]]>Beautifully shot, incredible performances, but unbelievably bloated, convoluted, and LONG. This could’ve lost a solid 25-30 minutes if they didn’t feel the need to keep flashing back over and over again. If the main plot was told linearly, and we only flashed back to get characters’ backstories that would be one thing and that would work. However, the main plot didn’t need to be told jumping back and forth in time every couple of minutes. It was VERY messy. And I can’t really look past it.

]]>A masterclass in story structure. It felt slow for the first half, but that half sets up SO much and so well and the payoff by the end was unbelievably satisfying. And also proper scary. I have a thing with people’s eyes and this movie really decided to hit that nail on the head.

]]>I forgot Chris Cooper raps in this movie and it almost sent me over the edge.
]]>It gets an extra half-star because I liked how all the CGI elements looked (not the green screen whole different beast). But this was quite literally the worst and best theater experience I’ve ever had and that’s pretty much exactly what anyone could’ve expected. If you were there at showcase cinemas Warwick last night at 7:30 in row G, I hope someone sneaks into your room at night and farts on your pillow.

]]>This is my second ALL TIME list, and we are focusing on the best genre, which is HORROR!
One of the most important horror films ever made, causing the genre to be taken seriously in an academic sense, this movie was a huge game-changer for indie horror.
It's The Exorcist.....what the hell am I supposed to say?
The movie that made me ionate about the art of horror.
At a tie with Nightmare on Elm Street for 1st place.
The most genuinely horrifying movie I've ever seen. I will never forget seeing this for the first time on my train home and feeling so cold and empty and frightened.
The most interestingly made film I've ever seen and I can rewatch this over and over again and look for brand new details I haven't noticed yet.
I think about this movie every once in a while and then I will go down a k-hole about the film for days on end.
I rewatch this movie all the time and I find it fascinating as a fellow performer like Nina.
The BEST action-horror movie of all time. I don't care what anyone says. It's a group of badass women, using their heads in a deadly situation, and they kick ass.

]]>These are based on personal enjoyment as well as the quality of the film so EVERYTHING is weighed on those two things.
(I'm constantly updating this when I catch up on movies from this year)
This is my pick though for objective BEST movie of the year. It made so many cinematic milestones in of representation as well as embracing the practical filmmaking process and really making a movie that was a love letter to living.
This was a movie that was one of the only times in my life where I’ve been SO HYPED for a movie and it never ONCE let me down and always kept me gripped.
This was the most effective movie I saw all year. I know not many people found this movie very scary at all but I found this movie TERRIFYING! The first time I saw the film it was very poor quality, I lost my wallet, and the sound kept dipping in and out of the theater towards the end so I didn’t really enjoy the movie. But I did like the script and the characters so when my friend wanted to go see Nope with me I was fully okay with sitting through it again at a much better theater. Only then did I get the full effect of the movie as well as being able to pay closer attention to the finer details in the script as well as the visual intricacies.
I didn’t laugh harder at any movie this year than this one. Rachel Sennott is everything.

First movie in the marathon. It was at the top of my shuffled watchlist. I knew it was another Charlie Kaufman and Spike Jonze collaboration so I knew it would be odd and existential. Probably the strangest start to the summer.

]]>i have hot takes about this franchise. also I haven't seen Solo lmfao whoops
one of the best movies eVeR mAdE
my comfort watch of the originals
the one i've seen the most and therefore the one I want to watch the least of the originals
SHUT UP! OKAY? JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP. LEAVE ME ALONE. I KNOW THE CANTOBITE STUFF IS GARBAGE. I KNOW THE THRONE ROOM FIGHT IS ASS. But the writing is phenomenal and I think that this does what a sequel should do and switch up the formula of a usual Star Wars film and it's just JJ's fault that it didn't work out.
this movie is dope. no there's not much character development. i know that. but listen it's a plot focused movie and it works.
shhhh. this is just my childhood. shhhhh
this movie has kickass moments BUT the acting is horrific tbh and the writing makes me laugh and yawn at all the wrong moments
this movie is just a fun time but I never reach for it when I go to watch a good star wars movie
i like moments from this movie a lot but it's just wayyyyy toooooo looonnnngggggg
this movie is literally a wattpad fanfiction
this list is pretty solid and i don't think will change. and yes kill bill 1 and 2 are DIFFERENT MOVIES FIGHT ME
]]>At the time of ranking this I used the logic of if I were to rewatch these movies in the order that I want to this would be that order. I haven’t seen everything in the MCU like Loki and the first two Ant-Man movies. Oops.

]]>Every new movie I saw in 2020 ranked from best to worst! (Star ratings don’t matter here as I am ranking based on enjoyment level and sustainability.)
This movie just encapsulates everything I would love to make in a movie one day. Bright and beautiful colors and a fun score but focusing on some really dark themes. This is one of my favorite directorial debuts since Lady Bird and I personally think it was the best movie of the year.
This is one of the darkest movies I've seen in a long time but I still adore it. On a story level, it can be a little too complicated, and there may be 1 too many montages. HOWEVER, I still think that this is Christopher Abbott's best performance and should've gotten a ing actress nom. I think Andrea Riseborough should've been more recognized as well for her performance.
This movie just broke me to pieces. It was a heartbreaking yet hopeful journey where Autumn is one of the most beautifully written characters we've gotten in a long time. The two leading performances were SO real and I know this because I know people who have been through this and it's not an easy process and the movie doesn't preach. It's very much so a fly on the wall experience.
