]]>There's a point where the viewer lines up with Nicole Kidman's character as both are asked the same question. Do you believe?
Off-putting line deliveries. Manhattan apartments and people who feel hostile in their affluence. A Barry Lyndon reference. Hell yeah.
]]>Nightmare blunt rotation
]]>The big screen theatre-going experience re-confirmed to be so worth it.
I'm glad Dune got split up because watching some of the scenes in Part 2 breathe at a level of grandeur and scale I wasn't ready for was just shockingly good. The ing cast backed it all up with a level of "oomph" too that had me reeling.
Also, Austin Butler, I apologize. I didn't know you had that freak in you.
]]>Was reminded how great it is to go into a movie blind. Final act is just beautiful but I couldn't help crying through the majority of it. Go watch!!
]]>Both geographically and personally hitting a little too close to home, but it's hard not to appreciate the magnetism each actor brought into this.
Need to check out My Own Private Idaho after seeing what early Gus Van Sant had going on.
]]>The lack of connection in communication and a sense of abject loneliness that I'm a total mark for.
]]>Blocking is near perfection in this. Every time I watch a Kurosawa film I'm reminded that his work with the camera really elicits an audible reaction.
This is all to say that Yojimbo is a good time.
]]>Late-night palette cleanser. 100 minutes of straight fire.
]]>Was interested in seeing a film by Im Kwon-taek, but I'm good stopping here. Initial unease led to mounting levels of disturbed and then disgust at what morality tale was spun here.
]]>From the blown-out daylight scenes to modern dancers depicting apparitions twisting forward, Pulse is dream(nightmare)-like in ways that'll keep you mistaking what's before your eyes
I am willing to bet too that this would've been x10 more terrifying to watch in the early 2000's

]]>Felt like I stepped into a mid 2000’s fever dream where my high school history class teacher put on a historical docu-movie to celebrate the two week chapter where we studied Napoleon
]]>Inadvertently saw so many good parts out of context that it made me wish I could go back to see it at release in theatres. Still fun ✨
]]>More substance in that tub than the movie, but hey 🕺🏼
]]>Ideal movie to introduce your younger brother to and watch together
]]>A movie to the tune of my being. One I watched 3 times this year, that feels warm somehow to feel
through. Longing captured always captures me, but it’s the way that Decision to Leave shows the imperfections of desire and pride that I can’t quit. This is the movie that I can smoke inside the house (lovingly).

]]>Right amount of distance from the last time I watched that everything felt twisted and confused as I sorted what was really happening. Still 80 minutes of heat.

]]>I’d say “Mikey and Nicky double feature!” but honestly that’d be one too many emotional rollercoasters in a row
]]>Moon Seunga is amazing. Few movies can capture this strongly a child-like perspective (and lack thereof) on interpersonal struggles of a family and the idealism of our values when growing up. Hard not to relate and to be in pain while watching, but The Hill of Secrets is even more beautiful for it.
]]>This does in fact rip like a night drive down a desert highway
]]>when the two male leads have palpable energy that makes me either laugh with them or spiral into a state
