Horrific and disheartening to see. As a human being, what is shown in this documentary should disgust you to the core. Witnessing and hearing what Israeli settlers do and say to—and about—Palestinians is nothing short of a flashback to the same talking points used by past ethno-nationalist movements to justify violence, discrimination, and the dehumanization of those they deemed “less worthy.”

Listening to people like Ari or the Rabbi speak about Palestinians—and realizing they don’t even feel the need to hide what they truly believe—left me with a deep sense of disappointment and confusion. How does one reach that level of hate? How is it possible for someone to completely strip others of their humanity based on ethnicity, religion, or nationality? This documentary didn’t answer those questions; it only intensified my need to ask why we keep repeating these patterns. It’s maddening to consider how people who belong to one of the most historically persecuted groups can ignore their past and replicate precisely what they once suffered, mirroring the behaviour of their own oppressors.

This documentary makes it even more evident that, even if the Israeli assault on Gaza were to stop, it would be nothing more than a temporary band-aid bound to fall off. There is a deeper, uglier issue at play that seems far from being resolved: a profound lack of empathy. From IDF soldiers to settlers, and even a significant portion of the general Israeli population, there is a noticeable absence of empathy toward Palestinians. Whether blinded by religious beliefs about being “promised this land” or “the chosen people,” driven by racist ideologies that equate Arabs with animals, or simply fixated on expanding Israeli territory with no regard for anything beyond that goal—they simply do not care.

All in all, it was sad to witness yet another example of humans being pieces of shit. It seems that, no matter what, we always find a reason to betray our own humanity by stripping it away from others.

Great direction, production and performances. Lacks everything else. No real substance, it is more or less another propaganda movie of the US invasion of Iraq that shows how cool and brave the Navy SEALs are for doing what they do. It limits itself to show the horrors of war in a very shallow and one-sided way, strictly from an American perspective.

Going into it this is exactly what I expected, but I truly hoped it would offer more than that. It didn't.
