Watched this on the way home today and yeah, it’s amazing. Everytime I watch it I pick something else up. One of the best animated films ever!

Plane movie #1

So watched this on the plane, mostly because of the Andor finishing. By the way what an incredible show that was. Best thing Disney have done was Star Wars. Was pretty perfect. 

This film also happens to be pretty fantastic. A little bit jumpy at the start but great world building and addiction to the prequel story to a new hope. The final act is just amazing!

I’m gonna say it… the best titanic film! 

Obviously I know it’s not completely accurate as they discovered the wreckage and more details after the release of this film but I love that we don’t have to spend an hour building up with a cringy couple and then constantly cut to them during the sinking. 

Still really like the James Cameron film but prefer the direction this takes. Probably wasn’t the best film for me to watch last night though. Going on a cruise holiday today so it’s a good thing I’m really not scared of the ocean.

Iconic film! 

So I pre ordered the new arrow video 4K sets of these films and wow I’m so pleased I did. The 4K transfer of them is truly breathtaking. Now I’ve watched this film a few times and spoken about it a few times so I’ll just say this…

It’s one of the best westerns of all time. The opening is truly amazing and the dialogue is just iconic. “Get three coffins ready”… one minute later “my mistake, four” just love that small exchange. Truly brilliant film!

Impressive film! 

I didn’t really hear much about this one and I don’t know why really. The sound design alone in this was just outstanding. The build up score was so intense. Then the actual sound design of the movie was great. 

It being based on a true story makes it even more impactful and seeing what these soldiers go through is a hard watch. The actors all did such a fantastic job in their roles. Really does make you feel for what they are going through. 

Just on a technical level it’s one of the most impressive films I’ve seen in a while. If you haven’t seen this one yet then id definitely recommend doing so!

Great as always! 

Nothing much to add here over what I’ve already said. I’d anyone else has. Yeah, it’s a slight step down from the previous two but still an excellent film. I actually love the opening with Jabba and then an epic conclusion with such a great space battle and awesome lightsaber fight! Still an amazing film regardless.

Perfection! 

I always kind of give the edge to episode 4 because it was the first Star Wars film. It created this incredible universe that we all know and love. The direction that this movie takes it in though and the world building it does is incredible! 

Not gonna go into it much because as per normal I don’t know what I could add to this film which hasn’t already been said. Had an amazing time rewatching this morning though. Such a good film!

Ready for the new film! 

I don’t really think these modern straight forward action movies are for me to be completely honest. While I appreciate this wasn’t bad and why some people would probably really enjoy it, I was just kinda bored for a lot of it. 

The plot was decent and the dynamics between characters was well done but I think the runtime drew everything out including the action sequences. With all that it just kinda left me a little uninterested in what was happening. 

Ben Affleck was good in the film but I’ve gotta say I’m here for Jon Bernthal. I absolutely love that man. First thing I saw him in was the walking dead and I’ve tried to keep up to date with him. One of my favourite current actors. Maybe even one of my favourite actors in general. 

Overall, yeah I know this was good but I just don’t think it was really for me. I know it’s not bad but I just was left waiting for it to end with my next movie already in mind!

Pretty bad! 

Honestly like the first film it isn’t as terrible as some make out. Saying there’s no doubt that it is a bad film though. The writing comes across as though a child has written it. The dialogue is in another league of terrible and the character work is just flawed. 

The film has moments where it can be fun. Some of the action sequences are interesting. The switching of powers starts interesting but ends up just being annoying leading to an awful showdown with doctor Doom. 

The silver surfer is actually pretty cool. Really loved how he looked and the actor did a solid job. Shame that with Galactus they just turned him into a big cloud. Was really threatening that. 

Overall it’s a big cringe fest, with weak characters but some action sequences here and there. Not much more to say on this one really. Just isn’t much to it unfortunately.

Stupidest family ever in a zombie film! 

So the dad fully makes out with his half zombie wife and causes the zombies to come back… idiot. Then we got the daughter who can see her brothers infected and lets him out the country… idiot. This one family pretty much killed the entire world. 

The film itself is decent. In my opinion there wasn’t enough zombie action. The film is basically split into two half’s. The first being complete setup and then the back half about the zombie outbreak. They should have shortened the setup a bit and given us more time with the zombie action in my opinion. 

Some of the gore in this one is a tad silly as well. I liked that the first film is a lot more grounded than other zombie films. Then this one has a scene with a helicopter going along murdering the zombies. Just a tad too much compared to the first film. 

The first film as well is just a classic British film and I feel they went a tad too American with this one. Took some of the charm away that the first film had. If you can use charm for a film as violent as these. 

The film is fun though and even with my complaints I’d say overall a more positive experience than bad. There’s a lot of really fun moments, especially in the back half of the film.

Back in the Star Wars mood! 

I think after seeing episode 3 recently at the cinema, Andor airing and watching tales of the underworld it’s a good time to be a Star Wars fan right now. So last night I got really in the mood to rewatch the original 3 films and I finished this one on lunch today. 

What can I say about this that no one else has said? Absolutely nothing. This film along with the others in this series have been talked about to death. So yeah, my favourite film ever. I love it, it’s an absolute masterpiece!

Needed something easy! 

Was kinda just in the mood for this. I have spoken about it a few times. It’s one of those classic sci fi films I just always enjoy going back to!

Boring! 

What can I say about this film? Honestly I didn’t care about the plot or any of the characters. And when a film does nothing to get you interested in these things then you end up being really bored. Which is exactly how I felt watching this. 

Even the action is just super generic. Tom Hardy was kinda annoying in this and reminded me a bit of the way he played Venom. Tom Hardy is a really good actor but lately he keeps doing these characters with a more comedic side and it really doesn’t work. 

Not very good at all. I’m surprised the score is as high as it is on here. Won’t be watching this again!

Guardians still with the best trilogy in the MCU! 

It’s the weakest of the trilogy I will it but I still think this is a really solid film. It’s a bit rushed and messy at the start but then when it finds its feet it’s really good. 

One of the best final acts with a great final fight. Yeah, even though it’s a big CGI one I think it’s actually a really cool one. Solid villain with Kurt Russell and  then maybe the most emotional death mod the MCU. 

Now onto Spider-Man homecoming! Going to get the entire MCU rewatched for Doomsday next yeah. Not the shows though. I don’t have that much time on my hands.

Been a while! 

Not feeling 100% today so have been chilling this morning with a film and this sprung to mind. Has been a while since I last watched it so thought it was time for a rewatch. It’s just an innocent, adorable little watch. Anyone who judges this film hasn’t seen it. So give it a watch and you’ll be surprised!

Big step up from Brave New World! 

I surprisingly don’t have loads to say on this one. I guess when you get a film as bad as Brave New World you end up with a lot more to talk about. This is a big step up though for marvel. Not a return to glory days but a good step back in the right direction. 

I got to say that the characters in this were all really good. What they did with Yelena was pretty great. Really took a nice approach at dealing with some of her mental health problems which paid off really well in the final act. US agent was probably the highlight for me. With red guardian providing the more comedic moments. Unfortunately Ghost fell short a tad but she had the coolest powers which made up for it. 

The CG reacts of Bob I thought was a really solid addition to the film. Not only was he interesting but the multiple looks he got was great. Easily a stand out anti hero for the MCU. Which is saying a lot in this universe with so many characters. 

There also wasn’t any glaringly bad CGI moments. I mean marvel films always like to throw a couple of really questionable shots in but there really wasn’t any in this one. I wouldn’t say the film blew me away visually but I loved the look of the villain in this film I will say. 

Also got to give props to the director because the plot of this film could have easily become a bit messy with the many twists in direction it has but it never did. I was fully aware of what was happening and yeah, solid plot. Two pretty mid end credit scenes though. Which I think that comment might annoy some people with the second end credit scene but honestly didn’t think it was all that. 

I don’t know if this is a film I’ll go back to loads but for me it was a fun time in the cinema. Nothing amazing but definitely a step in the right direction for marvel. Let’s just hope they can pull off these next avengers films now. We will see!

Thank god it’s over! 

This was really, really bad! I know at this point this franchise is just in the toilet but anything they could have done to try redeem it seemed to go out the window. What we ended up with was a sloppy, boring movie. Can’t even be bothered to write a proper review here. It sucked.

Not as awful as some make out! 

I don’t want to confuse anyone here as this was definitely still a bad film but the way some people bang on about it being awful I just think is a tad exaggerated. There are so many obvious problems with this film which really make do hold it back but I will say that the film has its fun moments. 

The obvious problems for me is the pacing and script. The film rushed through so much in the beginning and treats the audience like idiots either the script. I know it’s a comedy film and aimed for kids but man it really thinks the people watching are dumb. The script is just cringe at times and nothing really feels that believable. I mean you got five characters on a speciation and not once do we see them speak about anything scientific but we see relationship drama. Like Eastenders in space. 

Doctor Doom actually looked alright a couple of times. It’s fun to see him overpowered like he should be but then I think they wrote themselves into a hole because the way our characters beat him was hilarious. Definitely think the writers struggled with certain characters here. I mean they struggled with a lot of it like some of the arguments between characters seemed so forced. 

The action sequences are fun though and some of the scenes with the Thing in particular are entertaining. The film wasn’t near as bad as some people make out that’s for sure. It just leaves a lot to be desired.

Epic! 

I did actually get this new 4K double pack on release a few weeks back from Akira and I’m not entirely sure why it’s taken this long for me to watch them both. Anyway finally watched it tonight and yeah was as amazing as I expected. 

The dynamic that our lead character got himself into was really great and made for a fascinating story. It reminded me a lot of High and Low as the film would constantly take you in directions you wasn’t expecting. Always kept me glued to the screen. 

One of the highlights for me though was the score. Of all the films I’ve seen from this amazing director I think that this might have had the best score of all of them so far. Along with that you get some fantastic cinematography. A really stunning film and you can tell every shot had a lot of thought and care going into it. 

Any other element of this film, just take it that I loved it. A really solid movie and I can’t wait to see the sequel to it.

On the big screen! 

I was not missing this at the cinema. It was so great to see my childhood favourite on the big screen again. I barely seeing it on its original release so revisiting it tonight like that was very nostalgic. More nostalgic than normal. 

I know my score is high and some may not understand that as there is the obvious problems. Clunky dialogue and some weak moments of acting. I get all that and I do see it but it’s one of those films for me that I’ve watched so much and have the fondest memories of that I give it a on that stuff. 

Really has become a pretty iconic film and it is just really fun. From the amazing opening leaving us with a feel of live action clone wars into the dark decent of Anakin and the fall of the Jedi to the incredible final showdown leading to the birth of the Vader we know. 

Love this movie, always will. Gonna be watching this til the day I die. Hopefully one day I might get to see it on the big screen again!

And I’m finally up to date with Clint Eastwood! 

I don’t know why but I wasn’t particularly excited to watch this one. I just don’t really like courtroom movies. Thankfully though this was definitely one of the better ones. Purely because the scenario our lead character was in. 

I situation our lead character was put in here just really got me thinking as an audience member. What would I do and it was so fascinating to watch how our character went about it. Made for a really great story. 

Clint does an amazing job directing this one which is very impressive for his age. The man still has it and am curious to see what next for him. Apparently he does have another movie in the works so we will see how that turns out. 

This was really good though. Better than expected for sure and one I won’t forget about anytime soon. If you haven’t checked this out then I’d definitely recommend doing so!

Real good fun! 

I actually have a real soft spot for this one. I think it’s just really good fun even though it is a bit messy. I would say my complaints with this one upon this watch is that it rushes through a lot at the start leaving you with a messy first two acts. However it’s still really fun and love the third act. 

Could have been a bit weirder at times but I actually think this is a really good origin story. Benedict is amazing as strange. Pretty perfect casting with that one it must be said. Actually makes me wish they’d followed this up with a proper sequel and not a dr strange vs Wanda movie.

This film is terrifying! 

Now I haven’t seen the two 28 films in about ten years. Honestly I hadn’t rewatched them because I removed how much they scared me. Anyway with the new one fast approaching I decided it was time for a rewatch and my god I forgot how scary these films are. 

I’ll be honest if I woke up in this world I think I’d off myself. The zombies in this film are truly horrifying. It’s kinda fun to see in a way as I find most zombie films have the zombies being slow. 

I love the way the film was shot. I could be wrong but I believe it was all shot on a phone. The sound mixing is great as well. Really adds to those jump scares which I love and hate at the same time. 

The characters are also great as well. From the leading four to our army villains. You kinda get everyone’s motives. Makes for a really well sounded movie overall!

Was on TV! 

I honestly don’t think I’ve seen this film in about 15 years or so. I used to watch it all the time when I was a kid. I having the dvd and just watching it all the time. Also playing the game on the dvd even though I knew exactly how to win every time. 

Maybe the film isn’t great but I’ve got to give it good so for pure nostalgia. I actually had such a blast rewatching it after all these years. So many lines I somehow . I was surprised in myself. 

The animation doesn’t particularly hold up great but I at the time this looked brilliant. The voice cast all do a solid job. The characters are all super fun as well. The ending when the bear finally shows up is pretty epic! 

So yeah, real solid stuff here. Had a very fun time with this movie! Hopefully won’t take me another 15 years to come back to it.

Think the villain was invincible as well! 

Watched this last night as well and had a pretty good time with it. I’d been hearing it was surprisingly good and yeah, I agree. The title of the film sucks and the trailers made it look really generic but I’d say it was a pretty good watch overall. 

I loved that our lead character who doesn’t feel pain wasn’t a violent person at all. Really made for some funny sequences. The scene where someone’s meant to be slowly hurting him and he’s pretending to react to it was a highlight.

The ending goes on a tad too long though. I mean I’m pretty sure the villain was invincible as well. The guy just wouldn’t die and it went on a tad too long I think. 

Overall though, yeah it was good. Nothing amazing but I had a solid time with this and definitely think people who like to switch off a bit with films will enjoy this one.

Not very good but not awful! 

I’ll start by saying this is a massive step up from the previous movie. The fourth film in this series was so bad that this looks like a masterpiece. It still falls into a lot of sloppy traps which I don’t think the first three films did but it recaptures the fun a bit more after the fourth film. 

The best parts of this movie are the opening and closing scenes. The opening on the bridge is super fun. Got to say the tar death with the guy from anchorman was awesome. Then I was waiting for it to link to one of the others and loved the way they did it at the end of the film. 

The film has a lot of fun deaths throughout, pretty silly again but honestly no where near the level of the last film. No one getting killed by a swimming pools filtration system. The death in the gym was pretty cool as you were constantly wondering what would get the poor character. 

The film is kinda ugly though I will say. It uses that filter which films loved using in the early 2000’s. A little out of date here but the film still used it and it sucked. Some really dumb moments throughout especially with the dialogue as well which ruined moments of the film. 

While the film re finds its fun energy with the deaths it still falls short of being a good film through some really bad moments with dialogue, acting and the look of the film. Also the characters really suck as well. Doesn’t leave you with much empathy for them at times.

Just a bit boring! 

I was actually expecting more action. What we ended up getting here was an incredibly generic movie where our lead protagonist is trapped for the majority of the movie and only allows us to get some action in the final 20 minutes. 

Daisy Ridley has shown that she can be a really good actress. With filmed like ‘sometimes I think about dying’ and ‘magpie’ I really have come to appreciate her as an actress more. Here though I feel like she stepped back a bit to her ‘Star Wars’ level where every now and then you’d get a pretty wooden scene from her unfortunately. 

I think the ideas where here but it’s just an undeveloped plot with cringe dialogue and my god I hated how they talked about marvel and endgame in this. So cringe. Kinda makes me want to lower the score even more.

Gotta it the third act had me pretty emotional! 

This film was a hard watch at times. Of course seeing a family preparing for the death of a relative is never easy. Something which I think most people go through. Loosing someone so younger though must be even harder. The film really captures how people handle these situations so differently. 

For me it played on the generic side a couple of times with what happened in the first two acts with our lead character and her new “friends”. Kinda seen these American parties where you know they are gonna get caught. By the way, American parties compared to UK ones look awful. Just saying! 

The final act when the moment finally comes I’ve got to say it was very emotional. Amazing performances from the two lead actresses. Excited to see what the lead actress can bring to the live action how to train your dragon. Also woody was pretty good in this. Always nice to see him poping up in films. 

Overall, not one of the best watches but a good one overall. It could have done more but think it did a solid job at getting its messages across and great performances all round!

Power film! 

With Ryan Coogler’s new film coming out soon I thought I’d watch the only film of his I haven’t seen. Got to say that I really enjoyed this. I definitely think that final act really brought the film to life with how powerful it was. It’s absolutely crazy that this is a true story though. 

So I definitely think there are some slow moments in the first two acts. It does have some great character work but will then go into a scene which I honestly just felt should have either not been in the film entirely or just edited down. 

It’s a bit hard to talk about the final act with it being a true story. The fact that a police officer just shot a black man like that is hard to believe even though I’m fully aware that these things happen. This film does its best to capture how awful this situation was and the saddest thing about it, is that this isn’t the only case like this. Not even in just America. 

The film is filled with powerful performances and I got to give it to Coogler for really capturing this horrific event. He makes it feel personal as you get to know all the characters throughout the film. It really elevates what actually happened in this film. 

Really good film overall. Would definitely recommend watching if you’re a fan of Cooglers other work. Now onto Sinners probably next week for me.

The final destinations dropped off big time here! 

This film actually sucked. I know that the first 3 are nothing special but for me they were all kinda on the same level of great concept, ridiculous but super fun. This was just stupidly bad. 

I know the deaths have to get more creative and with that they get silly. Something about the deaths in this one was just way too stupid though. Like not one of them was near as fun as the weakest death scene in the previous movie. 

All the characters sucked. They all felt like your standard Hollywood products just thrown into a rushed movie. Speaking of rushed, that’s exactly what this plot felt like. Badly took anytime to establish things and just threw you from one scene to the other. 

Also this one looked so cheap! Like did the third one not do well or something and they just didn’t trust this film with a big budget? Don’t get me wrong the previous three films didn’t look great but man this just looked awful. 

I knew this one would be a step down from its reviews but didn’t expect it to be this bad. Honestly it was pretty dreadful. One of the weakest film I’ve seen in a while!

This was weird! 

I’ll be honest, I can see why some people are not a big fan of this one. It’s a really great concept on paper but I think the execution is a bit ropey.  I personally found the film pretty fun but can see some glaring problems. 

On the positives first! As I say I loved the concept of this film. The plot I thought was very fun. The build up to the unicorns attacking was very fun. I enjoyed all the characters even though a couple of them made obviously stupid decisions. Also great cast and they all bring their A game! 

I think for me a big problem was how predictable the film was. Like you tell exactly who was going to die and when it was coming. Almost to the second. There’s also something which happens at the end which involves a resurrection and they try to play it off like this character has actually died but you can tell exactly what they are going to do a mile off. 

It is a bit of a leave your brain at the door kind of film but honestly I thought it was very fun. I’m not sure if it’s one I’ll go back to much but for what it was, I had fun with it.

I did it! I got through the whole thing! 

It honestly took me three tries to get through this entire film. Even though it’s still a little bit off, in the build up to the new fantastic four I wanted to rewatch all brothers and then ed that this one exists and I’d never seen it. So I watched! 

I mean the plot is pretty crazy. It tries to fit so much in and it just becomes one of the biggest messes of a film I’ve ever seen. Like the budget for this wasn’t massive so it really surprises me that they tried to do so much. Speaking of the budget not being big, some of the fights are hilarious. Dr Doom and all his men with normal guns and my god the human torch one at the end looked so bad. 

I think it showed a lack of understanding of the characters. Dr Doom was weak as shit. Like how he got best was just lame. I mean if every Dr Doom was like this then the Avengers are going to have no trouble with him in Doomsday. 

I don’t have much more to say. Ya know this was before comic book movies where popular and no one really cared about these kind of films much. Clearly not much effort went in and it really shows.

Why I do this to myself! 

Why do I do this? Everytime I watch this documentary I end up in such tears. After the One to One feature I got to see at the cinema a few days back I’ve been wanting to revisit this documentary which I watched so many times when I became a massive Beatles fan about 15 years back. The ending though always leaves me heartbroken. 

I mean it’s great documentary to show Lennons story in the US. Briefly touching on the tough ride he had when he landed which the One to One really expands on magnificently. Goes through those dark days he had without Yoko in LA and then finally we see the happy, peaceful time he had becoming a better dad to his new son Sean. 

There’s a horrible moment in this documentary where you see some lovely moments of John at home with Sean and Yoko and you know that all that is unfortunately coming to an end. Even though John died before I was even born, being such a big Beatles fan it always feels personal that someone took this iconic man away from us. Robbed us as fans of so much good music and a robbed Yoko of her husband and Sean and Julian of their dad. 

It’s a really well made documentary which shows some Lennons real low moments in the US but also shows how much of a normal man he was. It’s great to see those moments where he stepped away from being the ex Beatle and megastar musician and see him become a family man.  

Well worth a watch if you a Beatles fan but maybe don’t know much about the story of Lennon after the band split. It shows many sides to this man who unfortunately didn’t get to live as long as he should have.

An absolute classic! 

I had a very good time rewatching this tonight. I fancied something petty short which I knew I liked and this film strung to mind. The design of Frankensteins monster is really impressive for the time. 

I know it’s getting to be a very old film now but I think it is one of those classics that everyone should see. So if you haven’t seen it then change that and give it a watch!

One of the best Godzilla enemies! 

This is my second time watching this and you might have guessed why. Thank you Criterion! I’m really hoping that criterion continue to release more of the Godzilla films we don’t have here in the UK because my god was it hard enough to watch them all the first time round! 

For me, once you get ed the first Godzilla film it’s all about, what monster is he going up against? This after Hedorah, the slim monster might be his best. Biollante is just so different and creative and I absolutely love that. Godzilla obviously goes up against other monsters a lot so when they got more creative like this I love it! 

Some of the cinematography in this film is really stunning. Like when Biollante first appears out in the ocean. Those shots with the most rolling in is just fantastic. Also the score throughout this film is absolute fire and love that they wasn’t afraid to use the original theme. Don’t know why some Godzilla films were. 

The film also has a decent set of human characters. Something which is hard to find in these kind of films. Only gets harder when you look at the American films. Also had a few good action sequences with them. 

Got to say that this is definitely one of the better Godzilla films. Great action, amazing villains and a good story. Also the effects in this one are pretty good. For the budget these films are on you gotta respect how good they actually look.

The world misses you John! 

This was a really fantastic bit of film. Now I’ve watched my fair share of documentaries on John Lennon and especially on this period of time for him and Yoko. I mean this is when Johns voice was as loud as it would ever be. This kinda documentary really shows what an intelligent, caring and wise person Lennon was! 

I loved the way this was structured. Like you were watching TV with John and Yoko in their little New York apartment. It was fun to see the old TV commercials play throughout. Even if they maybe did show a little too many. It was also great to see the other inbetween moments highlighting what was going on in the world at the time with the war, or the president or even someone going through Bob Dylan’s trash. 

One of the few things I never liked much from John was his third proper solo album with Yoko, Some time in New York City. This however gave me a lot more appreciation for the songs. That album was a political revolutionary album whether it focused on the war in Vietnam or the sentencing of a man for ten years because he smoked some dope. It was really great to see the meanings behind those lyrics and gave me more appreciation for that album. 

Also I couldn’t believe how well they replicated John and Yoko’s small apartment. I loved it when the camera panned around the room and you could see records spread across the floor. I picked out Abbey Road, a Billy Preston one, I think a Dylan one. Then spotted the lyric inner sleeve from Sometime in New York City and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw McCartney’s Ram on the floor. If you know, you know. 

This was just so well put together and shows what an incredible man John Lennon was. Yeah, there was some strange things him and Yoko used to do but his heart was in the right place and all he wanted to do was help people and make the world better. An absolute legend who the world is truly missing. 

Also want to add how much I loved seeing this on the big screen in imax! Truly fantastic experience.

Boring and bad!

This series of films hasn’t exactly capturing my attention super well but the first two films were at least watchable. This was just so bad. Awful characters, boring action, uninteresting plot and it seemed so cheap. Like barely any cool alien scenes in this one.

Now I did buy the 4K of this when it released so I’m not really sure why it’s taken me this long to rewatch it because I really liked it at the cinema. Anyway, my opinion on it hasn’t really changed so if you my thoughts on it before then it’s kinda the same thing. 

Thought the characters where decent and the deaths a lot of them got where super fun and creative. Loved that they made the face huggers a bit more of a threat throughout the entire movie. The alien itself took a little more of a backseat which I’m hoping won’t be the case in the next film but didn’t mind it as we got more face hugger action and that monster at the end. 

I got to speak about the monster at the end as I know some people loved what they did there and then some people hated it. Personally… I LOVED it! I really liked that they explored a new species with mixed DNA coming from a human. Also loved that they linked it to the engineers from Prometheus. 

Film itself has great pacing and just flows really well. Isn’t too long or too short and has an acceptable amount of action. Does a good job at giving the audience what they want and still exploring some new territories. Like seeing the alien egg thing from when it goes from a baby to fall size. Loved that this film showed us new things. Really great edition to this universe!

WB… Fuck you!

Let me give you a little history with me and Minecraft… I love this game! I first got it on my laptop which I played for hours. Then I got it on my X Box 360 and then I got it on my PS4 which I still use today over on my PS5. I’ve had many worlds on that with friends where we have spent so many hours on it. Even got it on my Nintendo Switch and most recently on my IPad. So yeah, I’m a pretty big fan of the game. 

I don’t actually know where to begin with this film. My positives would be that Jason Momoa had maybe two jokes which landed. Also bless Emma Myers, I do think she actually tried to put a good performance in but didn’t get the memo from the other cast to not bother. Also there’s a scene which plays over the credits which features a pretty cool voice cameo.  

That’s about it to be honest. The plot of the film was just nonsense. It really didn’t acknowledge much of how the game works. Instead it just threw objects and monsters from the game at you. I understand that it’s a difficult task to translate Minecraft to film but I still think they managed to do a terrible job. 

I know that a film where all the lead characters were made out of blocks wouldn’t have sold either but seeing people in this world is just weird. I hated all the start of the movie where they was in the real world. It just all felt so forced and rushed. 

The editing and pacing of this film is absolutely abysmal. It rushes through everything and while it does that it leaves you feeling very unconnected to all the characters. Nothing in the real world actually feels real and all the relationships between characters just feels so obviously fake. 

Again I’m very awake this is based off a game where it’s all blocks, so some people may use that as an excuse but man the film was ugly. Some of the effects were just total trash. Like this is one of the worst looking films I’ve seen in a while. Not all of it, but a lot of it. 

I just realised I haven’t spoken about Jack Black yet. He is so annoying in this film. Like honestly he just shouts everything he says and it’s unbearable by the end. Also they let him sing like three times. I’m going to channel my inner Arron Paul when I say we can’t keep letting him get away with this! 

I’m sorta out of things to say on this now. I love the game but this was just dreadful. Me and my friend were honestly debating when leaving the cinema if it’s the worst film we’ve seen on the big screen. This film was just really, really bad.

Should have been called an Avengers film!

I still going to the midnight screening of this. Back when I think a lot of us were more excited about Marvel films. Anyway, I’ve seen the film a bunch of times since it’s released. It’s a popular one to go one when I’ve been round mates houses and yeah, I’ve put it on a couple times over the year including today. Once again I had a good time with it. 

I think that the film has a few standout plot holes. Like how all the Avengers are exactly where Zemo needs them to be at the right time. I don’t care what you say the villain of this film, while he is smart and a well written villain, he’s also one of the luckiest villains in any comic book movie. 

I love seeing all these characters but it doesn’t particularly feel like a captain America film. Which is a bit of a shame as it never felt like our original Cap got a proper trilogy. Still doesn’t take away that this is a good film though. 

Also introduced us to Black Panther who I didn’t appreciate loads when the film came out but I’ve really grown to love. Especially when he would appear again before Chadwick’s sad ing. Also the MCU’s spider man who is a lot of fun. 

I miss getting marvel films like this. Unfortunately when they try to do serious now we get things like the new captain America which kinda sucked. Or they then go do something kinda lazy like the new dead pool but no matter what, I hope they don’t try to do things like ant man 3 anymore.

Took its time to find its feet!

I’m always a bit of a sucker for true story movies. Especially ones where I don’t know much about the outcome. That’s ones of the things I really liked about this. I honestly didn’t know if all of these three men would make it out alive. 

ittedly I wasn’t feeling the film loads to start with. I do think it took its time to find its feet and to make the audience feel much. It did get there and I think with its second act it did give the audience a little more to work with and then finished on an interesting final act. 

The three lead actors all give solid performances as well and definitely helped to bring these characters to life. Being based on a true story I find it hard to critique the plot but I do feel like they had to stretch it in a few areas to get it to a worthy film length. 

Overall it was a decent film. Nothing particularly amazing and one I don’t think I’ll come back to, to be honest but it was still decent. I think if you enjoy these kind of movies then you’ll get some entertainment out of it but there’s definitely better ones out there.

What an absolute waste of time!

Now I watched this film for the cast. It has a really solid line up and thought it would be fun to see them take on some zombies. I’m just kind of lost for words at how bad the film was though. 

The film just feels so lazy, like there was no ion behind making this one. It has weird delays between bits of dialogue delivered by the actors that make it feel like they are trying to stretch this film to an appropriate runtime as much as they can. 

It has a massive identity crises. It doesn’t know if it wants to focus on being a comedy or then a horror and even taps into some sci fi. There are bits in the plot which just are not explained or don’t make sense. 

I’ll be honest I just think this is one of the worst films I’ve seen in a while. It was just really bad!

So much fun!

I mean it wasn’t the best one yet but I’d say I had the most fun with this one. At this point I feel like you’ve got a good blend of the film still linking to the first movie and having fun with itself as well. 

The characters were decent but I’m not here for them. What I’m here for and I think most people are, are the deaths. And they do not disappoint in this one. They are getting more creative with them here which I personally enjoy more from these kind of movies. I’m not here to take this seriously. 

So yeah, this was a very fun time. It’s silly and has some laughable moments and while it won’t blow you away by any means it is really fun. That’s the main thing I want from these kind of movies and yeah, it did what I wanted it to. Now I’ve heard the fourth film is pretty awful so will see how that one compares.

Oh yeah!!! Vector Cameo finally! 

Honestly the final couple of minutes when they had every character show up was kinda fun. That’s purely the only reason this film got as okay of a score as it got. As other than that, this film got everything wrong. 

Look I appreciate these films are made for kids and you’ll see I have the first 3 films all positive scores. They are not great but for what they are, family friendly kids films, they do their job well enough. This one though just kinda really sucked that it’s hard to even use that excuse. 

Like the lack on minions was really weird. They are the best thing about these films. I mean they even got their own spin offs but here they put them to the side and the only thing they do is make some of them superhero’s. Anyone else sick of superhero’s finding their way into every franchise? 

All the new characters where kinda lame and even the villains where bland. I mean they had Will Ferrell voicing the villain as well. What a waste. I don’t know why they don’t do Vector as the main villain again. 

The plot is what it is. I don’t want to criticise it too much because it is a despicable me film. It just all feels more uninteresting though. Each film gets more and more like that and now finally with the 4th one I think they’ve just ran dry. 

By far the worst in this series of films and that’s including the minions spin offs. These films have never been great but they’ve also not been boring, until now!

Ding fucking dong! 

I can’t believe they gave us the best entry into this series this late. I think that because I wasn’t wowed by the previous three films and that we are on film number four, I just wasn’t expecting this to be very good. It really did tap into some unexpected emotions which I loved. 

Everyone experiences loss but how we deal with it is different and this film captures that so well. We’ve come so far in this series of films from a funny rom com to what we have here. After Bridget Jones Baby which seemed to slip into a careless sequel here we got a much more mature film. 

The new characters were great and easily the best new characters since the original. Also the returning cast was great. Hugh Grant is obviously amazing but got to say I love Emma Thompson. She’s an absolute power house of the British actresses currently going. 

So yeah, wouldn’t say I loved the film as I’m not really its target audience but can certainly appreciate this one. My favourite of the four films in this series and loved the tone it took.

This could have been better!

Honestly I saw the reviews and wasn’t expecting much. Yeah, it was alright and maybe 3 stars is a tad too kind but I think just seeing Clint on screen again is always a treat. The movie itself is really as mid as it gets unfortunately. 

I don’t know if maybe being in front of the camera took a lot of Clint’s focus away in of the directing with this one because I found a lot of the film very uninteresting. The plot did have a fair bit to go over but I felt the setup was pretty bland and then the ending rushed. The second act was pretty good though when it was kinda a little road trip movie. 

Clint himself was very good and even with his age it’s great to see him still giving solid performances. The characters were all pretty mid though with little to expand upon due to the plot not giving them much. 

Kinda run out of things to say with this one to be honest. There’s some good moments to it but overall falls a bit flat because of some really uninteresting moments. Think maybe Clint might be struggling at this age to do both, act and direct the same film.

Loved this one! 

I’m honestly just a sucker for those cheesy 80s films with great practical effects. That’s exactly what this was. I had no idea what the plot of this was going into it. Really went in a direction I didn’t expect and I was so invested in the story. 

Once you figure out what direction this is going in you kinda just roll with the punches with this but then the final act really comes alive. When our lead character becomes more of the monster/Fly it’s really fantastic. The practical effects they use are brilliant. 

If you haven’t seen this then I can’t recommend it enough. It was just super fun and really unique. A Frankenstein style film with a fun twist!

Better than expected! 

I was honestly just expecting these films to drop off after the first but this was surprisingly good. I really liked how it took a different approach to the first one and kept it connected. 

The deaths in this one were also better than the first film. More gory and I like that they are getting more creative with them. Some surprising ones as well. Like when there was a double one in the space of a minute. Always here for that kind of stuff. 

So yeah, surprised with this one which I’m happy about. Really solid follow up which I wasn’t expecting!

No Hugh Grant hurt this film!

For me this is definitely the weakest one so far. I’m not entirely sure what it is but I just didn’t connect with this one as much. I know these films don’t exactly try hard to push their boundaries but this one just seemed to be a bit extra on its lack of trying to be interesting. 

I wouldn’t say it was bad but just not really any good either. It plays for so many generic elements. All the twists the film thinks it has and shock reveals which are just not shocking at all. Also things like the music choices just annoyed me a bit. Just really screaming, generic and lazy at times. 

I did like the dynamic between the two leads in this and I love Collin but I do think this film was hurt by not having Hugh Grant in it. I found all my favourite scenes in the first two films involved him and without him in this one, it was just no where near as interesting as the others. 

Overall, I feel like you have to be a middle aged woman to enjoy this one. I’m not the target audience but I can still appreciate elements of the first two and then this one I feel just dropped the ball. Thankfully I’m hearing the new one is really good. Maybe even the best of all of them?

Caught it on TV!

I mean I just love this film. In fact I love all the first 3 films. They are just such a blast. Great adventure films with really fun characters and great effects. These films don’t get the recognition they deserve with the effects I don’t think. They are stunning films.
