Reichardt is the latest filmmaker to successfully emulate 1970s filmmaking. I will have to revisit as I was in and out of sleep at points though Reichardt makes that a soothing experience — still, It was cool to see the very last screening of this year’s Cannes.

It’s not unentertaining but it has no staying power. Alexandre Desplat though, he went to Wes Anderson and said I want to make history, and that’s what his score is.

Yeah well any movie that opens with *that* is guaranteed to be a wild ride. Hilarious and stressful in equal doses, Emma Seligman's feature debut perfectly conveys the horror of family gatherings under a roof of raging dysfunction. Not saying I relate to the plot at hand, but I connected to the type of event they had set up. Being dragged from one person to another, the formalities and hearing that question about career prospects dozens of times sent chills down my spine. My first fave film of this year... brb recommending this to everyone.
