No one ever told me that all of the storytelling and world building that I love is encomed in Gundam. But it is, and I’m all the better for it. 

Zeta Gundam is the step-up the original Star Wars had to Empire Strikes Back. Its gorgeous, its tragic and it really explores humanity’s place in the universe and in warfare in the ways only the best sci-fi can.

Ah... a little break from Gundam, followed by what is now one of my favorite entries in the series!

This is the stuff dreams are made of, a grounded Gundam war-epic about a squadron of Gundam pilots fighting guerilla warfare during the OYW. This kicks ass! It also features that really cool, utilitarian military aesthetic reminiscent of the Vietnam War and the many Vietnam War films, without all the abject real-life horror.

War is bad! But…
