Wow. Just wow. Denis Villeneuve you have my heart. Dune Part 2 is a masterpiece of epic proportions, pushing the limits of what it means to be a cinematic achievement.
The world Villeneuve has built is so vast yet so detailed. Nothing feels half-baked. Everything has a purpose. The imagery is superb, the textures uber-layered with a finesse that is rarely seen. This film is a visual marvel, one of the best looking features you’re ever likely to see.
It’s almost unfair that a film this pretty gets a score composed by Hans Zimmer. Fittingly bombastic, giving me literal chills throughout.
The cast is ridiculous. The list of names is wild. Timothée Chalamet is fantastic yet again. Rebecca Ferguson and Javier Bardem brilliantly. Austin Butler is the highlight. An utterly relentless performance, bringing Feyd-Rautha from page to screen in sensational fashion.
A monumental piece of cinema that is rightfully being heralded. Dune Part 2 reaches the lofty bar set by Dune and obliterates it. More Dune is a need not a want. May thy knife chip and shatter. 5 stars.
