I when Denis Villeneuve was snubbed from getting a directing Oscar nomination for Dune, people defended it by saying that the Academy was waiting for Dune 2 to reward him. Well Dune Part 2 comes out and he gets snubbed again. Absolutely egregious that the academy failed to recognize Villeneuve again. Not only should he have been nominated for both movies, but you could make the argument that he should’ve won for either movie as well. The way he filmed Dune Part 2 absolutely took my breath away. He took bold, creative risks that effectively enhanced the viewing experience. He’s one of the best directors working today, and should be recognized for it. Do better, Academy.
