Home Alone

1990

★★★★ Liked Rewatched

Home Alone, one of the OG Christmas classics. I literally have nothing else to say about it because everybody in their mother knows exactly why it's such a iconic holiday classic. It has been milked to death with several unneeded sequels & much like I said in my other review, don’t bother watching past Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Speaking of the latter, I’ll be rewatching the 2nd Home Alone for the 1st time in god knows how long…

Uncle Buck

1989

★★★½ Liked Rewatched

30 years ago today, America and the World lost a comedic legend and a great man while filming in Mexico, the one and only John Candy, aka Uncle Buck. Yeah, this film isn’t really as excellent as I originally thought 3 years ago, as well as when comparing it to John Hughes’s other classic films. I still really like it despite some of the flaws I have with the film. I still like Buck and Tia’s relationship changing over the…

The Blues Brothers

1980

★★★★★ Liked Rewatched

Ah, The Blues Brothers. I watching it for the 1st time almost over 3 years ago. I loved it for how wacky of a film it truly is and you know what, this film is still a masterpiece and a wild ride of a time. Like, that whole ending climax with Jake & Elwood on the run from the cops and everything else about is just so much fun. Like, it was so bad that they had to get the…

The Rescuers Down Under

1990

★★ Watched

Hey guys, now that Disney Animation's back on a roll after the success of The Little Mermaid, what should our next film be? I know a sequel to an already existing film, like say The Rescuers. Hmmm, I was on the idea of it being Beauty & the Beast, but hey a sequel to The Rescuers sounds like a great idea! It was not a great idea. John Candy as Wilbur the Albatross was one of the only aspects that I…

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

1987

It's a plane, it's a train, it's an automobile, it's Steve Martin & John Candy and there heading home to Chicago, baby. John Hughes in my heart is one of my favorite directors. Sure, he's had some missteps with some of his other movies, but stepping away from the teen comedies and doing something else for a change was well worth it. I'm actually downgrading my score of Planes, Trains and Automobiles from a 9 to a 8 on rewatch.

It's…

Nothing but Trouble

1991

★★ Watched

Wikipedia calls Nothing but Trouble an "underrated comedy." Uhhh, you call this movie underrated. Bruh, there are so many other better underrated movies with the people that were involved with this you know. However, I will give props though to Dan Aykroyd for at least trying to make his own movie and also the makeup he put on for Judge Alvin.

So, I see that John Candy also got the Jack & Jill treatment ehhh? Oh, Happy Birthday to the late…

Going Berserk

1983

★★ Watched

Volunteers might just be the weirdest & most bizarre movie that I’ve seen with the late John Candy & Going Berserk was what the title implies. I honestly don’t even know what happened man. Okay, John Candy is a dude who is engaged. Awesome. This movie feels more like a bunch of comedy sketches from SNL & I totally went absolute berserk during this because nothing even happened.

I guess having John Candy himself & the Beatles parody guys were cool, but this felt…

Wagons East!

1994

★★ Watched

Wagons East of course was the movie where John Candy met his untimely end while filming in Mexico as the result of a heart attack caused on by stress. However, Wagons East would not be the last movie John Candy starred, as Canadian Bacon was released a year later after the death of Candy & also the release of Wagons East.

Now is it the worst movie in my opinion? Absolutely not, but it's not good or great either however. Hell,…

Almost every movie director has their lowest point, even the great Steven Spielberg with 1941. Not the year, the movie 1941. Spielberg has directed some of the most iconic movies in cinema history & then there's others like this. "A comedy spectacular", oh really now? Honestly, this felt a little like a National Lampoon movie than anything else. Oh yeah, it's also not funny and so f**king boring.

John Candy, John Belushi, & Eddie Deezen are all this but they all barely…

Spaceballs

May 4th is a very special day. It's the day we appreciate the greatness of the greatest parody movie of all time, Spaceballs. Yes, Spaceballs is still considered my favorite movie of all time. Everything about Spaceballs is just fantastic. The jokes, the other movie references, the characters, & even the damn theme song is what makes Spaceballs so great. I mean, how can you resist the catchy theme song for crying out loud!

And of course as Yogurt says, "May the schwartz be with you." Happy May 4th everybody!

Canadian Bacon

1995

★★½ Watched

Canadian Bacon was the final film that John Candy was ever in & let me tell you, this & Wagons East just show you how much Candy has changed until his death. I mean, the dude decided to grow a fricking beard & he's look so different with the extra facial hair.

A bit of a disappointment for Candy's final film honestly. The President doesn't even have a name in this. He's just refereed as the President of the United States. I need to know the guy's name damn it. R.I.P. Mr. Candy. O CANADA, YOU GAVE US JOHN CANDY.

The Great Outdoors

1988

★★★½ Rewatched

Yet another one I haven't seen in over 3 years. Also, back when I had no idea who John Candy was & how underrated the man truly was. He was just a gentle giant who loved making movies man. A bit late of the date of his death, since I was still doing that stupid Sandler-thon.

I completely forgot about that bear sequence at the end there & how it was played out. The dude shot it in the asshole, took it's…
