Lincoln

2012

★★★★ Liked Rewatched

I was originally planning on finally rewatching Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln in over 5 years now on President’s Day, but I then I found out that Honest Abe’s birthday was actually days prior on the 12th, so I’m watching it today instead. Back in January 2020, I had only seen 3 Spielberg films. Unfortunately, the first one I saw was the crappy live-action Disney version of The BFG when I was 11 years old. Then I saw E.T. on a 8th…

Oppenheimer

2023

★★★★★ Liked Watched

The decision of dropping the atomic bombs on Japan remains one of the most divisive and consequential in World History. Not only that, but it changed the world on the power and the use of nuclear atomic energy. It really must have been a nightmare for Mr. Oppenheimer knowing that he created a weapon of mass destruction that he knew was a solution to ending the war against Japan, but also facing the consequences in the long run. It's such…

12 Years a Slave

2013

★★★★½ Liked Watched

The first time I had even heard about 12 Years a Slave was during the beginning of my 12th grade film studies course when the teacher discussed about the possible films to watch in the class. We didn't end up watching this film unfortunately and what a shame, because this is a very powerful and intense film. I didn't even know anything about the man Solomon Northup and his memoir until I watched this film and this is coming from…

All the Way

2016

★★★½ Watched

Would it be weird to tell you that All the Way was directed by the same dude who directed all 3 Austin Powers movies. Yeah, not kidding. Jeez, what was up with making films about LBJ in 2016? This and the other one directed by Rob Reiner simply just titled LBJ. All the Way deals with the presidency of Lyndon B. Johnson during the Civil Rights Movement in 1964. You know the deal if you seen my other reviews to…

United 93

2006

★★★★ Liked Watched

You know, I'm not even going to joke about anything to this. Paul Greengrass of Captain Philips fame gives a great in-depth view of those who lost their lives not just on United 93, but those on the 3 other planes that were hijacked on the very horrific day. May their lives not be forgotten 21 years later for their sacrifice & heroism preventing United 93 for reaching it's target.

LBJ

2016

★★★ Watched

Wait, so your telling me that the guy who directed This is Spinal Tap, Stand by Me, & The Princess Bride is now making a biopic about a former U.S. President, Lyndon B. Johnson. Well I guess he wants to have some variety. LBJ turns 114 years old today & I almost forget that his birthday was today, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to watch well, LBJ.

As the for movie itself, I don’t really think that Woody Harrelson…

Amistad

1997

★★★½ Liked Watched

I've had Amistad in my watchlist for a while now, so I though that it's about time to watch this one, cause I was in the mood to watch something history-related. It's also about time that I watch something else that Spielberg has made, since it also has been a while & for the most part, I found this to be an alright movie.

I'm not totally aware about all of the historical inaccuracies about the actual events of the Amistad…

1776

1972

★★★½ Watched

Don't worry lads, I'm not dead. I was just on vacation having a fun time. So uh, Happy 4th of July my fellow Americans (if you are one that is). Here's a movie that nobody's probably never heard of because there all more focused on Hamilton that is also based on a musical. 1776 is because what you pictured it to be. A bunch of dudes dressed in fancy clothes yelling about independence & wanting windows to be opened.

Yeah, I'm…

13th

2016

★★★★½ Watched

I've been putting off the documentary 13th for literal months now & I figured that watching 13th on Juneteenth would be the perfect time to watch this eye-catching historical documentary of what seriously f**ked up our country has been to African-Americans in over 200 years.

Now, a lot this stuff that they mentioned in 13th I already knew. Hell, I even knew what ALEC is & why it's such a piece of shit corporation & how it manipulates Congress. It just pulls in…

Primary

1960

★★★★½ Liked Watched

My mean is er uh, JFK, I am running for President. I er uh, shall defeat that triple H, in the primaries in farm land Wisconsin & I er uh, will become the Democratic candidate for President.

A very good documentary about how Presidential Election primaries are & how they work in Presidential Elections. JFK would definitely get my vote in the Democratic Primary in 1960. Sorry, Hubert Humphrey, you'll get another chance to win another year, oh wait.

Young Mr. Lincoln

1939

★★★★ Watched

Life in the 1830's: Duels, Pie Eating & Rail Splitting Contests, & Tug-of-War competitions.
Life in the 2020's: The Internet, Video Games, & NASCAR racing.

You see the different timeline we live in folks. Anyways, Happy Birthday to The Great Emancipator, Abraham Lincoln. This was just as great as Steven Spielberg's Lincoln (2012), but Spielberg's is better.

Selma

2014

★★★★½ Liked Watched

Watching Selma on this Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2022. Everyone knows that Martin Luther King Jr. meant a lot to our country, trying to grant equal voting rights to everyone in the segregated south by using nonviolence. Without him, our country would be going into an entirely different direction for equality.

R.I.P to MLK Jr., John Lewis, & to everyone else.
