Anotha one

Hosts list Here!

Progress: 0/31

Prompts:
1. Let's start off with some appreciation for johnconn, last month's horror host. If you've picked challenge 1, pick a film they've rated 4 stars or higher. If you've picked challenge 2, just try to find one that was made by your country that they've rated. And if you can't, then treat this one as a free space.
2. We're going to travel through time periods. Pick a film produced sometime between 1920 and 1950, preferably a black and white one.
3. Moving up... Pick a film produced between 1950 and 1980.
4. Almost there, now pick a film produced between 1980 and 2010.
5. And finally, pick a film made in the last fifteen years.
6. Now, we're going to cycle through some sub-genres. Let's start off more grounded- pick a slasher movie, or at least a film with a regular human antagonist who wants to kill.
7. Next up, go for a found footage movie- one that's more "real" or one that's fantastic, it's all up to you.
8. Okay, now I'm forcing your hand. Pick an explicitly supernatural movie. Something about a ghost, or a spirit, or a possession, or something in that realm.
9. And next on the list, we have vampires. But feel free to get creative. If your country doesn't explicitly have them, then pick a movie about some sort of humanlike monster who can fly, or transform, or turn others.
10. Now do the same for werewolves. Once again, if your country doesn't have 'em, then find a movie about monsters who transform involuntarily, or hunt in a pack, or have something to do with the moon.
11. We've gotta round this out, so it's time for zombies. Do I even have to tell you that if your country doesn't have zombies, then you're free to pick something else about disease, or corpses, or some sort of real slow monster?
12. Did I leave out your favorite kind of monster? Well, we're going to start diving into some more country-specific themes now, so there's still hope! Pick a movie featuring your country's own prominent monster. So an Irish film about a Banshee, or a Japanese film about a Kaiju.
13. Watch a film that ties into the religion of its country in some way. If possible, try to avoid movies explicitly depicting mythology or folklore (etc), and rather watch something about the practitioners of a religion or belief system. Something about the faithful.
14. Okay, when I said to avoid movies explicitly depicting mythology or folklore? Well, that's because for this prompt, I want you to try to find a movie which, well, explicitly depicts mythology or folklore. Some horror version of an old tale, or barring that, an urban legend.
15. Find a film that pertains to a major holiday. Obviously this would preferably be about a major holiday in your country, but any holiday will do.
16. I've mentioned collaborations with other countries a few times in the ruleset. Well for this one, your film must be a collaboration. (Bonus points if it's between two neighboring, or at least nearby, countries.)
17. Do some research into your country's top genre (romance? action? drama?) and find a horror film that crosses over into that genre. If your country's top genre is horror, well, I guess you've found another free space.
18. The term "elevated horror" is kind of overused (horror has almost always had something to say), but bear with me and find an example of it. A horror movie that's trying to say something about the country and culture that it's produced in.
19. Let's try to find something award-winning. Find a horror film that has won some sort of award from an organization in the same country that it came out in. If you can't find one for whatever reason, find a ranked list on Letterboxd of films from your country and watch the #1 movie on the list.
20. It's pretty common for one country to remake another country's movie. I hardly need to tell you that they're not always good, but go on and watch one anyway.
21. The next little sub-group is all things under-appreciated- some of the ones that might otherwise be overlooked. Try to find an animated horror film. Real simple, this one.
22. Now, watch a film directed by a woman. There are few stats out there on the percentage of woman directors on an international scale, but it's safe to say that they're under-represented, so do your part to the women who are out there directing.
23. Pick a movie that was the directorial debut of its director, preferably one that flew under the radar compared to later films that they made.
24. Try to find a movie with a rating of 2.5 stars or less on Letterboxd, and see for yourself whether it's deserving of that rating or not.
25. We're in the final stretch! Things are going to get just a little bit hodge podge. Watch a movie about siblings, where their relationship plays strongly into the overall film.
26. Now watch a movie with some sort of creepy child. They can factor into it any way you want, just make sure they're in there somewhere!
27. I always like fitting in some shorter movies into this list- it can be tough watching 30 movies in a month. Let's make this easy for you; watch a movie that's 90 minutes or less!
28. Find a movie that's about water in some way. Drowning, the ocean, ice, whatever form it takes is up to you.
29. Let's go beyond the scope of your country for just a second- find a film made there, yes, but about aliens, or outer space, or something beyond our Earth.
30. Pick a film that blends genres. This can be as epic as a horror mixed together with fantasy and westerns, or as simple as a horror movie with a romance element.
31. You've made it to the end of the list! I've handed out a few free choices in these when there's been no other choice, but here's one for everyone. Watch any movie you want from your country!

  1. Sea Fever
  2. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
  3. The Fireworks Woman
  4. House of 1000 Corpses
  5. Naked Cannibal Campers
  6. Slumber Party Massacre
  7. The Death of April
  8. The Gravedancers
  9. The Last Vampyre
  10. Wolves of Wall Street

Let's fuckin goooooo

Hosts list here

Progress: 0/30

Prompts:
1: Oozing Horror
I love a gross, drippy, slimy, goopy horror movie. Pick an Oozing horror, any horror movie that prominently features some goo.
2: Horrors Beneath
Pick a horror film that takes place or has something coming from a sewer, subway, catacomb, crypt, or other man-made subterranean area.
3: Stop-Motion Horror
Pick a horror film prominently (or entirely) featuring stop-motion animation. I think Phil Tippet's Mad God (2021) is amazing, but you do you.
4. Hammer Horror
Does anyone else find Hammer's offerings immensely cozy? Myself and my group of friends do. Even if you don't, there's quite a few of them out there, and why not cross another one off your list?
5. Movie Poster or Box Art
You too can replicate the experience of a pre-internet horror movie selection, just like we all used to do in video rental stores! Pick a horror film purely by its poster / box art. Try to avoid reading the description or looking at reviews or ratings if possible.
6. Drive-In Horror
Today is National Drive-In Movie Day in the USA, marking the day when America's first drive-in theater was opened in 1933, so let's turn off the headlights and enjoy a horror movie you could find at the drive-in.
7. Horror Anthology
Anthologies are the hopeful person's kind of film. Even if the segment you're watching sucks... the next one might be good... right?
8. Folk Horror
We have been blessed these past few years by a resurgence of Folk Horror, which means there's now a ton of new and old films to dig through.
9. Children's Horror
Today is International Children's Day, so pick a horror film (ostensibly) geared towards a younger audience.
10. Director Shinya Tsukamoto
Tsukamoto's Tetsuo: The Iron Man (1989) left a lasting mark at a time when I was beginning to really dig into cinema. Pick a horror film from his directorial efforts.
11. CAT III
Hong Kong's infamous CAT III rating resulted in some of the most bizarre, out-there, and possibly shocking horror films out there. Pick a CAT III film.
12. The Video Nasties
A slew of films were banned in the UK under the Obscene Publications Act, the result of yet another moral panic that always seems to roll around every few years. Clutch some pearls and pick one of these "Video Nasties".
13. Friend, Family or Coworker Recommendation
Ask a friend, family, or coworker for a horror movie recommendation. , internet friends are friends too.
14. Blood or Bloody in the Title
Today is World Blood Donor day, so pick a horror movie with some variation of "Blood" or "Bloody" in the title (there's lots to choose from!).
15. Dad's Favorite* Horror Films
It's Father's Day Bedelia! Let's watch a horror movie that my late father probably liked from this list. If you've seen everything here, or can't get your hands on a pick from this list, ask your father (or a father figure) for a horror recommendation.
16. Hidden Gem - Under 10k Views
Show some love to the underdogs. Watch a horror film with less than 10k views on Letterboxd.
17. Practically Horrifying
There's no denying the talent and craft of many modern CGI artists currently in the industry, but it's hard to beat the presence, physicality, and ingenuity of having effects on-set in real life. Pick a horror film known for its groundbreaking or just plain impressive practical special effects.
18. Local (to you) Horror
Pick a film that was made in your neck of the woods. Obviously, you might have to expand your definition of "local" to find a horror film, so do your best. If you're still having trouble, consider a film that is set in your area, even if it wasn't made there, or, as last resort, you can pick something off of my list.
19. Black & White / Universal Classic Monsters
Consider a Universal Classic Monster film, but any black & white horror film will do.
20. Wheel of the Worst: Ripoff Edition
Each week, my friends and I spin a wheel of (assumed to be) bad movies, directly ripping off RedLetterMedia's "Best of the Worst: Wheel of the Worst" episodes. We've watched a lot of garbage and trash, and I'd like to share the experience.
Spin this wheel of (probably) bad horror movies from this list selected by myself and my fellow "wheel victims" and watch what the wheel has selected for you. If you can't get your hands on whatever you land on (or if you're trying to only watch new films and land on one you've seen), spin again (many of these are available on Youtube and Tubi, however). We will be spinning the same wheel, so don't worry, you won't be the only one suffering.
21. Spooky, Scary Skeletons
I have loved skeletons since I was a very small child, and have never stopped. Pick a horror film featuring skeletal spooks (skulls count because I said so).
22. Giallo
Watch one of those often wonderfully-titled giallos.
23. Fatal Fungal Feature
Watch a fungal feature, any horror film focusing on spores, molds and fungus.
24. Knee-High Nasties
Watch a horror film featuring diminutive monsters.
25. Found Footage / Mockumentary
Watch a found footage or mockumentary horror.
26. Familiar Face
Rewatch a horror movie you watched long ago that you didn't like, and give it another try, preferably something others viewers have enjoyed or that has a high rating on Letterboxd. You might find a new appreciation for it! If you want to go for a bit of extra homework while staying somewhat on theme, also watch a film that you haven't seen before that you don't think you'd like or weren't interested in, but has a high rating on Letterboxd.
27. Creepy Crawlers
Watch a movie featuring bugs, insects, spiders, worms, rats, bats, or any other creepy crawlies / "vermin".
28. Body Horror
Watch a horror film focusing on the (often literal) visceral sub-genre of Body Horror.
29. Most Popular Horror Film on Letterboxd You Haven't Seen
You want to hang out with the cool kids right? Watch the most popular horror movie on Letterboxd that you haven't seen already.
Horror on Letterboxd sorted by Popularity.
30. Birthday Boogey
June 30th is my birthday, so pick a horror movie that was released the year you were born.

  1. Slime City
  2. C.H.U.D.
  3. The House
  4. The Phantom of the Opera
  5. Squirm
  6. Spider Baby
  7. Subconscious Cruelty
  8. The Vourdalak
  9. The Hole
  10. Tetsuo II: Body Hammer

Anotha one! This is my one year anniversary of participating! I have yet to finish a list though ;v;

Hosts list here

Progress: 13/30

Rewatches: War Horse

The Prompts:
1. Happy April Fool’s Day! Watch a comedy starring an actor who isn’t usually known for being in comedic films.

2. An actor who never fails to make me laugh is Peter Falk, who was on my 2022 most-watched actors list. Watch a movie starring one of my all-time most watched actors.

3. Peter Falk often collaborated with John Cassavetes, who is the current subject on my podcast, Gone But Not Forgotten, which I co-host with my best friend Louise. Watch a movie we've mentioned in an episode or starring someone we've covered on the show.

4. The third prompt is also one on The Other Filmmakers Challenge, which I’m co-hosting. Watch a movie directed by an early female film pioneer.

5. Today is the anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death, one of my personal idols and someone who was a pioneer in the music industry. Watch a movie with grunge/punk themes.

6. Watch a movie starring a singer.

7. One of my mom’s favorite singers is Elvis Presley. Watch one of my family ’ favorite films.

8. Watch a movie featuring real-life siblings.

9. John and Joan Cusack are one of my favorite Hollywood sibling duos. They started their careers in iconic ‘80s teen films. Watch an ‘80s movie starring a member of the Brat Pack.

10. While they may not be the world’s greatest actors, I feel like the Brat Pack doesn’t get the recognition they deserve for being the faces of an entire generation/decade of film. Sometimes the rarest movies are the best ones. Watch the most obscure film on your watchlist.

11. I love watching movies that not many people have heard of and finding out which are hidden gems and which ones deserve to be forgotten. I recently made a challenge to watch Oscar nominated/winning films with less than 10k logs on Letterboxd. Watch one of the movies in the challenge.

12. Today is my beloved Saoirse Ronan’s birthday! She is only one of two people who has earned four Oscar nominations by the age of 26. Watch one of Saoirse's movies.

13. Little Women is one of the first films I identifying with on an extremely personal level and was so glad I could watch it at the theater when it came out. Rewatch a movie that changed your life and see if it still resonates with you.

14. I usually gravitate more towards actors rather than directors. Watch a movie directed by an actor.

15. Watch a movie mentioned in Turner Classic Movies’ Essential Directors book.

16. Today is Charlie Chaplin’s birthday, who was a pioneer in acting and directing in the early 20th century. I’ve only seen one of his films and am embarrassingly not very familiar with silent movies (it’s a knowledge gap I’m hoping to fill). Watch a silent film released between the 1890s-1920s.

17. Charlie Chaplin was involved in many scandals, including being on the yacht when director Thomas Ince was murdered (Chaplin was supposedly the intended target). I don’t like true crime but am interested in all the wild stuff that went down in the early days of Hollywood. Watch a movie or documentary about Old Hollywood.

18. Today is Kenny Ortega’s birthday! He was the choreographer for Madonna’s ‘Material Girl’ music video, which pays homage to Marilyn Monroe’s ‘Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend’ number in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. What a movie that he was involved with - whether it be directing or choreography.

19. Kenny Ortega made some of my all-time favorite Disney Channel Original Movies. Watch a DCOM.

20. A majority of DCOMs are available on Disney+ and I feel like the world is so run by streaming services now. Physical media still deserves love! Watch a DVD you own (but haven’t seen yet), something from your library or a video store, or go see a new release at a theater!

21. I’m lucky to have a great video store where I live and I go there often to get recommendations. Unfortunately that means my watchlist piles up and I neglect films I added to it a long time ago. Watch one of the movies that has been on your watchlist the longest or that you've been putting off for a while.

22. I like to ask my grandma for music and movie recommendations from when she was my age. Ask someone you know what some of their favorite musical artists are and watch a movie with one of them on the soundtrack.

23. My grandma grew up in a really small town. Watch a film set in a small town in America (real or nonexistent).

24. Where I live, it rains a lot in the springtime. Watch a movie with a scene set in the rain.

25. The last prompt was recommended by my best friend Louise! She’s trying to watch every single movie in the 1001 Films You Must See Before You Die book. Watch a movie on the list.

26. Today is my birthday!! Watch one of my favorite films.

27. One of my favorite Instagram s is called Cakes in Cinema, which posts stills of cakes from all kinds of movies. Watch a movie featured on their page.

28. I used to bake a lot but don’t anymore. Finish a movie that you started but didn’t complete, or watch a movie on my ‘couldn’t finish watching’ list.

29. While my incomplete watches list is very long, I like to binge actors’ filmographies. Right now I’m focused on Tyrone Power and Henry Fonda. Watch one of their movies.

30. Today is Kirsten Dunst’s birthday! She is one of my favorite actors and I’ve watched almost all of her movies. Watch a film she’s starred in or one of her favorites - list supplied by my friend/#1 Kirsten Dunst fan, Nicholas.

  1. Lay the Favorite
  2. Made
  3. The Godfather
  4. Where Are My Children?
  5. Batman & Robin
  6. Company: A Musical Comedy
  7. Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
  8. The Drum Beats Twice
  9. Short Circuit

1. let's start by getting to know me a little bit :) watch a film from my movie shelf (don't worry - they're pretty much all hits ;)

2. i graduated college this year with a degree in theatre - watch a film that takes place around a group of theatre kids/in a drama program.

3. i work in a classic rock themed coffee shop so i have become quite accustomed to the genre and i find that it makes for great movie soundtracks. watch a film that features a lot of classic rock music or uses a classic rock song for its theme.

4. one of my clearest childhood memories is going to chicago for my eighth birthday and visiting the American Girl Doll store to buy Molly. to commemorate my trip and the doll i still have, watch an American Girl Doll film 😌

5. speaking of being a child, for some reason i hated Cameron Diaz when i was little. i blame it on bad teacher being the first film of hers i ever saw. to apologize and pay reparations to my birthday twin, let's all watch a Cameron Diaz movie.

6. my roommate Kodie is a badass girlie. she turned our basement into a punk DIY house show venue, can toss back a 99 shooter like no ones business, and recently punched a dude twice her size for trying to target our friend in the pit. in honor of her, the absolute love of my life, watch a film featuring a female protagonist with a traditionally boy name.

7. today is apparently national illinois day and funnily enough, i was born and raised in southern illinois! watch a movie set and filmed in the good ole' prairie state.

8. my friends and i are big board game people; in college, we probably had a game night about every other week. watch a film adaptation of a classic board game.

9. my friends and i also have an unhealthy obsession with the classic canadian teen soap degrassi. in honor of the hilarious and somewhat terrible show, watch a movie featuring an actor from degrassi. maybe enjoy a drink while you’re at it, whatever it takes ;) see what i did there? here’s a list

10. i’m also a little obsessed with the tv show glee, so watch a film from my gcu (glee cinematic universe) list

11. i love my letterboxd (and real life) bestie Julia 🥰 - watch a movie from her favorites, and if you’ve seen them all watch a movie from her watchlist.

12. clueless, 10 things i hate about you, and easy A are some of my favorite movies of all time. watch a teen comedy from the 1990s-early 2000s.

13. bakers dozen !! watch a movie with baking or an important baked good. here's a list suggestion: Best Movies Featuring Baking or Baked Goods

15. watch a film with a lead actor that shares your zodiac sign bc who doesn’t love a lil astrology.

16. you know who’s a god among men? Stanley Tucci. watch a movie featuring the Tucc

18. happy first day of Hanukkah! 💙🤍 watch a film that revolves around the holiday or a film by a jewish director.

20. i’m obsessed with the film podcast I Saw What You Did, it's my favorite way to start my tuesdays - watch a movie featured on the pod (list)

21. along with podcasts, i watch a lot of film reviews on Youtube. one of my favorite channels is Amanda the Jedi because i can almost always rely on her to agree with me 😌 watch one of her favorite films!

22. i live in a delusion where i believe one day i will get to marry Bill Hader. to prep - watch a movie that Bill recommends.

23. on top of participating in the monthly scavenger hunts, i've also been working through the year long horrorx52 challenge. i'm going to be a little selfish and use this space to watch a film on my list, and you're going to me :) the list: horrorx52 2022 if you're participating in the same challenge you can watch one of your films instead!

24. alright, it's christmas eve, baby 💚 one of my favorite genres of holiday films is horror, so watch a horror film set during christmas. ‘tis the season!

25. happy holidays, everyone! rewatch one of your favorite christmas/winter films with some family and friends today. i hope your day really is merry and bright. ☺️💓

26. alright, back to our regularly scheduled prompts. weird fact about my mom, she loves a boston accent. so much so that after The Town came out she would put it on to fall asleep to for like two months. in honor of my mother’s taste, watch a film that has boston accents, preferably from actual boston natives.

27. speaking of my mom, and because i’m running out of ideas, watch a movie from my mom's movie shelf since we watched one from mine. :)

28. one of my favorite memes that resurface is the idea to remake a film and replace everyone with muppets except for one character. pick a film you would do this with and let me know which character you would leave human.

29. as mentioned before, i work in a coffee shop. we’re allowed to choose what plays on this small tv in the main lobby, and because i love a good list, i’ve kept track of most movies played by me and my coworkers during my shifts. watch a film from the list that begins with the first letter of your first name (if there isn’t one use your last name, and if there still is not one than shuffle that baby and watch the first one it gives you). movies i’ve put on the tv at work :)

30. as of right now my most watched actor of the year is justin long, and funnily enough, he was my most watched actor last year. what can i say, i love his silly little films. let's watch one.

31. alright folks, this hunt, and 2022, are officially at an end. i had so much fun creating this list for all of you and working through all of this years hunts with everyone. reading all of the reviews, scrolling through list upon list, and chatting with everyone in the discord has genuinely been a highlight of my year. it is such a fun community to have found and to be a part of. thank you guys for participating, i hope you had a great time. now, let's finish this list out!! for your final prompt - rewatch your favorite first watch film of 2022. Let's gooooooooooooooooo!!! I tried to get as many of them to be horror as I could ;v; 27/31 isn't bad I don't think :3

Hosts list here

Progress: 20/31

1. Hey everyone my name is Ndegwa and I grew up moving around a lot but a constant in my life was film. Moving around a lot you get used to long stretches on the road. Watch a road movie.

2. I’ve been into movies for as long as I can , but I think one director who was the most influential on me becoming a cinefile was Christopher Nolan. The Dark Knight came out when I was 11 and blew my young mind with what a movie and acting could be. Watch a Christopher Nolan movie. If you’ve seen them all, watch a movie starring one of the infinite number of cast spawning into his new movie Oppenheimer.

3. My grandfather is definitely someone who was integral in my movie journey. He used to show me all kinds of films when I was little. His favorite genre is westerns and his favorite movie is The Big Country. Watch The Big Country if you haven’t or any other classic western if you have.

4. In my teens I really started paying attention to filmmaking and how films were put together. That being said, I'm a sucker for movies that depict the process itself. Watch a movie about making movies.

5. As much as I love movies, acting is my ion. I’ve wanted to do it professionally forever and some of my big influences were and still are: Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, Robert De Niro, and Robin Williams. You know where this is going. Watch a movie starring Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, Robert De Niro, or Robin Williams.

6. Ok enough about my origin story let’s get into the movies. I’ve watched MANY movies over the last two years and it’s been a pretty great time for discovering older films. Watch a movie off my 2021 Favorite First Time Watches (Expanded) list.

7. For as many filmmakers as I’ve discovered since the world went to shit there are plenty I’ve yet to explore. Watch a film from a director’s filmography that you’ve been meaning to start.

8. I believe that at least if your film friends recommend you a favorite of theirs you should give it a shot. Watch a favorite film recommended from one of your friends you haven’t seen.

9. Visiting/learning about different countries & cultures is important to becoming a more well rounded person. Of course this holds true for being a cinephile. Watch a film from a country you’ve always wanted to visit.

10. So I think that the Planet of the Apes trilogy from the 2010’s is easily one of the best of all time and the final film War for the Planet of the Apes is a masterpiece. But for some reason many people I know haven’t seen it because they never saw the previous installment. Watch the earliest installment of the reboot Apes trilogy you haven’t seen or if you watched them, watch a film from this best sci-fi films of all time list.

11. The Oscars do get it right sometimes but so many great films every year go without a single nomination. Watch a movie that you think should’ve been nominated for an Oscar in any category. Bonus points if you list all the nominations that it should’ve got.

12. Animation is a medium people still don’t take seriously enough, mislabeling it as ”for kids”. Honestly it might be the truest way to tell stories visually. I’m happy that the Annie Awards celebrate animation in all its forms. Watch a movie nominated for an Annie Award.

13. There’s no way I wouldn’t have a horror prompt on here when it’s the season of tricks and treason. I love all genres of film but horror is a genre that feels almost extra special to me because it doesn’t get awards love, it can be crazy and disturbing, and some people simply don’t like to be scared. There have been so many exceptional horror films in the last several years. Watch a horror movie with a 3.5 - 4 average rating.

14. I don’t come to movies in general to feel a certain thing. Sometimes I like to watch a movie that reminds me that there’s still hope in the world. Other times, I want to leave the theater with my soul broken on the ground. And you’re going to me *cue maniacal laugh*. Watch one of Indiewire’s 35 Disturbing Foreign Films to Watch. (P.S. some like Battle Royale and Raw aren’t too bad).

15. Documentaries have been gaining popularity the last few years and they’re definitely still a blind spot for me. Watch a documentary.

16. If you’re like me, one of the factors that goes into picking a movie to watch can be the run time. I have to prepare myself for a long movie and here’s an excuse to see one. Watch a movie that’s three or more hours long.

17. That was a big runtime, give yourself something easy. Watch a movie 100 minutes or less.

18. For these scavenger hunts I try to use movies in my watchlist already. Go to your watchlist, click shuffle, and pick one of the first four movies you get.

19. Like your watchlist on Letterboxd, your watchlist on streaming services can get pretty long. Watch a movie on a streaming service you’ve had on a watchlist for awhile.

20. You’ll never be able to watch everything but that doesn't mean you can’t try haha. There’s plenty of classic movies waiting to be discovered. Watch a film made before 1960.

21. There’s countries who’ve had a vast rich film history since the beginning but I have yet to see a bad film come out of South Korea. Watch a film from South Korea.

22. Mid budget movies were everywhere growing up as a 90’s kid and now…tumbleweeds. I hope one day they can come back. Watch a mid budget movie.

23. City life has always appealed to me since there’s so much to do and the energy of a place with so many different people is intoxicating. Watch a movie that takes place in any major city.

24. Ratings are arbitrary but I still don’t give out high scores a lot unless it really hits me a certain way. Watch a movie I give 4 stars or higher.

25. The 70’s had arguably the best decade of cinema. Popular movies and critical success went hand in hand and we got an amazing group of auteurs, some still making movies today. Watch a movie from the 70’s.

26. That guy Willem Dafoe sure can act huh? I don’t know what to call this Dafoe moment that’s been going for the last five years but I’m loving it. He’s been around for so long portraying widely different characters. Watch a Willem Dafoe movie.

27. Because of the pandemic I think that 2020 will always be a lost year for movies. Virtually no theatrical releases happened so I think people will forget the movies that came out that year. But there were so many great movies that came out and thankfully to streaming services. I will always, especially in these times where movies are not the center of culture, new films and see as many as possible in the theater because more people than ever are able to tell their stories and I think as movie lovers we should now more than ever spread the word of the new. Ok speech over. Watch a film from 2020.

28. Sometimes when I hear people talk about black filmmakers it feels like they’re only talking about the “prestigious” ones that would get Oscar buzz. But of course films by Black filmmakers are so eclectic and can’t be put into one box. Watch a feature film off of the 1800+ Films Directed By Black American Filmmakers list.

29. In January 2020 I decide to embark on a journey of watching 100 Films in 100 Days to expand my horizons further and fill those gaps in my film knowledge. It’s a lot of fun and I definitely recommend it. So for this prompt, watch a film in a genre or time period or country that you’re not well versed in.

30. I’m a theater kid and I love musicals. My favorite was West Side Story (1961), but then last year Steven Spielberg did the impossible and made one of the best even a little better. Yeah come for me in the comments I can take! Anyway, watch a movie musical.

31. Wow, the last prompt. It’s been so fun making this list but something is missing…MUSIC! I listen to film scores now more than I listen to other music. Behind the acting itself, the score is probably my favorite part of the movie. Watch a film off of this film scores list or watch another film composed by one of those composers or even watch a film, composed by one of your favorite composers. The world is your oyster!

If you need an alternative to any of these prompts, watch any movie that I gave four stars or higher. Cheers to spooky season! 🎃

  1. Wolf Creek
  2. Insomnia
  3. The Big Country
  4. Man Bites Dog
  5. The Night Listener
  6. Deep Red
  7. The Cars That Ate Paris
  8. Falsettos
  9. The Housemaid
  10. Rise of the Planet of the Apes

19/31 watched

2. In honor of my name (Dern), watch a film with Laura Dern.

3. Stop motion makes me feel sick and I’ve been scared of it since I was little. We’re overcoming my fear together. As much as I don’t want to, watch a stop motion film.

4. In honor of all the Bechdel Test chatter recently, watch something that es it.

5. I live literally across the street from Astoria Kaufman Studios. Watch a movie that filmed scenes there.

6. Watch a movie with lesbians!!!!!

7. It’s summer in this hemisphere. It’s BEACH WEATHER! Watch a movie that has the ocean on the poster.

8. … though you may not be in this same hemisphere. Watch a movie with snow on the poster.

9. We all know the perfect length of a movie is 90-99 minutes. Watch a movie that is 90-99 minutes.

10. My girlfriend’s favorite actress of all time is Julia Roberts. Watch something with Julia Roberts.

11. I feel like this is the free space of every list. Do yourself a favor and sort your watchlist by popularity, then watch one of the top 3.

12. I’m a chronic rewatcher and always have been. I used to rewatch Because of Winn Dixie and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe incessantly, which I can attribute to jump starting my love of rewatching the same things to discover new things. Rewatch something you love now, or loved as a kid and see what new things you notice.

13. I am a Swiftie, for better or for worse. Watch a movie that Taylor Swift has mentioned, written songs for, or starred in.

14. Something I do in my free time is teach myself languages. I can speak English and read Dutch, and probably hold a conversation with a 4 year-old in Russian and a 1 year-old in Norwegian. Watch a film in a language you wish you could speak fluently.

15. The way my ratings work is that something gets 5 stars if I could rewatch it every day. I’m not the best judge of quality, nor will I ever be a cinephile. Watch one of my 5* movies, and know I could rewatch that every day of my life (and at one point, probably did) and not get bored. I put them in a list to make it easier.

16. Happy Emmys season! Watch a movie with an EGOT recipient.

17. Amy Adams is a two-time Razzie nominee. Watch something that has been nominated for a Razzie. Amy Adams does not have to be in it, but sure would be fun if she was!

18. Watch a movie that has characters that have been turned into Funko Pop! vinyl figures. I only own two (Beca Mitchell and the Scarlet Witch), but I think the fandom around them is so interesting.

19. If it’s not clear by now, I love women, and women in film. And that’s not just limited to in front of the camera. Watch a movie from this list made by TIFF.

20. Watch a movie starring someone with the same name as you.

21. Watch an adaptation of something. This list has notes that tell you the source material.

22. Sometimes I’ll text a friend for a movie recommendation and completely ignore it. Text one friend for a movie recommendation and do NOT ignore it.

23. My friend Paul made up #16. His favorite actor is Andrew Garfield. Watch something starring Andrew Garfield.

24. I ittedly really disliked Arrival the first time I saw it because I’m just not a sci-fi gal, but now it’s a 5-star for me. Revisit a movie you originally disliked and see if it’s grown on you.

25. Like I said before, I live across the street from Kaufman Astoria Studios. They film Sesame Street there, and have many of Jim Henson puppets on display at the Museum of the Moving Image, which is attached to the studio building. Watch a Jim Henson film.

26. Music can make or break a movie. If you go on IMDb, they have an advanced search. Change the drop down from “plot” to “soundtracks,” you can search music. Look up one of your favorite songs, and watch a movie it has been in.

27. There’s something very healing about watching a movie that you know would have helped you when you were younger. Watch a movie you wish you could show your childhood self.

28. When I say I am a chronic rewatcher of things, I mean I have watched The Haunting of Bly Manor in its entirety triple-digit amount of times. Watch something from the Mike Flanagan universe. Alternatively, watch an adaptation of The Turn of the Screw.

29. Recently, Halsey said they wanted Millie Bobby Brown to play them in a biopic. If you were to pick someone to play you in your biopic, who would it be? Watch a movie with that person.

30. I should wrap this up soon. Before I go, my friend has asked if her list is too specific. Would you mind watching an Old Hollywood Film with a Downer/Bittersweet ending?

31. Saving the best for last: I went to London in May to see Amy Adams on the West End (and met her! Twice! And it was the happiest I’ve ever been!). Watch a film starring Amy Adams.

augh

Hosts list here!

Progress: 2/30

Prompts:
1. Happy April Fools’ Day! Watch a movie centered on pranks, hijinks, or schemes.
2. My dad is the one who really got me into movies and some of my earliest memories of movie watching include watching classic Universal monster movies and Elvis movies with him. Watch either a Universal monster movie or an Elvis movie.
3. I absolutely love going to see movies in theaters! However, I am not always the best about actually seeing my anticipated releases when they are in theaters. Watch a movie you meant to see in theaters, but didn’t get around to it.
4. I am actually starting this month off on a trip to Disneyland! However, I am typically a Walt Disney World visitor with EPCOT being my all time favorite park. Watch a movie from one of the countries in EPCOT’s World Showcase (Mexico, Norway, China, , Italy, America, Japan, Morocco, , the United Kingdom, and Canada).
5. I grew up near Dayton, Ohio, aka the birthplace of aviation! In honor of my hometown, watch a movie that heavily features aviation.
6. Not only did I grow up in Ohio, but I actually grew up on a pony farm! Watch a movie that prominently features a horse or pony.
7. Something I really appreciate in a movie is great costume design. Watch a movie that has been nominated for best costume design at the Oscars.
8. I love birthdays and get a little too excited when I find out I have a birthday twin. There are quite a few actors who share my birthday (including a couple Oscar winners). Find an actor that shares your birthday and watch one of their films.
9. Some of the best parts of movies are the side characters. Watch a movie featuring an iconic side character (or several).
10. Happy National Siblings Day! I have one older brother, so in honor of my personal sibling dynamic…Watch a movie with a brother and sister duo.
11. It seems as though every well known musician has had a movie made of their life. With the high volume of musician biopics, let's not forget other stories. Watch a non-musician biopic.
12. Traveling is one of my biggest ions and I love watching movies set in different places throughout the world. Watch a movie with a specific location in the title.
13. We are nearing the end of the 50th season of Saturday Night Live. Throughout its historic run, SNL has had many many talented host. Many of these hosts have returned time after time. Watch a movie starring one of the of the SNL Five Timers Club.
14. I spend entirely too much time on New York Times games...Watch a movie that has been used in a NYT Crossword puzzle.
15. Movies are great, but I have a soft spot for live theatre. Watch a movie that has either been adapted from a stage production or adapted into a stage production.
16. We all have holes in our movie watching. Watch a movie that you are embarrassed to it you haven’t seen yet.
17. There are lots of things that I enjoy in movies that I don’t particularly love in real life, for example the mafia. Watch a movie centered around organized crime.
18. A goal of mine is to eventually have watched a director's entire filmography. Watch a film you haven't yet seen from your most watched director.
19. Today marks the one year anniversary of the release of Taylor Swift’s 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department. In honor of her massive discography, watch a movie that has the same name as a Taylor Swift song.
20. Happy Easter! Watch a movie that is based on the Bible (either explicitly or through allegory/allusion).
21. Most people don’t have a least favorite number. But I do and it is 21. Shuffle your watchlist and watch the 21st movie that pops up.
22. We have arrived at Earth Day! Watch a movie with a blue or green poster.
23. Today is World Book Day! Watch a movie based on a book you read for school (or at least one you were supposed to read in school).
24. Despite how much I love watching movies, I don't watch much TV. But when I do, it is almost always a sitcom. To me there isn't a better show than Arrested Development (but we don't count the 4th and 5th seasons). Watch a movie featuring one of the cast from Arrested Development.
25. We have somehow made it to the halfway mark of the 2020s! Let's throw it back a bit and watch a movie set in the 1920s.
26. With the rising prices of streaming services, I am starting to gain an even greater appreciation for movies I don't have to pay extra for. Watch a movie for free (could be from a free streaming service, a movie you already own, one you find on YouTube, etc.).
27. We are one month into the Major League Baseball season. I am a diehard Cincinnati Reds fan and while it has been 35 years since their last World Series win, they have quite a promising team this year. Watch a movie that was released in one of the years the Reds won a World Series (1919, 1940, 1975, 1976, or 1990).
28. We are now in Q2 of 2025, so let's take the time to reflect on our Q1. Watch a movie that has been released so far in 2025 that you have yet to watch.
29. Let's also get prepped for the rest of the year. Watch a movie that has a sequel or remake coming out in 2025.
30. For our last prompt of the month, let's really try to stretch ourselves. Use a random word generator to find a word, type that word into the search bar on Letterboxd, and find a movie with that word in the title.

  2. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
  3. Anora
  4. Around the World in 80 Days
  5. Devotion
  6. The Burrowers

Scavenger Hunt 118 3o363j January 2025 https://letterboxd.sitesdebloques.org/itsthereverse/list/scavenger-hunt-118-january-2025/ letterboxd-list-55113630 Tue, 17 Dec 2024 18:03:11 +1300 <![CDATA[

It's already 2025???? No way ;A;

Hosts list here!

Progress: 5/31

Prompts:
1. In the spirit of January and the start of a new year, let’s work on some resolutions. How about we start by watching a movie you actually just really want to watch to get you going and start your stats off on the right track with a fun "first watch".
2. I know it’s January, but sometimes there just isn’t enough time to get in all of the holiday films you love. Go ahead and watch a holiday film you didn’t get a chance to see. (Could be any holiday, go wild, who am I to judge?)
3. I always say I’m going to finish my lists and only do it like 10% of the time. Watch a movie from your scavenger hunt graveyard, or if this is your first, check out the master list and pick a prompt.
4. Letteboxd is one of my favorite sites, and I am addicted to closing my rings. Watch a film from one of the rings you haven’t completed yet or use this as a spot to watch a movie from another challenge you might be doing this year. [check out your "stats" page].
5. I’m a kind of voracious reader. I always want to read more, so it's always my resolution to read an unattainable amount of books. Go ahead and watch a literary adaptation.
6. I struggle between wanting to always watch new movies and missing some of my favorites. Go ahead and watch a comfort movie, or one you think might become a comfort movie.
7. In the new year, I think it’s important we all work on educating ourselves. Go ahead and find a documentary that speaks to you.
8. Who doesn’t have a resolution about their job? I work for a Tribe, and so I spend a lot of time catching up learning about Indigenous content. Watch a movie by a filmmaker from a marginalized community or starring a predominantly POC cast.
9. Forget work. Let’s talk about the fun stuff we’re looking forward to this year. Watch a film from a country you want to visit (or visit again if you already have).
10. Sometimes, I put off movies because they seem hard, or they’re long, or I just don’t feel like thinking. Watch a movie you’ve honestly been putting off for whatever reason.
11. I’m a big fan of going to the movies. Go see a movie in theaters, or stream a release from 2025 (or the end of 2024).
12. I like working through filmographies of actors and directors, but sometimes I struggle to complete them. Watch a movie from your favorite director or actor that you haven’t seen yet. If you’ve seen all of them, pick your second favorite, you mad lil lad.
13. It’s 2025, we don’t have time anymore. And frankly, I am a huge proponent of a tight 90. Watch a film under 100 minutes. (This might me by favorite list on this app tbh).
14. Let’s get to know each other, make some friends, find some common ground. Click around, find someone you either already follow or a review from a recent movie you watched that you found funny or insightful, and watch one of their four favorites.
15. We’re all trying to learn every film ever made and keep up on all the new ones, right? Go ahead and watch an old movie. I’ll let you define what old is to you, but it has to be before you were born at least.
16. Letterboxd is a very fun place to make very fun lists. I’ve found a ton that I love to revisit for these hunts. Go find a fun list and watch a movie you haven’t seen yet from it (maybe leave a comment and thank them for their dope list).
17. January is a fun month. We got a lot of sports popping off– NFL, WNBA, NBA, NHL, and CFB to name a few American classics. Watch a sports movie.
18. Last time I hosted, I made you watch a film from my favorite city and hometown, Pittsburgh. I also made you watch one from where I currently live, Miami. I’ve also lived in New York, Toronto, Brazil, California, and Virginia. Watch a movie set in any of those places.
19. A major resolution I have had for the past few years is to learn Spanish. Watch a movie in a language different from your own.
20. It’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in the US today. In the spirit of his work, watch a movie about the Civil Rights Movement, protesting, or civil disobedience.
21. Yesterday was also Inauguration Day, meaning the US has a new president and we all have feelings about it I’m sure. Go ahead and watch a movie with a president in it could be a biopic or just a fictional president.
22. My girlfriend started using Letterboxd when we started dating. She’s the true cinephile in our relationship. She definitely didn’t tell me to write this. Go ahead and watch a movie from her all time faves or from movies we’ve watched together
23. Enough about my super amazing wonderful partner. Ask your partner or best friend or sibling or whoever means a lot to you what movie you should watch for this prompt.
24. A good resolution I’ve tried to stick to is eating out less and cooking more. I love cooking, so it all works out. Watch a film about cooking, food, or restaurants.
25. New year means decluttering. Go ahead and clean out some of your watchlist by watching one here.
26. Oscar nominees are going to be announced this month. Watch a movie you think will be nominated in any category (or if you want to wait and watch one after the announcement, do that).
27. Speaking of Oscar nominations, go ahead and watch a movie or performance you think got snubbed, historically.
28. Maybe in the new year, you’ll want to spend more time with family. Watch a movie about family. Or, frankly, if you’re like me and don’t like your family, watch a movie about getting away from your family.
29. We all have gaps in our viewing, and that’s why we do these hunts. Watch a film from a genre that isn’t one of your favorites.
30. Every year, Steven Soderberg published his list of content he consumed. It usually publishes the first week of January, but if you don’t want to wait for the 2024 list, watch a movie from his 2023/4 list.
31. It’s the end of the month– you did it! We’re 8% done with 2025. Enjoy a free spot to get a jump on February.

  1. Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Honeymoon, Honeymurder
  2. A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter
  3. The Purge: Anarchy
  4. Godzilla Minus One
  5. Lord of the Flies
  6. The Wild Robot
  7. Paul McCartney Really Is Dead: The Last Testament of George Harrison
  8. The China Syndrome
  9. 28 Weeks Later
  10. Lemonade

...plus 21 more. View the full list on Letterboxd.

Scavenger Hunt 117 6s6353 December 2024 https://letterboxd.sitesdebloques.org/itsthereverse/list/scavenger-hunt-117-december-2024/ letterboxd-list-54059606 Thu, 21 Nov 2024 14:46:49 +1300 <![CDATA[

I cannot believe we're already at the end of the year ;A;

Host's list here!

Progress: 4/31

Prompts:
1. This scavenger hunt is so good, your head is going to explode. Watch a movie where a guy's head explodes.
2. I love trash. I love watching bad movies. Bad movies were my gateway drug into watching other kinds of movies, like good movies, or movies that are just ok. I learned a lot about bad movies from watching RedLetterMedia's hit YouTube sensation Best of the Worst. I also learned a lot about videos that are not necessarily movies. Watch a movie or video featured on RedLetterMedia's Best of the Worst.
3. Cameron Mitchell is a recurring presence on Best of the Worst. Wikipedia claims that Cameron Mitchell did not drink, but many of his film appearances seem to contradict this. Around 1974 Cameron Mitchell declared bankruptcy for the second time and divorced his wife, and seemingly began taking any roles that were offered to him. Now I invite you to witness a portion of his slow decline by watching any film Cameron Mitchell made after 1973. In the spirit of things, I ask that you do not watch The Other Side of the Wind. In your review, let me know how drunk you think he was while on set.
4. Before I started watching movies all the time I would watch wrestling. I'd devote so many hours of the week to watching wrestling, and talking about wrestling. Then during Covid, wrestlers started wrestling in empty arenas, with no fans in the crowd. I was watching an episode of wrestling and a wrestler got up on the turnbuckle and raised his hands above his head and started clapping, trying to amp up the crowd, but there was no crowd. That's when the illusion broke for me. I had always heard people say wrestling was fake, but I never believed it could be true until that day. Watch a movie featuring a wrestler that isn't John Cena or The Rock, because I never liked those guys.
5. Terence Young is low key one of the worst directors ever. Every movie of his that I've seen has been boring and visually ugly. Everything is dull and muddy. Even the Bond films. Yeah, I said it. Watch a Terence Young film and take solace in the fact that I cannot host again for a full year.
6. The whole list isn't going to be garbage, I promise. Before I understood how the Letterboxd scavenger hunts worked, I would just watch movies from the Random Roulette list. I sort of miss those days. me in reminiscing by watching a movie on the Random Roulette list. Use random.org to generate a number between 1 and 9,858 and watch the corresponding movie on the list. If you get something you've already seen, reroll!
7. This one is about arthropods. I think we all know what arthropods are. Watch a film with a giant arthropod. This can be any giant insect, arachnid, crustacean, myriapod, horseshoe crab, trilobite, proturan, springtail, or any other true arthropod. Films with giant velvet worms are obviously disqualified.
8. Eric Roberts is always hanging around somewhere. He can star in any sort of movie, from Babylon to Bigfoot vs D.B. Cooper. And star he does; according to Letterboxd he has appeared in over 600 films. That's far more than his lazy sister, who has only appeared in 71. So, I am fairly confident that you can find a movie in your favorite genre that features hardworking actor Eric Roberts, and then watch it.
9. When I was a kid I loved dinosaurs. Now dinosaurs have feathers. It just isn't the same. Watch a dinosaur movie, and to make it interesting, it can't be a Jurassic Park/World movie.
10. What do you think of the IMDB hive mind's Top 250 movies? Why do they come to a different conclusion than us? I think this is interesting. Try to figure it out by watching a movie that is on the IMDB Top 250 but not on the Letterboxd Top 250.
11. I love blaxploitation movies. I love the energy and they just seem like they're fun to shoot. I wish I could go back in time and be a blaxploitation director. Watch a blaxploitation movie.
12. Have you ever been in a fight? Do you know kung fu? Well, I haven't, and I don't, so I have to live vicariously through the fast-paced, action-packed kung fu and wuxia films produced by the Shaw Brothers over in Hong Kong. Watch a Shaw Brothers kung fu or wuxia film.
13. I think we can all agree that tensions are pretty high right now. Things are tense. All over the world. There's lots of crazy wars going on, and stuff. Shit's crazy. You know, they say the best way to relieve tension is laughter. So let's lighten the mood, and learn something about a culture that may not necessarily be our own, by watching a Russian, Ukrainian, Israeli, or Palestinian comedy film.
14. What if you made a really good movie but nobody watched it? Your feelings would probably be hurt, right? It makes me sad to think of all the movies on the Top 50 Films Under 5,000 Ratings list that nobody has seen. The people who worked on those films must feel so bad. Help them out by watching one of the movies on that list. And, you know, if enough people participate, maybe we can get some of them to graduate to the regular list.
15. One time I drove past a combination Taco Bell and KFC and I thought to myself, "One day I will host the Letterboxd Scavenger Hunt, and one of the prompts will be 'Watch a movie that combines your favorite genre of film with your least favorite genre of film. For example, science-fiction/musical, romantic comedy/historical, noir/coming of age, horror/family, or action/adventure.'"
16. I am fascinated by Antonio Fargas. I think he's my favorite actor. He's very versatile, despite playing a pimp 50% of the time, and he has a very interesting face. I'd put him in all of my movies. Watch a movie featuring Antonio Fargas.
17. Seventeen is my lucky number, and this is scavenger hunt 117. They aren't the same number, but whatever. Watch a movie with "luck" or "lucky" in the title. Dean Sullivan has provided a helpful list here.
18. Being in a long distance relationship sucks. I don't get to see my amazing girlfriend Beppy nearly as often as I like. Whenever I do a scavenger hunt or something like the Criterion challenge, she goes over my lists and picks out the ones she wants to watch with me. But she picks all the good ones and so I have to watch all the bad ones when we're apart, and we never have enough time to watch all the good ones. Watch a movie from her 2024 list of movies I wasn't allowed to watch without her.
19. My mom is a big movie buff. She knows everything about old movies, and it makes her so sad when I tell her I just watched Piranha 2, or Timecop. She has excellent taste in movies, so watch one of my mom's favorites.
20. They say you can't judge a book by its cover, but what about a movie? Maybe you can. Let's find out. Watch a movie that has a poster you think looks "cool."
21. Do you guys the circus? I never liked the circus. The circus was always in town during my birthday, and my family would want to go, but I didn't want to go to the circus for my birthday. I was always on edge because I was always worried that the clowns would come pick me out of the crowd to get into the ring with them, so I could never relax. But my mom really liked the circus. This prompt was her idea. Watch a movie about the circus.
22. My mom came up with this one too. Let's watch a World War 2 movie, shown from the axis perspective.
23. I used to be a big anime head. My favorite anime is Azumanga Daioh. But that's a tv show, not a movie. Let's make things interesting and ban Studio Ghibli. Watch a non-Ghibli anime film.
24. Roger Corman died :[ Watch a movie produced or directed by Roger Corman.
25. It's Christmas. Did you know Die Hard is a Christmas movie? Yeah, I did. Everyone knows. But did you know Aguirre, the Wrath of God is also a Christmas movie? Celebrate this Noel by watching a really unconventional Christmas movie.
26. One time I was watching this movie called "Hud" and I was like, wow, this cinematographer is a genius. That cinematographer was James Wong Howe. The guy is like the Caravaggio of cinema. Watch a movie with cinematography by James Wong Howe.
27. Uh, watch a movie that's just two people's names. The list will explain it.
28. I stole this one from someone else and just changed it a little. For this one, watch the 4th movie in a series. The person I stole it from used the 3rd movie, so this is like a tribute and continuation of that.
29. I like the ocean. I love boats and I love to swim and I love fishing. I don't really like pirates though. Watch a maritime movie that isn't about pirates. Here is a list, but it has a lot of pirate movies. I'm sorry, I tried!
30. As we prepare to flip over to a new year, let's look at actors who flipped from their usual styles, into the reverse style. Watch a movie featuring either an actor typically known for comedy performing in a serious role, or an actor known for being serious doing some comedy.
31. Let's see what the future has in store for us, or what the future got wrong, by watching messages from the past. Watch a film from the past that depicts the far off future years of 2024 or 2025.

  1. Punisher: War Zone
  2. Birdemic 3: Sea Eagle
  3. The Toolbox Murders
  4. See No Evil 2
  5. Thunderball
  6. 2067
  7. Starship Troopers
  8. 2 Bedroom 1 Bath
  9. Cowgirls vs. Pterodactyls
  10. Stand by Me

Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hosts list here!

Progress: 2/30

Prompts:
1. November 1st is All Saints' Day. Watch a film with "saint" or some variation thereof in the title (e.g. films like The Boondock Saints or St. Vincent are eligible).
2. Before we get too far away from October, I want to fit in one more horror film - since this is the 2nd prompt of the month, let's make it a sequel. Watch a sequel to a horror film.
3. Now that the transition into November is out of the way, time to get to the real reason to host a scavenger hunt - getting other people to watch the films that I like. Watch a film from my top 100 (or, if you'd like a wider range of options, try my personal canon).
4. Mortal Kombat is one of my favourite videogame franchises. In addition to the cartoonishly bloody fun it provides, its recent entries have also featured a considerable number of characters from other works of media. Watch a film from the Mortal Kombat franchise or a film featuring a character who has made a guest appearance in the franchise (note: this does not include all the characters from the DC crossover, just the Joker).
5. We Hate Movies is my favourite film podcast thanks to how much comedy gold they mine out of the dregs of cinema. Watch a film that has been covered on the podcast. (Don't worry, they do "We Love Movies" episodes about good films as well).
6. Another podcast I've been listening to a lot recently is Blank Check With Griffin & David because their focus on directors' filmographies and how things change with each new film is a fascinating idea for a podcast. Watch a film that has been covered on the podcast.
7. There's a lot to be said for appreciating the artistic potential that can be found in the unlikeliest of places - say, by recontextualising the pointedly artificial aesthetic choices of certain "lesser" genre films as being tantamount to their own distinctive cinematic movement. Watch a film from comrade_yui's "neo-expressionism" list.
8. Two of my favourite streaming services are MUBI and Tubi, having only one letter to differentiate their names while the titles in their libraries are almost complete opposites to one another. Watch a film that is available on either service.
9. Audio commentaries are a great special feature that I always feel I should listen to more, gaining insight from a film's creators or appreciators into everything from the facets of the creative process to the signifiers of deeper meaning to the trivialities of behind-the-scenes anecdotes. Watch a film while listening to its audio commentary.
10. A good thing about these scavenger hunts is getting to find out how much you have in common with other s. For this prompt, go to my watchlist, filter it as "show films on watchlist", and watch a film that is on both your watchlist and my watchlist.
11. I collect a lot of physical media, especially now that video stores are gone and second-hand DVDs are plentiful. Watch a film on my Owned/Unwatched list or a film you own on physical media but have not watched.
12. I've always been fascinated by the idea of cult films and how they defied conventional definitions of success by building their own devoted followings. We all know the long-established cult classics like The Rocky Horror Picture Show or This Is Spinal Tap, but I want to highlight an old A.V. Club column called "The New Cult Canon" that aimed to shine a spotlight on the predominantly newer films that were building (or deserved to build) similar levels of devotion. Watch a film from the New Cult Canon.
13. Another resource that was a major early influence on me becoming a cinephile was 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die and its efforts to condense a century-plus of cinema history into a relatively manageable goal (even if they kept adding and removing films with each new edition). Watch a film that has been included in 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die.
14. Gladiator II comes out this month, which makes for a good opportunity to look back on the extensive and eclectic filmography of one Sir Ridley Scott. Watch a film he directed.
15. One of my favourite premises for a film is that of "the most dangerous game", which at its most basic is about one person hunting another one for sport but can be expanded into anything from dystopian game shows to twisted social experiments. Watch a "most dangerous game" film (here is a fairly comprehensive list of examples).
16. Seeing as this is Scavenger Hunt #116, watch a film that is 116 minutes long. Just be glad I'm not hosting Scavenger Hunt #300, I guess.
17. Roger Ebert once claimed that any film featuring M. Emmet Walsh or Harry Dean Stanton couldn't be altogether bad. Watch a film featuring either of those actors.
18. A few years ago, I started the "Chain Reaction Challenge", which involved connecting 100 different films by making each new pick relate to the last one in some way (same actor, same director, etc.) I figure the connections I made would serve as good scavenger hunt prompts and I've already decided to use a few for this hunt, but I figure I'll let you decide which of the others you'd like to use so go to the list I made and watch a film that fits one of my Chain Reaction Challenge prompts (be sure to specify which one you picked).
19. Another challenge that I'm fond of doing is the annual Criterion Challenge, which - as you can probably guess - involves watching films that are in the Criterion Collection. Watch a film from the Criterion Collection.
20. As long as we're talking about film distribution labels, I think I should acknowledge the Australian ones that do their best to bring a variety of titles to a country that does tend to get a little underserved in of physical media. Watch a film that has been released through Umbrella Entertainment or Man Entertainment.
21.Johnnie To's The Heroic Trio features three truly iconic leading ladies in Anita Mui, Michelle Yeoh, and Maggie Cheung. Watch a film featuring at least one of these ladies.
22. I once saw someone claim that, if you want to see which film is the "real" winner of Best Picture at the Oscars then you look at what won the Oscar for Best Film Editing. The accuracy of that claim is naturally debatable, but why not use it as an excuse to pay extra attention to one of my favourite aspects of the filmmaking process? Watch a film that was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Film Editing.
23. As long as we're on the topic of the Oscars, it does seem like the above-the-line award that gets the least amount of attention is the Academy Award for Best ing Actress. Watch a film that was nominated for the Academy Award for Best ing Actress.
24. A sub-genre I'm fond of is when a film takes place in 24 hours or less (especially over the course of one night). Watch a film that takes place in 24 hours or less.
25. Science fiction is one of my favourite genres so I'd like to see more of what Letterboxd considers the best of the best. Watch a film from Letterboxd's Top 250 Science Fiction Films.
26. I know it's not the most original of prompts, but seeing as we're getting close to the end of the year, this is usually the point at which I try to catch up on new releases. Watch a film released in 2024.
27. If you're a fan of "Weird Al" Yankovic, you will already know that 27 is the number that shows up a lot in his work. Watch a film that features an artist parodied by Al (this applies whether they have a song on the soundtrack or appear in the film themselves).
28. I like anthology films and how they can challenge a director (or directors) to work within constricted narrative frameworks. Watch an anthology film.
29. We're getting close to the end here, so let's focus on completion. Watch a film in a franchise/collection that you haven't finished yet (bonus points if it's the last one you need to see in order to complete the collection).
30. So we've reached the end of the month and, you know what, let's give ourselves a break by watching something quick. Watch the highest-rated short film on your watchlist.

Scavenger Hunt 115 20384t October 2024 https://letterboxd.sitesdebloques.org/itsthereverse/list/scavenger-hunt-115-october-2024/ letterboxd-list-51554811 Thu, 19 Sep 2024 17:31:29 +1200 <![CDATA[

Oh my god October is gonna be BUSY. Trying to make as many as possible horror let's goooooo

Hosts list here

Progress: 4/31

Prompts:
Prompt #1: If you look at my profile picture, that’s my dog Oliver. He means the world to me, and I love him dearly. Watch a movie from the Letterbarkd list.
Prompt #2: I have hosted a Zoom movie club since March 2020. We have met weekly on Saturdays for almost the entire duration, and we even expanded to host biweekly meetings on Tuesday nights. Ever since the pandemic, they have been the main constant in my life, and they are some of the greatest people I have ever known. We have watched and discussed nearly 300(!) movies over the 5 years and our hip continues to grow. It’s amazing honestly! Watch a movie selected and discussed by of the Online Cinema Club.
Prompt #3: There is a running joke in the Online Cinema Club about Paul Newman being my all-time favorite actor. They love to tease me about Newman but it’s okay, I can handle it! He is simply one of the greatest actors and human beings to ever grace our planet. Watch a movie starring Paul Newman.
Prompt #4: I share one of Paul Newman's most distinctive features: we both have blue eyes! Watch a movie with blue on the poster or in the title. Example lists include Blue Posters, More Blue Posters and Blue Movie Titles.
Prompt #5: We are in the middle of celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, which takes place from September 15 to October 15 each year, to honor the achievements and legacies from the Hispanic community. Watch a movie about Hispanic Americans or a movie made by a Hispanic filmmaker.
Prompt #6: Although I obtained my Master's Degree in Film & Media Studies, my career pathway led me to become an academic subject librarian (who specializes in history and the social sciences). The Library of Congress is largely considered the gold standard of librarianship here in the United States and they always have interesting programs and collections going on. One particular thing I follow is their National Film Registry, first established in 1989 (ironically the year I born). They choose 25 films each year deemed "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant" to American society and culture. The only stipulation is that the film must be at least 10 years old. Watch a movie selected for preservation by the Library of Congress' National Film Registry.
Prompt #7: Turner Classic Movies (TCM) was, in many ways, my gateway to appreciating movies over two decades ago. I have fond memories watching TCM and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I loved their program The Essentials, which ran from 2001-2020, and it helped me discover so many gems. Watch a movie featured on TCM's program The Essentials.
Prompt #8: Early on in my film fandom, I used IMDb as a resource to expand my knowledge and appreciation of the movies. I used to closely follow their constantly-evolving Top 250 list and tried to see as many movies on there as possible (with no luck). Watch a movie that's been on IMDb’s Top 250 list over the years.
Prompt #9: Even to this day, I still regularly read The New York Times's film section. It's some of the best film criticism out there and I find their writers and contributor's takes to be so interesting. They also have a lot of great lists and this one of them: Watch a movie featuring an actor ranked on the New York Times’ 25 Greatest Actors of the 21st Century list.
Prompt #10: Sometimes these hunts can be overwhelming to create but I thought this would help simplify things a bit: Spin the 'Essential Film Directors' wheel and watch a movie from a director that you haven't seen.
Prompt #11: October 11th is National Coming Out Day and this helps bring awareness to anyone who wants to be out and proud as of the LGBTQ community. Watch a LGBTQ movie from your watchlist.
Prompt #12: Romantic comedies are arguably my biggest guilty pleasure and I unabashedly love them. Yes, I'm a romantic at heart! Watch a romantic comedy from any era.
Prompt #13: I completed my Master's thesis about 9 years ago and my work focused on the construction of masculinity identity through Hollywood comedies from the 1990s and 2000s. Although I chose a different career path, I am proud that I wrote a 120+ page thesis! Watch a comedy that was released in the 1990s or 2000s.
Prompt #14: October 14th is Indigenous Peoples' Day, also known as Columbus Day here in the United States. I used to work at a predominantly indigenous institution and I am happy to see more popular culture representations of indigenous communities in recent years. To celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day, watch a movie from either the the Real on the Reel: Important Native American Movies list or the 100 Native Directors, 100 Native Films list.
Prompt #15: Columbia Pictures is one of the most iconic movie studios and they are currently celebrating their 100th anniversary this year. Watch a movie released by Columbia Pictures to celebrate their 100th anniversary..
Prompt #16: My friend Peter is the person who introduced me to these scavenger hunts and he still participates in them to this day. Let's thank Peter by watching something from his Not Sure If Watched List that you haven't already seen.
Prompt #17: My friend Kailyn has a massive watchlist of movies she still wants to see.Shuffle Kailyn's List of Born of Lists and watch something on the first page of results that you have not seen.
Prompt #18: Let's have some fun and make this prompt about you! Go to your Watchlist, hover over the Genre drop box and watch a movie from your favorite genre.
Prompt #19: October 19 is the night of the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony and I will be going to that! It's one of my favorite things that I like to go to each and every year. I have written articles and published podcast episodes about the Rock Hall and this is something that I truly love...no matter how much debate it stirs up! Watch a movie starring or movie (biopic or documentary) about a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee.
Prompt #20: In my spare time, I like to cook and I am always fascinated by media content (television, film, literature, etc.) focusing on the culinary world. Watch a movie about Food, Chefs, or Restaurants.
Prompt #21: Ever since I was a little boy, I have always been a fan of professional wrestling. It is something that I still watch to this day and it's something that consumes far too much of my life. Watch a movie starring a current or former Professional Wrestler. If you are having trouble finding something for this prompt, consider looking at the filmographies of Dave Bautista, Dwayne Johnson, or John Cena.
Prompt #22: ing the disabled community is a cause that is near and dear to my heart. Watch a movie that focuses on disability representation.
Prompt #23: I often use these scavenger hunts as excuses to watch short films and honestly...it's some of the best things I watch in any given month. Watch a short film with a maximum runtime of 30 minutes.
Prompt #24: A24 is currently celebrating their 10th anniversary and they have released many of the best movies from the 2010s and 2020s. Watch an A24 movie.
Prompt #25: This prompt is simple and straightforward: Watch a movie released in 2024.
Prompt #26: I have an AMC A-List hip and I go to the movies all the time. There's nothing like seeing a movie on the big screen! Watch a movie currently playing in theaters or watch a movie I saw in theaters in 2023 or 2024.
Prompt #27: Instead of going to the movies, some people prefer to stay home which is totally fine. There's a lot of content out there on those streaming services but there's sometimes diamonds in the rough when it comes to original programming. Watch a movie that was released exclusively on a streaming channel such as Netflix, Hulu, Prime and Peacock.
Prompt #28: We are in the midst of the fall season and this is my favorite time of the year. Watch a movie you believe embodies the Fall or Autumn season.
Prompt #29: Of all the horror subgenres, psychological horror is my absolute favorite. Watch a Psychological Horror movie.
Prompt #30: If you think about it, there's a lot of similarities between horror and comedy. And there's nothing I love more than a good horror-comedy...it's the best of both worlds! Watch a Horror Comedy.
Prompt #31: Sometimes there are blind spots when it comes to certain genres and horror is certainly one of them for me. Watch something from Horror Movies Everyone Should Watch at Least Once list that you haven't already seen.

  1. Tenebre
  2. The Dead Zone
  3. Mater and the Ghostlight

Let’s gooooo!

Hosts list here!

Progress: 7/31

Prompts:
1. I loveeeee Stranger Things. One of my favourite shows of all time and I am absolutely hyped for the final season, whenvever that comes out haha. So for the first prompt of this month's hunt, sit back and watch a film starring a Stranger Things cast member.
2. Last month's hunt was hosted by Zoey and that month's hunt gave me a lot of good films to watch. For this prompt, watch a film that Zoey has rated 5 stars.
3. Oh shit, it's my birthday today. Oh my lord!! Wow. Ummm. Yeah. Woah, forgot about that tbh. Turning 22 today. God, I'm old. I'm almost at retirement age lmao. Hopefully the wording of this prompt isn't messy but since I turn 22 this year I want to check out a film that was released 22 years before I was born and so I've chosen 1980's Used Cars. So if you're turning 33 years old, watch a film that came out 33 years before you were born. If you're turning 55 years old then watch a film that came out 55 years before you were born. I think that sounds right. God, no offence to them but I hope there's nobody doing this hunt that's turning 90 because you're a bit fucked for this prompt lmao. Sorry about that tho mate, better luck next time.
4. Brooooo, the Muppets. The fucking Muppets. I mean, come the fuck on!! My guys, honestly. Sooo, let's not watch a Muppet movie but instead a non-Muppet movie that stars a Muppet performer in its cast, either voicing a character or playing a live-action character. Yippeeeee.
5. Watch a film that came out 100 years ago in 1924.
6. Musicals!!!!! I love musicals. They are soooo fun. Watch a musical!! 🥳🥳
7. Everyone loves live-action Disney movies. They’ve got some classics like Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Freaky Friday, Holes, The Parent Trap and many others, but they also have their good fair share of forgotten live-action flicks, most of them made during the 60s, 70s and 80s, which for whatever reason I am absolutely intrigued by. So for this prompt, watch one of Disney’s forgotten live-action movies.
8. I just wanna watch something stupid, watch something from my Cinematic Shitposts and “Fuck You” Movies list.
9. I also wanna watch some goofy shit too, watch a film from my Live-Action Cartoon Movies list.
10. Brittany Murphy. Love Brittany Murphy. Watched Uptown Girls last year and loved it and I wanna see more of Brittany Murphy’s filmography. Huge fan. Watch a film starring Brittany Murphy.
11. Now that I’ve suggested a Brittany Murphy movie then why not let Brittany Murphy recommend a movie to you. Watch one of Brittany Murphy’s Blockbuster movie recommendations.
12. Friendly reminder, musicals fucking slap 😎😎. I love ‘em. So for this one, watch a non-musical film that you think would make a great musical adaptation. Go all out for this one, if you think it has musical potential then go for it!!
13. Watched Tommy all the way back for the first time in 2022 and it’s become one of my favourite movies and I absolutely adore the production design in it and ever since I’ve been doing my best to go through director Ken Russell’s filmography. For this prompt, watch a film directed by Ken Russell.
14. Another musical based prompt lmao. Sorry not sorry. Watch a film from the Tone Deaf: The Musical list because I absolutely love those odd little 70s/80s musicals.
15. As you can probably tell, I love a good looking film. Practical sets and great usage of colours? That's some good stuff right there! So for this prompt watch a film from the Visually Insane list.
16. I just feel like watching a trilogy of films that I've not yet seen. Watch a trilogy of films that you've not yet seen. Or, if you're a bit too busy this month, try and at least start a new trilogy to watch 👍👍.
17. I watched the Canon documentary, Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films, last year and absolutely loved it. The films from Cannon look absolutely nuts and ever since I've been wanting to see more from this amazing studio. Watch a Cannon movie.
18. Mads Mikkelsen. Need I say more. Honestly, what a guy!! Watch a Mads Mikkelsen movie.
19. Watch a film from your watchlist that has been on there for ages, preferably one of the first 100 movies on your watchlist.
20. Been listening to a lot more albums as of late. I've recently finished listening to the entire Beatles discography. They got some good tunes imo. Some bangers if I do say so myself. Well done Beatle. Watch a film that has Beatles music on its soundtrack or uses the music of The Beatles as an important part of the movie.
21. Punch-Drunk Love and Boogie Nights are two of my favourite films of all time. PDL is currently in my top four, I absolutely adore that film. Both of these films are great and were directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, who's made some other movies I like. Watch a film from PTA that you've not yet seen. However, if you have seen all of his directorial work then watch a film starring a main cast member from PTA's Punch-Drunk Love.
22. Watch a film that came out last year in 2023 that you haven't managed to see yet.
23. I looooveeee a good opening credits sequence. Whenever I see a new film and they hit you a cool af opening credits sequence, that right there is the shit. I love it. Watch a film you've not yet seen but have heard that its opening credits are really good.
24. The "It's A Mad, Mad. Mad. Mad World" poster is one of my favourite movie posters of all time, and I absolutely love that style of poster artwork. More films need to use that poster style. For this prompt, watch a film with a poster designed by Jack Davis.
25. Some of my favourite movies ever since I was a kid have been spy movies. Spy movies are soooo coool. Watch a spy movie.
26. Sci-Fi is a pretty cool genre, especially the stuff from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. All that weird production value, all that campiness and what not. I love it. Watch a weird sci-fi that was made around that time.
27. Been listening to a lot of the No Such Thing as A Bad Movie podcast recently. Very funny stuff, very haha and quite lmao at times as well. Always brings a smile to my face. Highly reccomend giving it a listen. Anyways, since I'm such a fan, for this prompt watch a film covered on the No Such Thing as A Bad Movie podcast.
28. I have sooo much nostalgia for VHS. I'm pretty sure I'm apart of the last generation who grew up with watching movies on VHS. Good times mate, good times. Watch a film from my Those films you always saw at the VHS or DVD store as a kid but never actually watched but you them because of the VHS or DVD covers list.
29. Where would my love for film and film discussion be were it not for the world famous darling of film criticism himself, the Nostalgia Critic. Everybody loves The Critic! How could you not? Sit back and relax and watch a film that has been reviewed by the Nostalgia Critic.
30. I enjoy rewatching movies, mainly movies I like of course, but from time to time I do like to give films that I wasn't huge on second chances. For this prompt, watch a film that you didn't like on your original viewing and see if your opinion of it changes.
31. PHYSICAL MEDIA!!! I loveeee physical media. I have a load of DVDs that I haven't even seen yet but I'm working through it. Watch a film from my Films I Have on DVD That I Haven’t Seen Yet list and for bonus points, see if you yourself can watch one of those films on DVD or any form of physical media as well!!

  1. Damsel
  2. Citizen Kane
  3. Serial Killer

I love making lists don't look at me

Hosts List: here!

Progress: 6/30

Rewatches: The Last Voyage of the Demeter

Prompts:
1. It’s April Fools and I’m so grateful to host this months’ hunt. You know that feeling when you start a movie, predicting that you’re gonna love it and it turns 180 on you, yeah, APRIL FOOLS. Rewatch a movie you expected to love, but didn’t.
2. I’m Danish and my country and my language means a lot to me, so I’m being very basic, honoring my country: Watch a Danish movie, not just filmed here, but spoken!
3. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I tend to procrastinate on longer movies, because I know I have to concentrate for longer (and I’m not particular good at that haha), so let’s all do it and watch one of the 4 longest movies on your watchlist.
4. About a month ago today Robert Downey Jr. won his first Oscar, and today is his birthday. I think RDJ has come a long way and that we should honor his long-awaited win, as well as his 59th birthday. Watch an RDJ movie!
5. I’m addicted to music, I listen to music probably 3 hours a day, I couldn’t live without it. I like movies with good soundtracks, it’s a big factor for me. So watch a movie that shares its name with a song:
If possible, perhaps you can find one that shares the name with a favorite song of yours?
6. I’m a highschool student, graduating in 2025, and I’m a language student, studying both French and Spanish and Latin. This year I’m gonna use my Spanish when I visit Guatemala. Watch a movie with a language spoken in one of the countries you’ve been to (the more exotic the better).
7. When I was a child I wanted to be a famous artist, in my head it was quite easy. Now I have aspirations of becoming a theatre actress or an actress in general, but let’s entertain 6 year old me and watch a movie either about an artist or about a painting.
8. My watchlist is long, definitely not as long as a lot of people’s I follow on here. But still whenever I add something new it tends to get lost in the ocean of movies on here. Take this as a sign to watch one of your 4 most recently added movies
9. I kind of started my scavenger hunt journey with my best friend Marie and we’re still going. Every month we sit and wait for the list and then we hurry to text each other when it drops. So obviously I have to dedicate a prompt to her. My best friend forever and ever. Watch one of Maries favorite movies: boxd.it/mlw7Y
10. We need something that is a little fun and up for interpretation too, so I like this prompt: Watch a movie you think would kill a Victorian child. Many things would probably do that, so go for horror, slapstick comedy or whatever YOU want to!
11. My absolute biggest comfort show is The Office. I have watched the entire thing quite a few times (though I tend to slow down around s7, iykyk :( Watch a movie featuring an actor or actress who was on the office as a regular (I have a list on my profile :) - These are just suggestion movies, you can choose anything featuring one of the people from the list (https://boxd.it/oOHu6)
12. I don’t know if it’s just me but I genuinely didn’t realize how many actors/actresses have received honors from the royal family. So many famous people, therefore: Watch a movie directed by or featuring someone who has received honors from the royal family - here’s a link to help you: Knighted celebrities
13. I’m not a big believer in birthstones, but I’d thought it’d be a fun and personal prompt. Find your birthstone (the one based on your birth-month) and watch a movie with the same color as yours! Here’s a link to get you started: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birthstone
14. I’m surprised at the amount of newer movies that still do not the Bechdel test, go ahead and find a movie that es the Bechdel from the year you were born. Check out this link for the movies available: bechdeltest.com/search/
15. Today is Emma Watsons birthday, but April is also the birth month of a couple other of my favorite actors like Paul Rudd and Jennifer Garner. Watch a movie starring either Emma Watson, Paul Rudd or Jennifer Garner
16. I recently made, what I would say is a pretty cool list over all the movies people have mentioned on Letterboxd’s insta on their “Four Favorites” segment. I’m really proud of the list, and I feel it deserves a spot on a Scavenger Hunt. Watch any movie on the Four Favorites list: boxd.it/suP5k (Bonus points if you shuffle:)
17. I watch a lot of different genres, as do you all I’m sure. Look at your recent five star movie, and watch a movie that shares its genre with that one.
18. Some of the people I adore the most are three youtubers that all make videos about really stupid movies. Their names are Danny Gonzalez, Kurtis Conner and Drew Gooden, and if you don’t know them, you should definitely check them out. Watch a movie that’s been on either of their channels: boxd.it/gfn9K/detail
19. I like going to concerts. Last May I saw Harry Styles in concert and about a month ago I saw Niall Horan in concert as well. I really like camping with people I care about and meeting other fans of the same artist. Either watch a concert movie or a movie with a concert scene. www.imdb.com/search/keyword/?keywords=music-concert
20. It’s 4/20, obviously we have to watch something alluding to that. You can either watch a classic stoner movie, or go lighter and pick something with a green poster. Have fun and stay safe out there!
21. I love Broadway and musicals, but I’ve only gone once, since I, as said, live in Denmark. In 2022 I saw Hamilton on Broadway and it was great, and afterwards I found out just how many actors either gotten their start on Broadway or have been on Broadway, so for prompt 21, choose one of these 21 actors and watch a movie starring them: www.yardbarker.com/entertainment/articles/hollywood_actors_who_have_starred_on_broadway/s1__38767457#slide_5
22. Today’s earth day, so why not honor that with a prompt as well. Watch a movie containing the word Earth in the title. You can go anywhere with this prompt, simply the word “Earth”
23. I’m a drama student and today is the anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. Watch a movie with any connections to William Shakespeare. That could be an adaptation or a movie where he is frequently mentioned like in “10 Things I Hate About You” (1999)
24. I like reading, one of my favorite books is being turned into a series this year and I’m pretty excited for it. Watch any movie where you’ve read its book. If you can’t think of any, you can check my short list on my profile: boxd.it/orFmo
25. In a month today one of my best friends has her birthday. She’s incredible and I’ve known her for 7 years and she deserves a prompt. I love you Thora<3 - Watch one of Thoras favorite movies: boxd.it/j6xNY
26. I love my mom and I use the prompts to our advantage a lot of the time. Picking movies I know my mom and I could watch together. Ask your mom for one of her favorite films, even more fun if you haven’t seen it. If that’s not possible you can check out my mom’s list: boxd.it/l4ifG
27. I’m a firm believer in the fact that bad movies can be good, if you know what I mean. Check out some of the people you follow and watch any movie that they’ve rated one stars or lower. Maybe you’ll love it or maybe they’re right.
28. The 28th of October is my birthday, so for prompt 28 I’m gonna be selfish and encourage you to watch a favorite of mine. My list is pretty versatile, so I hope you’re able to find something. boxd.it/jaApS
29. Winona Ryder is my favorite actress of all time. Her birthday is actually the day right after mine. So for prompt 29, watch any Winona Ryder movie. I highly recommend Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice or Heathers if you haven’t seen those.
30. Why not leave the last prompt up to fate. Go to your watchlist and shuffle. Watch the 30th movie to pop up. I hope you all get something good.

  1. The Last Voyage of the Demeter
  2. Another Round
  3. From What Is Before
  4. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
  5. Baby Driver
  6. Long Way North
  7. Velvet Buzzsaw
  8. Freeway
  9. Before Sunrise

Scavenger Hunt 108!!! March 2024 41g10 https://letterboxd.sitesdebloques.org/itsthereverse/list/scavenger-hunt-108-march-2024/ letterboxd-list-43093272 Mon, 19 Feb 2024 06:24:36 +1300 <![CDATA[

LET'S GO!!!!!

Hosts list here!

Progress: 8/31

Prompts:
1. My grandpa, who happened to be one of my favorite people in the world, was a huge fan of movies. But particularly westerns and more specifically anything starring his favorite cowboy, John Wayne. So, in honor of my grandpa, watch a film starring John Wayne.
2. I am really into birthdays! I love them, and try to go above and beyond for any and everyone’s birthdays. And in 2024, I will turn 40! Watch a film that is about turning 40 or that came out 40 years ago.
3. I am still technically a newlywed (I got married on 12/10/2022) and I am loving being a spouse. Our wedding was moon and stars themed. Watch a film that has moon or star(s) in the title.
4. I currently live in Indiana which is right on the tail end of tornado alley and let me tell you, it is terrifying during tornado season. Watch a film featuring a twister.
5. My family and I are amateur ghost hunters. We love a good haunt. We have all the equipment and find local places that are considered haunted to explore. Watch a movie featuring a ghost.
6. I only learned about Letterboxd from my coworker and friend Ethan Chitty. In honor of him introducing me to this community, go check out his favorites and watch a movie from his list.
7. Today is my husband’s birthday! One of our favorite things to do is curl up on the couch and watch a movie after a long day. His taste in movies is very different than mine but because of that he has introduced me to some gems I would have never seen otherwise. To celebrate his birthday watch a movie from his favorites list.
8. I am currently in grad school working towards my Masters in Social Work. My ultimate goal is to be a bereavement counselor and death doula. Watch a film that is about death, loss, grief or the grieving process.
9. Like a lot of people I love true crime, but particularly true crime documentaries. Those are my favorite day-off-from-work, want-to-lounge-around type of movies to put on. Watch a true-crime documentary.
10. It’s Oscar night! I love the Oscars. I love watching the stars dress up and get awarded for their performances. I love the speeches and all the emotional moments. It is just great. Watch a 2024 Oscar nominated film.
11. My husband and I went to New Orleans for our honeymoon and the very first thing we did upon arrival was get a beignet from Cafe Du Monde. Watch a film that is filmed/set in New Orleans and bonus points if Cafe Du Monde makes an appearance in the film!
12. Everyone has a hall . (What’s a hall ? It’s the one celebrity that your partner gives you full permission to hook up with should the opportunity present itself.) My hall …don’t laugh…is Seth Rogen. Something about that dad bod and cringy laugh, just really gives me all the feels. Watch a movie featuring your hall . (If you don’t have a hall , watch a movie featuring your current celebrity crush.)
13. I met Mark Ruffalo, purely by happenstance on a beach in Maine. He was the nicest guy ever. Super kind and generous. He even introduced me to his mom. Watch a film featuring a celebrity you have had the opportunity to meet. (Alternatively, if you have never met a celebrity/someone in the movies watch a Mark Ruffalo movie.)
14. My husband is a cat person, and I am hands down, 100%, without a doubt a dog person. What kind of pet person are you? Watch a film featuring that pet.
15. I am absolutely terrified of birds. It is their beaks, their talons, and their unpredictability for me. Watch a movie featuring something that absolutely terrifies you.
16. I have several favorite genres of movies, but one that surprises most people when I tell them is I love biopics. The longer, the better, honestly. So, do yourself a favor and carve out a chunk of time to watch a biopic today.
17. My sister is one of my best friends, but we are complete opposites when it comes to entertainment. We very rarely can find a movie to agree on when we are together, because of our vastly different tastes. We normally settle on a late 90s/early 00s rom-com. She absolutely loves a rom-com, they are her favorites. Watch a late 90s/early 00s rom-com.
18. My husband’s biggest celebrity crush is Audrey Hepburn. He grew up in a conservative household and wasn’t allowed to watch a lot of “modern” movies, so he watched all the classics and absolutely adores Audrey. I have been slowly making my way through her filmography with him and have found that quite a few have held up to the test of time. Watch a film starring Audrey Hepburn.
19. When I was 22, I dropped out of college and moved to Baltimore, MD (10 hrs away from my small hometown in Indiana) with my two best friends. It was quite the adventure and I learned a lot about myself those two years I spent living there. I also fell deeply in love with the east coast, and Baltimore will always have a special place in my heart. Watch a film that is set/filmed in Baltimore.
20. When is the last time you had a good cry? I work in community mental health and if there is one thing I know, it is how therapeutic a good cry can be for a person. Watch a film guaranteed to make you cry. (Happy or sad tears are acceptable.)
21. One of my favorite questions to ask at a party is what’s your favorite conspiracy theory? I love hearing people’s complete and utter believe in the wildest things. Watch a film about a conspiracy theory you don’t know much about and see if the film can send you down a rabbit hole.
22. I have two nephews and a stepson all between the ages of 4 and 8. And because of them I have now seen the Mario movie close to a million times and I can sing the entire Peaches song by Jack Black. Watch a movie a kid in your life is currently obsessed with. (I don't have many children in my life rn so replacing with 1) My favorite color is blue. Pick a film with a mostly blue cover.)
23. If I had to make a list of my favorite things, top on the list would be roadtrips. I love a roadtrip. Nothing makes me happier than being in the car, with the windows down, blaring an amazing song and heading to somewhere I have never been before. Watch a film featuring a roadtrip.
24. I have set a personal goal to watch every A24 film that has been made. I truly find them so enjoyable. So, watch an A24 film.
25. Another favorite thing of mine would be snow. I love a freshly fallen snow and how beautiful it looks outside the window when you have no where to be. It’s an absolute dream state for me. Watch a movie that has snow; the more snow the better.
26. I am making my way through every movie featured on Elvira’s Movie Macabre. They are pretty cheesy horror movies but nevertheless, it’s a goal. Watch a movie featured on Elvira’s Movie Macabre.
27. One of my favorite features on Letterboxd is the shuffle feature. I am terrible at picking movies and having that handy feature has saved me many hours of debate. Go to your scavenger hunt graveyard, sort by shuffle and watched number 10 that comes up.
28. I just wrapped up a 6 weeks class in stand-up comedy and did a set in front of a live audience. It was exciting and scary and fun and every other emotions that comes with doing something outside of your comfort zone. To celebrate stand-up and all that it is, watch a movie featuring a stand-up comedian. Or a stand-up special!
29. My comfort TV is trashy reality shows. I like that I can zone out and it doesn’t take a lot of brain power to concentrate on. Watch a movie featuring a former reality star.
30. I have had the two same best friends since I was 11. And some of our favorite things to do when we are together is to watch so-bad-it’s-good horror movies. Watch a so-bad-it’s-good movie.
31. I have a theory that Drew Barrymore’s hugs could cure cancer. She is such a bright light and she just exudes joy, in my opinion. Plus I have a girl crush on her. Watch a Drew Barrymore film.

  1. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
  2. Trancers
  3. A Star Is Born
  4. Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!
  5. Throne of Blood
  6. Schindler's List
  7. The Usual Suspects
  8. After Yang
  9. Our Father
  10. Society of the Snow

I still have yet to finish an entire hunt ;A;

Hosts list here!!!!

Progress: 7/31

Prompts:
1. I’ve been rewatching The Walking Dead lately. I’m on Season 3 Episode 14 while creating this list. I’m happy I’m doing this cause I’ve fallen in love and have noticed a lot of these actors were a lot better then I , like Norman Reedus as Daryl and Lennie James as Morgan. Watch a movie with an actor from The Walking Dead
2. I been into movies for awhile, but it got bigger (towards where I got into these hunts and this app) when I got the Criterion Godzilla Collection for Christmas once, shout out to my mom 💅💕 After that, I've been extremely fascinated by the Criterion Collection, even though I hardly understand what they are, and have made it a personal goal to watch all of them. Knowing me I won't continue any further unless I'm forced to. So, watch a movie that's a part of the Criterion Collection.
3. I’ve been working on a list recently about horror films that take place only in one location and it’s been super fun to make, but also tricky. So I’m using this as an excuse to check for suggestions, or you could also use (and like 😉🤪) my list! Watch a horror movie that takes place in one location.
4. For awhile I’ve been trying make a list using other people’s prompts by using only one actor. I got this idea from someone (and I’m so sorry I forgot who) who did this Nicolas Cage. My actor of chose has been Samuel L. Jackson, for some reason. Now, I could be unfair and make this list entirely based off of that, but it would be cheating. Instead, let’s just all watch a movie with Samuel L. Jackson.
5. To everyone in the discord, you obviously see my name being Mothra. Thanks to everyone that sent the lovely gifs too! I love Godzilla and Kaijus for some random reason, and clearly Mothra is my favorite one. I was gonna make this and narrow it down to making people watch one with Mothra in it, but I don’t like narrowing everyone’s freedom of choice. Watch a Kaiju movie. Doesn’t specifically have to be Godzilla, any giant monster is a fun giant monster!
6. I really like wrestling, not so much modern era though I try watching it from time to time. My favorite eras are the best, Attitude Era (1997-2002) and the Ruthless Aggression Era (2002-2008). And, before anyone pretends to care, my favorite is Mick Foley 🧦! Watch a movie with a wrestler from one of those two eras.
7. I use the tag function a lot, hence why I have over 4,000 tags. I don’t know why but it’s fun. I tag on my reviews the year, the genre and the stars according to Wikipedia. I feel bad for the actors I’ve only tagged once though, and I try going through sometimes and watch movies they’ve stared in to get them up more. Watch a movie with an actor I’ve only tagged once.
8. 2023 is almost over and I’ve come to learn I have not seen that many movies from this year. And I blame terrible marketing, not me being stupid… Watch a movie that came out this year (2023, duh…).
9. For awhile, I tried catching up to Chris in of the amount of movies he’s watched. That being in the 5,000… and even though I was watching three or four a day, I just couldn’t catch up! I don’t know how he does it, but he does it. Watch a movie that Chris has seen.
10. I find Japan fascinating. From the culture, the food, the history. I really have nothing else to say… Watch a movie made in Japan.
11. I’ve noticed no one in these hunts talk about documentaries. I don’t know if that’s for a reason, like if it’s a rule or something? I for one love history and I love watching documentaries. Watch a documentary or a biopicture. Bonus points if it’s true crime :)
12. It getting close to the holidays, I think back to an easier time of watching Disney Channel at home until my parents got back from work. And now I work every day and uh… am sad… I miss Disney Channel Original Movies. They use to be fun. Watch a Disney Christmas movie.
13. I don’t want to be exclusive to only Christmas. Other holidays exist and I feel bad leaving people out of it. Now… what exactly are those holidays? I don’t know… I know like one other one. But, I’m stupid so 🤪🫣. Watch a winter holiday movie that isn’t Christmas.
14. While making this list, me and my wife’s three year anniversary is coming up!! I love her super duper much even though she’s mean to me. Watch a movie with lesbians.
15. Speaking of my wife, she’s been making fun of me lately cause I just spend my time home under a blanket and watching TV or playing a game. Which like… that’s not even true either? We go out and do stuff all the time i don’t known what she’s talking about. Watch a vampire movie.
16. I like really bad movies. I don’t know why but I do. But a problem I have is adding a bunch of movies to my watchlist that I’ll never watch cause of the fear of knowing they’re bad… Watch one of the lowest rated films in your watchlist.
17. One thing I do like about this time of the year is the argument about Die Hard. Is a Christmas movie or not. The answer is no. It just takes place during Christmas. But I like the argument anyways. There’s several other movies like that too. Watch a movie that takes place during Christmas but isn’t a traditional Christmas movie.
18. I like eating. I’m really unprofessional I’m sorry…For real though, trying food and eating new things is fun. It’s fun seeing what other people eat. Watch a movie about food.
19. It’s my birthday 🥳
A lot of people when hosting these during their birthdays make it where you pick one from the year they were born or you pick one from the year you were born, but I don’t want people knowing how old I am cause then y'all gonna call me old and question why I still act like a child. So instead, watch a movie that is centered around a birthday.
20. I don’t wanna narrow it down to a one director thing but, I really love Wes Craven and what he’s done to the horror genre, my favorite genre. I’ve said this a lot and many people disagree with me when I say but I truly think Wes Craven has changed horror several times, specifically with Scream and with A Nightmare on Elm Street. Watch a movie directed by Wes Craven.
21. I’m a sucker for broadway and for musicals. Yes, yes, I was a gay theater kid… get the jokes out now… though I’ve never done a musical while in theater, I did do theater throughout school and even did some leading roles 😎💅. Watch a musical or a broadway play.
22. If my love for Smiling Friends hasn’t been enough evidence, I’ll say now that I really like the YouTube channel OneyPlays. They’re a rather funny kind of pals. And they talk about movies a lot. Watch a movie that’s talked about on OnePlays or SleepyCast. There’s a link to a last to help. Or… just watch Smiling Friends!! (I’m kidding).
23. Sea creatures are super neat :) I love the ocean and I think you all should to. So to make sure you love the ocean I’m using my powers of host to do that. Watch a movie about a sea creature.
24. Here’s a good one that none of you know, I have a PhD! Yup yup! Ok well… maybe not a REAL one… I took a two year course on Cryptozoology and joke about it being a PhD cause of the ology part. But yeah, I do love Cryptid monsters and have traveled the states going to various museums based on them. I could make this about watching a movie based on the ones I’ve been to the museums for buuuut I’m pretty sure only one has movies and that would the best and the greatest, Mothman. So, to give y’all a wider and better selection of an already small pile to choose from I’ll make it easier. Watch a movie about any cryptic monsters.
25. I feel like I’m kind of forced to make y’all watch a Christmas movie… Merry Christmas though! And I hope you all have a good one :) And watch a Christmas movie.
26. This time of the year makes me think about The Nightmare Before Christmas a lot cause it was at one point my favorite movie. And it honestly might still be I just haven’t seen it in awhile so who knows… but anyways, stop motion / stop animation is an amazing art style that doesn’t get talked about as much as it should. Watch a stop motion movie.
27. Since it’s my birth month let’s talk about where I was borrrrnnnn (I’m running out of prompt ideas). I was born in Ireland! My father was Irish until they moved to the U S A 🦅 after I was born. Watch a movie from Ireland.
28. This is gonna be a stupid one but I don’t care. I played a lot of Magic the Gathering, and sometimes when I get the chance to I still do. Only commander though, that’s the only good way to play… I used Golos before he got banned cause he was an great card for my Godzilla themed mutate deck, but… now I use Nekusar or Ashcoat (little rat people :3). Watch a movie with the same name as a Magic the Gathering card.
29. Speaking of Rats, I play a lot of Warhammer too. Both 40K and Age of Sigmar. Now, I was trying to think of something for 40K but it’s very hard to find movies that explore that idea of a universe good enough. But since I brought up my rat deck in the last prompt, I reminds me that I play Skaven, the rat army, in Age of Sigmar also. I play chaos in both Sigmar and 40K for anyone wonder, and I could make this about demons from 40K but instead I’m not cause not everyone likes demons. Not everyone likes rats either but… oh well. Watch a movie about rats.
30. I was going to make this a “way your least favorite genre” cause I absolutely hate Westerns. But then I saw this Scooby Doo movie and ed how amazing Scooby Doo is! I went through a little phase a few months ago where I just watched them for a week straight. Ok “watched”. They were on while me and my wife were going to sleep. But the point stands, they’re fun to watch no matter the age. Watch a Scooby Doo movie.
31. Its New Years Eve! Wooooo! :D
This year kind of went by super fast, at least for me. Next year is 2024, duh… I don’t have any goals ;-; I hope you all do and all have a safe and wonderful year.
Holy shit I gotta stop rambling
Watch a movie with 24 in the title.

  1. The Salvation

    Jeffery Dean Morgan

  2. Nightmare Alley
  3. Pet
  4. Spiral: From the Book of Saw
  5. Mothra
  6. G.I. Joe: Retaliation

    Dwayne Johnson :3

    Liam Cunningham
