it when it comes out on digital.
