Beyond all of that, we have a massive slate so let's get right into it. On June 7th, we open Evil Does Not Exist, a film from Ryūsuke Hamaguchi about the importance of nature. The same day, Handling the Undead comes to us from Norway. It's a touching and harrowing story of reanimated loved ones. It was a hit at Sundance and it will break your heart and startle you deeply. Oh, and the same day, we're showing The Room with Greg Sestero on live commentary!
June 11th brings us a special showing of Being John Malkovich as part of the Critic's Eye film series! If you haven't seen this mind-bending comedy, you owe it to yourself to catch it. On the 13th, we open Tuesday a film about confronting death when you least expect it. Then the 14th brings us Songs of Earth, an existential Norwegian journey that puts the Earth in the spotlight.
On June 19, we're hosting a free community screening of How It Feels to Be Free, a documentary about six African-American performers who shook the entertainment industry. Being a huge Nina Simone fan myself, I will not be missing this. June 20th brings us The Bikeriders, a movie where Austin Butler gets to, yet again, don a leather jacket, but this time Tom Hardy is there!
June 21st brings us both Ghostlight and Memoria. The former is a new film about a father and daughter bonding over Shakespeare, while the latter is Apichatpong Weerasethakul's existential forever-in-theaters film with Tilda Swinton. It has played at IPH two other times! If you have not caught it previously, now would be a great time to take this trip.
Martin Scorcese's fantasy film, Hugo, opens up on June 22 as part of our Anniversary celebration. Come see this classic on the big screen. And another! On June 25th we're showing Zodiac, another one from the Critic's Eye film series. And lastly, June 28th will bring us Kinds of Kindness, the new film from Yorgos Lanthimos. If you loved Poor Things, you can not miss this.
Okay! That's it! 20+ reasons to us this June. Stop by for some amazing cinema and be sure to grab a cold drink to escape the heat.
