A super fun and obviously over the top zombie movie with a big budget and an all star cast. Absolutely wall to wall action packed and tons of gross out scenes but it never takes itself too seriously. And you shouldn’t either. Perfect for friends, pizza and beer.

This is kind of a home invasion meets Red Dawn in Canada. It has a great ensemble cast and it plays as a taught and tense thriller all playing out over one night. I loved it and it was nearly perfectly executed.

A low budget horror anthology film, that reminds me a lot of hammer films or the original tales from the crypt. It’s a little slow going in some of the segments but by the time it was done I was glad I stuck around for the charming little tour de horror.

This is a lot like Invaders from Mars. Both the 50s version and the 80s, although this actually came out before the 80s remake. It also, bares resemblance to Invasion of the Body Snatchers, so it really is a fun amalgamation of various alien invasion movies. There’s some pretty decent practical effects sprinkled in throughout as well.

IMO this is from the peak honk Kong black magic era. This one in particular is everything you would want to see in an 80’s  fantasy horror film   from China. Maybe the genre takes some getting used to, especially if you don’t watch many foreign films, but I think you’re missing out if you don’t .

This movie is pretty strange. The plot is all over the place in of tone, locations as well as different characters quickly coming and going. And this lady truly got a nightmarish hand in life. She's a very sympathetic character and the actor plays her well enough that you get invested in things turning out good for her. It moves from London to America and has you doing some pretty intense cultural whiplash. There is a bit of a made for TV feel to it, but that would be selling it a little short because the quality is better. There's shades of Brian DePalma crossed with Giallo and although there's a lot of relationship drama you will certainly get you thriller and slasher aspects to punctuate.

Witchboard 2 is not too shabby. If you liked the first one you'll most likely enjoy this. It takes place in the 90's and it shows. It's like an episode of Melrose Place meets Amityville horror. In fact they could have easily made this as an entry innto the Amityville series. It deals heavily with possession and ghosts, and if you're even considering watch this I'm sure you know the type. Just know it's got all the usual questionable acting and weird pacing that goes from off the wall supernatural action packed murder sequence and then straight into 20 minutes of random interactions and exposition. hey, it's fun

This is a kick ass, all out home invasion masterpiece that steadily gets better and better as the movie progresses. It's a huge ensemble cast with so many kooky fun characters(including Barbara Crampton in a small roll). I don't think it's a spoiler if I say it's not long before they start dropping like flys in spectacular fashion. And don't even get me started on the final girl in this, she's such a boss bitch and I've noticed she consistently makes "best final girl" of all time lists. Also, the soundtrack is on point and there's comedy laced throughout. At almost 15 years old now, it's damn near a classic.

this is a road trip, thriller from the early 2k's. It's exactly what you think it is; bad jokes and cheap thrills. I didn't have much fun overall but It did have a few suspenseful parts and the two leads(Paul walker is cool) were pretty fun to see get stalked by a psycho trucker. They some pretty weird stuff on the CB radio. Bad move, boys 😂

This feels like an important film. I wasn't sure what I was i was getting into when I put it on, and with it being 70 years old, I was pretty disoriented. But wow, once you start to let it sink in, it's a really effective piece of art. It's actually quite hard to classify it, and to call it horror would be selling it short. It's more of psychological exploration into the kind of terror that is found in children fables and grim fairytales. It's poetic and poignant and has an air of timelessness. It has at least a few tonal shifts throughout it, and they play out like different chapters. The way in which it is framed up and the cinematography are best served in black and white. It’s not perfect and certain aspects and plot points I’m not a fan of(I won’t spoil it). If not for those fairly minor issues, easy 4, maybe 4.5 stars. 

I would't say it's a particularly fast paced movie; the violence and blood meter is quite low(but you'll get some). Throughout each scene It always feels full and rich, and there's a lot to take in. If I was forced to make a comparison I would say it's like Cape Fear, mixed with The Adventures of Tom sawyer, and even through in a little wizard of Oz or something.

wow what a crazy, sick, and unique take on the romantic vampire genre. Also throw in some coming of age drama and some sympathetic and complex characters, and you've really got something I'm not going to soon forget.
Super high quality everything, but the acting and writing are what really stand out. This is no B movie. Occasionally you forget you're watching any type of horror movie... but just you wait. I think this will be something that will stick with you as well.

Do not let the cheapness of the film quality and first couple scenes dissuade you from watching this! It's actually made by a very competent director, Jeff Lieberman, and he truly has an eye for these sort of things. It's a deep woods slasher type of movie, but at the same time it has a uniqueness to it. And there is some amazing and somewhat crazy wilderness oriented stunts going on in here. I even believe the young actors did most of the stunts them selves, which gives this a realistic, almost documentary feel to it. Also it's got George Kennedy as a heroic park ranger, what a great character actor he is. Love seeing him turn up as much as he did throughout the 80's.
So don't sleep on this one, I'm just waiting for the day I can catch it on the big screen. I've seen ments for it showing up on double features around the states so keep an eye out.

Just one of those must see's from a pioneering era that help get it all started. Horror and just film in general benefited from films like this. Very interesting and intriguing plot, a lotta heart, extensive dialogue, but ultimately such a cool, spooky vibe. It has that 1940's charm. Do your research, know the classics.

Wow this is Italian zombie exploitation to the max! The plot is extremely thin and in typical fashion has holes all throughout it. But that's ok because we all know that these movies are about the outrageous special effects, that were obviously created with love and dedication (I miss that). Again in typical fashion, the dialogue is just flat out comical and actually ads to the enjoyment factor.
I will say, this one is the kind that is best viewed with a group of friends and some beers. Watching it alone maybe a little tedious and seems like a crime to me.

The plot on this one is pretty good actually, it makes for a better narrative than the first one imo. It involves a pharmaceutical company sending a ragtag team out into the jungle in search of a rare plant. Again with the super dense jungle setting and I thought it looked pretty cool. ittedly it has a very Syfy channel look and feel to it and no major actors to speak of. But thats ok, they pull it off better than I was expecting and CGI onn the snakes isn't too bad(well it did't bother me, but I have a high tolerance). It's very 2000's core and I think it makes a good double feature with Anaconda 1.

Not my favorite Larry Cohen but it does explore some interesting themes involving cults and faith. Over all it's a totally bonkers, gritty NYC chaos piece and if you like 70's aesthetic you really aught'a check this out. It's uuh..... interesting.

As far as a new family with a blind girl moving into a mysterious giant castle, this remake does share some similarities to the original. But as you continue to watch you quickly realize this takes on a much different vibe and aesthetic. Which is not a bad thing, they definitely do their own thing and tried to appeal to a younger audience. I heard Barbara Crampton was an executive producer for this, and with her starring in the original I feel like she brought some good artistic aspects.
I dont see this getting great reviews but for me it's totally watchable so I will give it a middle of the road 3 star recommendation.

This movie is a cinematic marvel and it's astonishingly action packed and over the top from start to finish. Sure there is the occasional down moment but even those come with interesting dialogue and important exposition. It takes place in Thailand and China(english subtitles) and is made by the infamous Shaw Brothers Studio's. It falls within the genre of Hong Kong Black Magic or HKBM.

ittedly this perfect masterpiece is not for everybody, and not to sound pretentious, but I think it's just entirely "too much" for most people. Unfortunately I think a lot of the younger audiences of today would have a problem with the old fashion special effects and whatnot. And that's a real shame.

I'm just patiently waiting for a blu ray with extra features to be released. I'll have it on preorder the first day.

This takes place in a small fishing town in Wisconsin and the giant cast of local yokels is an absolute blast. The cheesy 80's slasher whodunit plot moved along at a nice pace and I think they just did a nice job in making all the parts come together in a cohesive way. Clearly a small budget but if can overlook some of the cheapness it's well worth a watch.

Im glad this got a Vinegar Syndrome release and I predict it will help it find a grip of new irers.

This is so insanely amateurish, undercooked and under funded. Let's just start with the fact that it's about 30 mins of recycled footage from the first one 🤣 and the story that they tack on is terrible (but pretty hilarious) There is actually one new kill that was pretty dope which took it from one and a half up to two stars. same as part one 🤷‍♂️

Apparently I didn't like this as much as many of you in here who gave it 3 and 4 stars. For me the premise just didn't send me anywhere and it fell flat. I can over look a lot of those issues as long as there is plenty of action and good special effects, but unfortunately there is not. Conversely, I don't mind a slow, methodical burn as long as there's an intriguing and well written story, which again, there is not.

oh well, I know I'll revisit this again within the year for a reevaluation.

If you've seen that absolute insanity fest that is Prom Night 2: Hello Marylou, then I think you're primed and ready to give this one a try. It's not too shabby!
It is a direct continuation of part 2 and Mary Lou is back again to wreak havoc on another unsuspecting group of students at the newly rebuilt Hamilton High. It's the typical cast of eclectic students and they are dragged through all the usual paces. B movie fun that just missed the magic of the 80's by one year.(1990)

Maybe not quite as good as the first one but there's still plenty to enjoy with this. Not to mention it's directed by the notorious and always enoyable, Jim Wynorski.
In this one Deathstalker himself is played by a new actor(pulls it off just fine) and is teamed up with another fierce female companion. It's another action packed journey across the treacherous countryside and onward to the obligatory showdown at the castle . Classic 80's sword & Sandal and does not disappoint.

The original Silence of the Lambs, and Hannibal Lectors first big screen appearance(played expertly by Brian Cox). A neon drenched psychological thriller, not quite a horror but an intriguing blend of genres. The soundtrack is cool too. Very 80's and atmospheric.

Minimal in the way of action sequences or gore, and heavy on the dialogue, tread accordingly. Still a must see though.

This was not a fun watch for me. Nicolas Cage character was super unlikable and that may have been the point but still I didn’t jive with it. Good acting and cage does his totally off-the-wall thing which is entertaining in parts. I would consider a rewatch and I don’t mind giving it two stars as of now. don’t go into this thinking it’s a regular vampire film. It’s pretty experimental.

This sequel took a pretty big swerve away from the first one. I think only one actor from the first is in it. Once again there is a gate to another dimension and it causes all kinds of havoc. while the first one was more of a younger kids movie this one focuses on a group teenagers and their typical problems, on top of that it’s kind of like a monkey  paw, genie in the lamp, Pandora’s box situation.  It’s a pretty weird movie but has enough horror elements to help it through when it drags in places. overall, a fun watch and pretty hard to predict it’s worth seeking out.

Abel Ferreira is an interesting director. Pretty cool choice to go black-and-white with this film, although a little too on the artsy pretentious side for me. But there’s lots in here to like a few great scenes and a lot of abstract dialogue. I need to watch this a second time these types usually grow on me.

This is pretty good Dario Argento. It’s classic Giallo and the characters are pretty interesting. Dario was still close to peak performance and it has some good kills and gore. Also, I didn’t know what the Stendhal syndrome was before watching this so that was a pretty cool concept to incorporate into his movie. Good performance from Asia As she is kind of hit or miss in her performances.

this is a solid remake in my opinion. They captured the spirit of the 1979 original very well, and then added some modern updates to hold the attention of todays ADD viewers. Lots crazy cgi piranha attacks and naked bodies, plus a bunch of chaotic scenes thrown in for good measure.

It's no surprise I liked this because the awesome and notorious French mad man, Alexander Aja directed it. This guy knows how to do action packed horror. Also, I've always liked Elizabeth Shue and I was more than happy to see her pop up as one of the main characters.

This is an absolute rehash of the first film, only bring it to America in the early 90's. Oh and Damian is now a girl named Dalia and it's made for TV melodrama. But alas I actually like made for tv horror movies, so I am definitely the core audience here. While it's only a 2 star movie I have no problem giving it at least 2.5. It's got some pretty fun omen-esque kills and set pieces. the actors are typical cheesy tv actors but they are serviceable. I also liked how they incorporate new-agey, hippy dippy, healing crystal culture, and makes for some damn funny scenes.

I'm impressed, in 2021 they managed to put an actual new spin on the long worn out vampire story! As I'm sure you all know Barbara Crampton is back in action and stars as the main character. She gets a chance to do some really cool and freaky stuff with performance. It's not the biggest of budget but it more than makes up for it in creativity and heart. Think domestic drama in the first act and then quickly moves into horror with dark satirical humor for the second and third. It's a very coherent, well thought out story, and they put it to screen well.

This just might be the pinnacle of this whole franchise. This is part 3 of the ancient killer Leprechaun on the hunt for his gold. Now he takes us to Las Vegas and man what a party it is. Just a really fun atmosphere the whole time and the pacing is lightning fast. It boasts a whole new cast of characters which are actually pretty interesting and at least reasonably developed. Mr Leprechaun is just as much as the rhyming, wise cracking monster that you've come to love so I would bet most people will have a good time with this. In fact, unless you're a completionist or just otherwise a super fan of this franchise, you can stop at this film and just enjoy it as a triolgy.

This is a fun, dark, haunted mausoleum, type film. It's only a PG rating yet I hardly noticed. That's the sign of some good horror, when you don't even miss the absence of bloody kills and gore. Good atmosphere does the trick just fine. I'm not totally sure but this must have been Meg Tilly's first roll-or one of them- and it was nice seeing her get her start in a playful, spooky ghost movie. Side note this was made and conceived before Poltergeist so you can't say it's one of those flicks trying to copy it.
So, over all, pretty simple and pretty fun.

A long opening scene that I think is every bit as good as the first one. It's the same director and he managed to capture lighting twice in the form of a mini suspense movie within a movie. In fact the whole structure of the movie is the same as the 1979 original. The middle part is a little slow, with a lot of procedural detective stuff, but still enjoyable and well put together. Jill Schoelen is great and I always love her scream queen performances, and this fits well on her resume. Carol Kane from the OG is back and it works real well.

There's some reveals throughout this movie that are incredible and quite frankly creepy and scary. Strong finish, again. Im surprised Fred Walton din't go for a three-peat and round out the trilogy. Who knows, may he still will...

I liked this quite a bit, and it's definitely got that y2k feel to it. Horror was going through a lot of changes right around this time and I would consider this a very good representative of the era. It has a lot of "dude bro" culture in it, but it also pokes fun at it and let's just say some of them get their comeuppance. This also maybe my favorite Snoop Dogg role on the big screen.
I also want to give it credit for being original and actually trying something new; not just being another rehash or remake of a classic.

It's about a group of party kids that purchase a old run down building with hopes of turning it into a night club. Little do they know something supernatural lurks within the walls and is about to make its big debut.

This is a totally outrageous, over the top, low budget 80's monstrosity...and I love it!
The whole thing almost takes on a kind of Jim Hensen muppet look, but honestly I think I liked the look of this better. It's a comic book on the big screen and it's damn funny.

It's about a bonkers alien that comes to the suburbs and totally invades this families house. He may or may-not accidentally eat a family member or two. Whether it was an accident or not is up for debate.

Pretty fun 90's era Argento, definitely on his way down but I am not one of those people that only like his earlier work. Sure this stuff has a different feel but I think he did a decent job of keeping up with the times.

This follows the general giallo format and has plenty of interesting characters to keep things fresh. Plus I like Asia Argento in this as a troubled young girl. solid film overall, not life changing but I don't have much criticism either.

Maybe only truly a 3 star movie but when I saw how much hate this was/is getting I needed to bump up an extra half star just to help with the ratings.

There is enough new and interesting stuff in here to keep you on your toes. Yes, it loosely follows the novel and keeps a lot of the same names, but then has plenty of twists and turns, and Argento put his flair in. Granted it's not his 1980's flair. It's more of his post 2000 older man flair and that really threw a lot of people off. None the less I dig it with it's bad CGI and all. that's party of the campy charm, and I think people will come back around to it when Dario es away and all of his lesser regarded films get reappraised.

more of the same, but I'm happy Pamala Springsteen(Bruce's sister) came back for it. I actually really liked the beginning of this one and how she sneaks into the now renamed camp. They were able to keep the creativity levels up to level of part 2, so it wsn't a let down in that department. Another thing I'm thannkful for is this 3rd one made it just under the wire and was still totally an 80's production! This franchise belongs in the 80's all the way.

Brian de Palma definitely makes some solid stuff, but this one isn't one of my favorites. It does have it's charm and I can it it's a well made thriller. I can see why it made a splash when it came out in 1980. Same year as Friday the 13th and it makes a good companion piece to it. I guess you could call it an erotic thriller, but actually maybe more so just a murder mystery. Michael Cane gives a performance worth mentioning as well. All inn all this film took some big swings and commend it for that.

this is a really good haunted house/ghost story. It was created and filmed before Poltergeist, so it was ahead of the curve, and I think is better than it. Its unquestionably scarier and more disturbing, hence the R rating and Poltergeist has a PG.
Barbara Hershey is the lead and she absolutely carries it! she beat out sally field and Jane fonda for the roll, and what a performance it is. Some really tough stuff and it required nudity and plenty of vulnerability. The film is also based on true events which makes it that much more cool.

One of the OG giallo films, total classic, and I love the early 70's aesthetics. Early Argento is interesting.

The lead character is in a band and then some murders start happening around him and his girlfriend and the whole thing plays out like a whodunit murder mystery. In other words a giallo. But giallo is more than that, it's a vibe, and it's the Italian beauty and style that makes them so unmistakeable.
I wouldn't classify this as horror, Argento's later films, yes, but this predates his horror stuff.

If you are a fan of Fulci I really don't see how you couldn't love, or at least like this. It contains everything you've come to know and love in his films, you can count on that. This is late in his career and I really liked the self aware, rather autobiographical, direction he took with this. The main character is essentially himself and making this was probably rather cathartic. It blurs the line between what is reality and what is fantasy.

But yeah I love this and I think it would benefit from a second watch.

This has all the trappings of Italian horror and I love it for that. Classic creepy haunted church vibes and it takes its time introducing us to its various, and colorful characters. I also loved the bonkers(of course) ending where it really ramps up. I was satisfied and that is where it earned most of it's 2.5 stars.

It's clear I didn't like it as much as most of my friends on here. To me it's one of the weaker Italian horrors of this era. There's just too many other masterpieces I would rather put on. Granted I've only seen it once and because of all it's high rating I'm very curious to give it another go.

He's back in a big way. More Leprechaun action, more special effects, LOTS more snappy rhymes and one liners. Not a lot to say except for that if you liked the first one there is absolutely no reason you shouldn't enjoy this. Possibly even more so. well unless you were expecting to see Jeniffer Aniston again. She had already moved onto more "prestigious" things (like Friends) 🤪

Bob Clark is at it again, and this time it's even pre Black Christmas. But don't worry he was obviously already interested in telling horror stories. This one focuses on a young kid freshly back from Vietnam. He's back in with his parents in a nice house in a small town. Even his girlfriend was waiting for him. But something is off, something is the matter with him.... there's a darkness.
This was clearly before the popular slasher formula was created(which in fact Bob Clack helped create with the aforementioned Black Christmas) so it's more of a slow, mystery vibe for most of the run time Kids of today would have a hard time with this, but to that I say, "they're missing out"...
Make no mistake, like so many horror films of the 70's, this is social commentary about the war and the lasting effect it has on all that experience it. The war follows you home to haunt you long after it's over...

This is a funn follow up to the first one and if you enjoyed it im sure you will like this. Like the first one it starts out making you wonder "is this a supernatural plot or is just really bizarre things happening to these people. It's got the whole late 80's road trip vibe and it takes it's time between action sequences. It's very atmospheric and has a psychological horror element to it. The two lead characters are a young couple traveling across the state New Mexico, and they are thankfully talented enough actors to pull this desert snake bite odyssey off, ad make it a decent ride.

calssic 90's style horror with dramatic colored lighting and set pieces that look like it's on a Nickelodeon set. It strikes a good balance between not taking itself too seriously and also not pulling any punches when it comes to kills and gore. It's a teen centric slasher type formula so don't expect anything too deep or profound. Doctor Giggles himself has turned out to be a pretty iconic horror character of the 90's and he pretty much only speaks in jokes and medical puns, which is fun.

This is a cringe inducing terror fest that showcases a subject that's guaranteed to get under anyones skin... I'm talking about dentistry! And ooooh boy this does not shy away from it. Think bright, B grade 90's sleaze with a glossy L.A. backdrop. Crazy rich people having marital problems, pool boys, receptionists, and 2 classic city detectives straight out of any other movie from this time period...
As appealing as that may sound, I don't love it haha.

I really only saw this because it's a Brian Yuzna film and I'm such a huge fan that I have to see everything he does. Call me a B. Yuzna completionist.

This movie is a mash up of a 50's sci fi space invasion movie(think Invaders from Mars) and the ooey gooey, bizarre body horror that was perfected in the 80's. Also, it mixes in some downright entertaining small town, religious zealot farmer VS real estate land developer, plus a few random side characters.
Look, It's not a perfect film, it's got funky pacing issues, the editing isn't great, and it's low budget. But it has heart and all the actors take it seriously enough to create some movie magic.

Oh did I mention Lucio Fulci is a producer and that the source material is an H P Lovecraft story called "color out of space" that is trippy as all hell?
if any of the above sounds interesting then this movie is for you... at least to some extent.
