Source Code is a breath of fresh air in the Groundhog day sub-genre. It doesn’t play it safe and challenges several different philosophies surrounding the ‘source code’. 

It wastes no time jumping right into the action and matches the tension with an up beat score for most the runtime. To add to that, the 90 minute runtime definitely benefits this film as it prevents it from getting overstuffed or complicated. 

Jake Gyllenhaal is a top 5 favorite actor of mine. He really locks in and adds a ton of emotion to this film which in turn adds another layer to it. I didn’t expect to like this is as much as I did, I simply saw Jake G. and clicked play.
