18×2 Beyond Youthful Days

“I wonder if this trip will change anything… It needn’t be the sole purpose. Some times you can travel to reassess your own life.”

With life at crossroads, what started out as a self reflective travel in search of an unrequited love with nostalgic sprinkles, twisty turns the entire journey into a heartfelt love letter, making even the tragic bittersweet final act feel so endearingly kind and deeply meaningful. It gets beautifully woven and pictured, organically balancing out the cute chirpy energy of the past with the deep melancholy of the present. Had a few dips, but ends up as one highly satisfying romantic drama.

Vijay Kumar makes a bold debut with a simple yet hard hitting drama, one that explores the prevailing complex social and political dynamics in an intensely raw and realistically gripping manner. Though the pacing is uneven and the shoestring budget is quite visible, the strong content, brutally violent action sequences, razor sharp dialogues, solid music and crisp runtime make up for it and ends as one solid watch.

Wow, this movie really took me by surprise. The way it blends social satire with a hearty optimistic drama was really commendable. It neatly es on its message with subtle commentary and flows along with effortless ease, keeping you engaged right through its 2 hours. The way they used the veil in such an ironical manner was just fantastic. Songs were simple and beautiful. Dialogues were sharply written. The pre climax and climax leave you on a gratifying high. Highly recommended feel good watch.

A heartwarmingly beautiful love story set in the age of capitalism; the dilemma between chasing your dreams and falling in love. The timeline made it all the more special, depicting the transition of people from mainland China to Hong Kong with different aspirations. The lead pair chemistry was terrific, with Maggie Cheung stealing the show with her breathtaking performance. Her act during the death of her husband was just outstanding. The finale gives a beautiful touch to the start of their destiny together. Loved the Watch !!!
