the dvd menu for ZODIAC is my favourite film

Re-Watch updated 05/23/25 – AMC Lincoln Square IMAX
I wish I could say the upgrade of seeing the finale of my all-time favorite franchise on one of the best and largest IMAX screens in the world somehow magically made me love this often baffling and sloppy mess, but fate had a different plan for me.
I’m fairly certain the marketing re-work of distancing Dead Reckoning Part 2 from its predecessor (a film I think is the best in the series)…
I need a hug after that.
A lot of horror films use grief as a metaphor, but this one says fuck all that and drowns you in the sad, brutal reality of loss - then somehow turns it into a good time at the movies.
Gnarly, cathartic, and beautifully filmed. Reminded me a lot of early Shyamalan.
There’s this "rule" in film editing: don’t show the door closing; just cut to the other side.
It's meant to be a reminder to avoid unnecessary or mundane sequences.
CONCLAVE ignores that entirely.
Characters pause, and shuffle around between lines, as their sneakers squeak on Italian marble. They actually eat and swallow food without cuts, and stop in the middle of important dialogue just to make a Nespresso in real time.
People are calling this a thriller (and I agree),…
