They did it again. I love trusting Ethan Hunt!

It does start a little messy, with a ton of exposition dumped throughout the first hour. They seemed to hold our hands a little bit too much, but I did not really mind it that much because there were still moments during that first hour that I liked. I can totally understand why lots of people are taking issue with it though.

Everything else in that last hour 40 is so fucking good, that the first hour being a little rushed doesn't even matter. They completely outdid themselves with the two big stunts in this one. Both are among the best in the franchise. The submarine and underwater stuff had me on the edge of my seat locked in. Everything at that moment was working to perfection, from the cinematography to the score to the lighting to the physical performance by Tom Cruise. I mean easily one of my favorite action sequences out of all 8 of these movies. The plane chase stunt is also probably the greatest stunt ever done. Like the stuff I just saw Tom Cruise do, hanging off an airplane is insane. Truly jaw-dropping stuff from Tom Cruise (once again lol). This is one that must be seen in IMAX. Those aspect ratio changes had me levitating again, just like Fallout.

The cast all do their parts once again. You can always count on these movies having good performances from the cast. Loved that they brought back William Donloe and had him be part of the team. Really enjoyed his character in this one.

It's not perfect by any means and definitely has its issues in the first half, but for the most part of it, I was sitting there in awe of the filmmaking on display. McQuarrie and Cruise are unstoppable together, and I hope they never stop making movies together. I know I just started and finished this franchise this month, but it is easily my favorite ever. I do not think a franchise has ever had this many bangers. I consider all of these besides M:12 to be some of my favorite movies of all time already, and I think if this is the end of it, this was an amazing send-off

So good

This review may contain spoilers.

No surprise at all that I loved this one as well. McQuarrie and Cruise delivered again. I think this one pays homage to De Palma in a lot of ways, because it feels closest to the original in of just the overall vibe of it. Especially in that first hour. The pacing is fantastic as well. 2 hours and 40 minutes fly by.

The cast continues to be fantastic. There are not many franchises that can consistently add new characters, and have them always work, but these movies do it every time. Pom Klementieff and Hayley Atwell are so much fun as these characters. The idea of making the villain Al is so interesting to me and I think for the most part it completely works here. There is obviously one big decision that I didn't love, because getting rid of my second favorite character in the franchise sucks, but I don't think it was executed as badly as many people say it was. Definitely wish we could've had Rebecca Ferguson continue on though, because she is so great.

As for the action in this one, it is just as good as you continue to expect from these. Tom Cruise continues to be a man. The big jump off the cliff is truly one of the most insane things I've ever seen in a movie, and it's not even one of the top 3 craziest things Tom Cruise has ever done Imao. He is just built differently. They also literally fight on top of a train in this one, like how could you not love it? That whole final set piece on the train is so impressive.

Also, it looks amazing and sounds amazing. The score in this one is one of the best of the whole franchise. I haven't really talked about the scores in these movies, but they always slap. Lorne Balfe cooked so hard with this one. Everyone cooked so hard with this one. Everyone cooks so hard with all these movies.

Holy shit I just witnessed peak.

In absolute awe of this one. Stunning cinematography. The best looking in the whole franchise. More crazy stunts by Tom Cruise. The man is so goated, like how does he keep pulling this stuff off? The halo jump and the helicopter fight with the expanded aspect ratio had me levitating. The exchange scene with the brilliant score playing is amazing. Another awesome motorcycle chase. The roof jump. The bathroom fight. I mean I could go on all day about how insane and awesome the action sequences are in this one. Can't really even pick a favortie because every moment in this movie goes so hard. 

The cast is great as expected with some more fun character additions. Henry Cavill and Vanessa Kirby are both great in their roles. I think all the twists and turns in this one work to perfection. Love the story of following the fallout of the Syndicate and the complications with it. Loved that they brought back Lane. Loved that they also brought back Julia to up the stakes even higher. All of this stuff comes together for a fantastic ending. Everything in this movie is firing on all cylinders.

I know I just said Rogue Nation was my favorite, but it's like every new one gets better and better. I love all of these movies, but really doubt anything will ever be ahead of this one.

Not just the best of the franchise, but simply one of the greatest action movies I have ever seen. Remarkable stuff. God mode action filmmaking.

Rebecca Ferguson 🧎

Features some of the greatest sequences in the franchise so far. The opening plane heist, the opera, the underwater mission, THE CAR CHASE!! I mean all of those are unreal and some of the coolest stuff ever put to screen. The stunts and action sequences are consistently amazing in all of these movies. 

Along with all the amazing action, it adds in a great villain, more interesting character additions, an interesting story and an ending that sticks the landing. All this makes it an absolute blast from start to finish. Alec Baldwin is a great addition, but the real star here is Rebecca Ferguson. Immediately liked her character and she was fantastic in this role. 

Christopher McQuarrie's direction is also a big standout here. Now I know why he's directed the last 4 of these movies, because he cooked something special here.

These movies are so damn good. Another one that I absolutely loved. My favorite so far.

I love watching Tom Cruise do absolutely insane things for our entertainment! 

This one is awesome. The only minor issues with this one are that I think the villain is pretty weak, and I missed Luther, but it doesn't really matter because the set pieces are unreal, and it's fun as fuck. Everything that takes place at the Burj Khalifa and in Dubai is some of the coolest action filmmaking I've ever seen. I could watch Tom Cruise run through a sandstorm all day long. Loved this one!

The funniest new movie I have seen in a very long time. Don't think there was a single joke that didn't land for me. I have never heard a theater laugh as much as I did for this one. Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd are fantastic. Loved this so much. My favorite movie of the year as of now.

A unique and thought-provoking film led by three fantastic performances. Alicia Vikander delivers one of the best performances of the year. She was unreal. A performance unlike anything I've seen in a while. Weird in the best way possible. 

Gorgeous cinematography and brilliant futuristic production design that completely immerses you in this believable world created here. Reminded me of Ex Machina with its quiet sci-fi feel to it and also a Yorgos film with just how weird and bizarre it gets at times. Balances between being funny and bleak very well, with a hard-hitting ending that closes it out pretty strong.

Really liked this! Impressive and intriguing debut from Fleur Fortuné.

Simple and charming buddy road trip film. Genuinely funny and heartfelt. A film that feels very familiar with its delivery, but executes it well enough to make it enjoyable and not just feel like a rip-off of similar films. A lot of these types of films suffer from being the same exact thing as others. This one feels like it has its own touch to it. It's not perfect, but it delivers exactly what you would want from this type of film and I enjoyed my time with it. Michael Cera and Michael Angarano are great. Their chemistry together helps carry this one all the way through. Pretty good stuff here from Michael Angarano, directing wise, as it's only his second film. Interested to see what he does next.

All vibes, zero plot. Would have been really cool as just a 20-30-minute short or music video to go along with the album, but as a feature-length film it just doesn't work that well. Some good stuff, but also a lot of bad. As for the experience I had watching this, it was still pretty cool. It looks and sounds as amazing as expected. Listening to the Weeknd in those theater speakers is something else. The dream sequences are awesome. Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan are great, even though they aren't given the best material to work with. I just don't even know if you can really call this a movie. It just feels like a very long music video. If you are not a fan of The Weeknd, you are probably going to hate this. He's one of my favorite artists ever, so l got some enjoyment out of this, but as a movie, it's not very good.

Hell yeah. I do not understand how there are people who don't like this one. I mean, all I needed to see was Philip Seymour Hoffman as the villain, and I'm in, but the whole thing is so much damn fun. This one is filled with insane action sequences and has an actual thrilling plot that is so much better than whatever 2 was trying to do. Goes back to focusing on the spy elements that made the first one so good. More disguises and twists and turns. The love interest here is actually interesting and made me care about the character. Leaning more into Ethan's personal life here gives the movie such higher stakes. Love all the new team additions in this one, specifically Simon Pegg and Laurence Fishburne. 

Can't talk about this one without mentioning Philip Seymour Hoffman. He was so good. Everything the man touched turned to gold. You give this character to any other actor, and it probably doesn't come across as a great villain, but PSH completely brings this character to life with his fantastic performance. Every scene he is in is electric. Truly, no one like him and I would not be surprised if he remained my favorite Ml villain once l finished all of them. 

This one rocks so hard. There is just so much to like about it. Won't let anyone tell me it's bad. Exhilarating movie

I know everyone is comparing this to Bullet Train, but there really is no other way to describe it other than a bad version of Bullet Train set on an airplane. 

Josh Hartnett is good, but he also just doesn't have the same leading prowess that Brad Pitt has, so it can't really save the movie.

Didn't think this was anything special, but it is an extremely solid and well-made movie. Good performances and a tense atmosphere. John Carpenter always cooks so hard with his scores and this one is no different.

Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe and Vampires. What more could you possibly need?

Such an interesting take on the Vampire Genre. It has a very cool aesthetic and feel too it. Love the production design and the world building, imagining this world that is run by vampires. Every scene feels full of detail. The effects, for the most part, are really good. Ethan Hawke and Willem Dafoe are both great as expected. The story for sure could've been fleshed out more, and I think this would've benefited from being a bit longer, but it still delivers in its 98-minute runtime. Certainly not the best thing ever and it has its issues, but for the most part I thoroughly enjoyed this.

The Spierig brothers made this and Predestination, which are both really good movies, and then they completely fell off. Hate to see it, because they seemed like really interesting directors from those two movies.

I don't think it’s bad, but clearly a massive drop in quality from the first one to this. Lacks the talent of De Palma behind the camera. Doesn't have the same feel. Honestly, this one just feels like a generic 2000s action movie. 

The plot is weak and the romance between Ethan and Nyah is so uninteresting and rushed. Did not care about her at all. The villain also sucks. It honestly felt like Tom Cruise was a background character for the first half of the movie. I also, for the most part, hate slo-mo in movies and this is full of corny slo-mo shots. It felt like this movie was too focused on trying to look and be cool, instead of delivering something good. 

With all that said, Tom Cruise still rocks and gives it all he can even if the movie isn't great. There are a couple of awesome moments here and there, but most of it is overshadowed by all the bad stuff. Overall, a mess, but not the worst thing ever.

Finally, time to watch these movies. I've been waiting until we get closer to the new one's release, so I can start them.

What a start. It has that classic spy movie feel, with disguises, double-crosses and plenty of twists and turns. Has that classic De Palma feel with his genius camerawork. Full of tense and entertaining sequences. The Langley sequence is so fucking good. Had me locked in. The cast is super fun, with Tom Cruise leading the way being great as always. It gets a little silly at times, but that only adds to the fun. Just an absolute blast of a movie. I kind of knew I was going to love it, so not surprised at all. Brian De Palma has way too much sauce and Tom Cruise is just the coolest guy ever. Can't wait to check out the rest!

Nothing special, but a pretty fun movie. It's a quick and easy watch. Simple and straightforward. Very similar to Quiz Show. If they had dived into this character a bit more, I think this could've been really good. Paul Walter Ha is great as always. Wouldn't have worked without him.

"We are like the dreamer, who dreams and lives inside the dream. But who is the dreamer?" 

Not only the greatest season of television ever made, but one of the greatest artistic accomplishments of all time. What David Lynch and Mark Frost created here is nothing short of extraordinary. The most complex and thought-provoking piece of media I think I have ever experienced. I love how there are basically a million different ways you can interpret this and that is the beauty of it. I have so many thoughts about what it all means, but have no clue how to put it into words. Everyone will get something different out of it and take away what they believe. That is the beauty of all of Lynch's work. 

The first time l watched this I was expecting something completely different, and I think it altered my thoughts. I wasn't a big fan of Dougie Jones the first time, because I wanted Dale back immediately. This time, knowing what kind of happens, it was a completely different experience. I now love Dougie Jones. Kyle MacLachlan is absolutely unreal this season. He plays multiple different characters, and each one is perfect. Do not think it is crazy to say it is one of the great television performances of all time. All the cast additions are awesome as well. Naomi Watts and Laura Dern teaming back up with Lynch in Twin Peaks is so cool. Matthew Lillard is fantastic. James Belushi and Robert Knepper as the Mitchum Brothers are hilarious. The casting director really cooked for this season.

This is a season of television that you absolutely have to watch at least more than once, and one that I will probably watch many more times because I love it so much. So many spectacular scenes and awesome character moments. Genuinely, I do not know how Lynch did it with all these characters and plot lines going on and having it all come together perfectly. 18 hours of perfect television. Many of my favorite episodes ever are in this season, including Part 8 and Parts 16-18, which are just unreal. Truly a one-of-a-kind experience. Nothing makes me feel the way this show does. 

I think it sucks so much that David Lynch never got to make so many more projects that he wanted to because idiots wouldn't fund his stuff, but at the same time, he went out with his last major project being one of the greatest things ever made. My goat.

Not going to pretend that I loved this, but there is no doubt that it is one of the better Marvel projects in recent years and a step in the right direction. Feels nice to get a good one after the last three MCU movies, which I consider to be three of the worst of the franchise. I still consider myself an MCU fan, just not nearly as much as I used to be when I started watching movies.

This one feels like a return to what made a lot of those older ones so enjoyable. The story leaves a little bit to be desired, but the dynamic between this team is what drives the movie and makes it a lot of fun. The whole cast is great together, with Florence Pugh leading the way with a brilliant performance. Any MCU movie with Bucky gets bonus points for me because he is one of my favorite characters. The Void was done really well, and had some standout sequences that were awesome. Visually, this movie looks so much better than most of the recent MCU projects. It looks like they actually tried.

Are we back? I don't know and am afraid to get my hopes up because they gave us GOTG3 and then immediately gave us 3 shit movies, so who knows what to expect? Fantastic Four does look promising though.

The only Mann that I have yet to see. I got the chance to see it in theaters for my first watch, and it was pretty damn cool. This movie makes no sense, but it kinda rocks. It looks gorgeous and is paired with the fantastic atmospheric Tangerine Dream score.

The 3-hour cut of this movie probably would've been a masterpiece. I just don't understand how someone can make Thief as his debut film and then a studio just doesn't let that guy make whatever he wants next. A 3-hour supernatural horror film by Michael Mann sounds like the best thing ever, but the studio just said nah. The studio interference is obvious here, because you can easily tell how much it was cut down. It's a mess, but a mess that I enjoyed watching because I love Michael Mann. The lack of explaining and absurd cuts weirdly kind of help add to its dreamy vibe. It also helps when you have Michael Mann behind the wheel. The opening scene is pure Mann. One of the coolest openings in his filmography.

It sucks that he never got to make his full vision for this come true, but I still had a good time with it, even though it’s very clearly a flawed movie.

90 minute movie that feels like it is 2.5 hours. Anthony Hopkins and Bill Skarsgard are good, but can’t really do anything to save this one.

This shit fucking slapsssss. Filled with breathtaking set pieces and more beautiful visuals. I will never get tired of looking at the digital world that Lucas creates in this trilogy, and I believe it is at its best in this one. Features some of my favorite Star Wars moments. Pe's Ruminations scene is up there with the best Star Wars scenes of all time. The Duel on Mustafar is peak. The ending is one of the best in the franchise. Seeing all of this on the big screen was unreal. John Williams was cooking so hard with this score. I think George Lucas is at his best directing and writing wise in this one. The relationship between Pe and Anakin is so much better here, even though there are still some flawed moments. All the actors are delivering their best work of the trilogy. I was a bit too harsh on Hayden Christensen the first time I watched this, because he is not that bad here. Ewan McGregor and lan McDiarmid are so good in this one. Just an absolute blast of a movie. I was so wrong about this one, just like I was about Attack of the Clones. The prequels are great! Seeing this in theaters was amazing. Definitely my favorite of the prequel trilogy.

Perhaps I treated you too harshly.

Same as Phantom Menace with how I can totally see why someone would hate this, but I came out of this having enjoyed it so much more than the first time I saw it. Just an awesome movie in my opinion. George Lucas be doing whatever he wants in these prequels, and I'm so down with it because most of it rocks. It has its flaws for sure, with the obvious issue being the dialogue, especially between Pe and Anakin, but I can look past most of it since I really enjoy everything else about this. Honestly, the first two acts have some of my favorite moments, specifically the chase throughout Coruscant and everything on Kamino. Love the aesthetics once again. It's like a digital dreamland that George Lucas created here and in the prequels in general. I love the look of it so much. Honestly, if it wasn't for just a few bad moments and the endless cringy interactions between Pe and Anakin, this would be up there with my favorite Star Wars movies. Still really liked it this time! I guess I am now a part of the Attack of the Clones defenders and I think I am becoming a big Star Wars guy with these rewatches because I now have the urge to just watch more. Probably going to start checking out some of the shows.
