For nostalgic reasons. It’s all about the effects immersed in their own references of the mercurial digital world, and I had forgotten how legendary the music here is; we miss you, Daft Punk. Mechanically competent and still cool to look at, it’s likely not just one of the best video game adaptations but one of the best blockbusters to enjoy. Compared to many today, it manages to stand out.

Wildly open, and I didn’t expect it to be a roundly dense tale about love and relationships. I adored the colors a lot, and the cinematography is one of the most intelligent and authentic I’ve ever seen. It feels revolutionary, rare, and modern at the same time. And what were the men in this? Hot, stylish, inducing stuff.

And that’s why I don’t like to socialize with neighbors. This one had been in my digital library for a while, and I think the time was right.

The beginning was too quickly propulsive for my grasp, but when it becomes provocatively agonizing, it culminates until the final tragedy. The sounds and facial expressions played a crucial role in the load of the journey for me, and the close-ups were cleverly cut in, which helped me to believe in the suffering of the entire situation, but I’m not sure about the time jumps. There is some imagery that further enriches the film, and it was a treat to appreciate the cinematography in a vintage and purely immersive line of sight. I also felt the tension of the streets of New York in its urban architecture of the time and the musty smell of that building.

Mia Farrow and her portrayal were incisive in my acquiescence to this utterly distressing pregnancy that felt like witnessing a female submission to the devilish social pressure in its pure gaslighting. It was devastating to watch her character, and I wanted to punch everyone who touched her, especially those creepy old-ass psychos and that bastard of a husband. Except for the friends in the kitchen scene at the party, which was comforting for a second. But imagine the horror of not having control over your own body. In short, poor woman, and I like the idea of encoming this as an analogy about abortion, which was only legalized in 1970 in NY. Crazy times, but I think I need to watch it again to catch all its background. It really feels that deep.

Maika Monroe is so captivating in these films and is probably my ultimate scream queen. She’s flawless, and here it felt like her character wasn’t connected to anything outside, but the hints and exposition weren’t compelling enough on screen for me to truly care. Although the film succeeded in portraying her distress within her own surroundings, leaving me feeling like an outsider.

But the cinematography was my favorite character and the most frightening part of the film, yet it felt underutilized in places. Through it, it manages to create an engaging and subtly dark atmosphere while also evoking elements of inquiry and anticipation. But it wasn’t dark enough, and I feel let down because it made me think they prioritized the visuals over the story’s execution. Especially with the ending, which even with its reveal wasn’t unsettling; of course it has its functional moments, but even Nicolas Cage’s character wasn’t effectively justified, remaining just a distasteful connection.

If the soundscape had been a bit stronger and more disturbing, perhaps I would have been more unsettled. I had sky-high expectations for this one. In the end, it turned out to be a minimalist cult atmospheric terror film that is minimally satanic with beautiful cinematography that provokes but didn’t truly lead me to the horror of satanism, at least on my first viewing. Technically incredible but ultimately unsatisfying because I wished it had consumed me entirely.

Fuck, this is an astro-diabolical banger! Where the hell have I been my whole life to experience this big fucker only now?! I don’t know shit, but I know what I just saw… Daddy Paul, this is it.

A cunningly infernal spatial direction fused with incredible production design that exerts an intense and malevolent attractive force like a black hole. The dimensions of the universe itself are already terrifying, and mixed with themes of the occult, it’s enough to make you shit your pants. I not only felt the dread and fear of being in space but also of being inside that hellish ship.

Really liked the startling, judgmental way the characters were crafted. I enjoyed the editing and the makeup, and some of the imagery is still in my mind. But the jumps? I was caught off guard by all of them, no joke. There are comedic moments that help balance the tension, and everything becomes so grand and epic. And the end credits music? It’s a banger too! Windows Media Player visualizer origin film. Vicious cinematic lighting and some cool effects, but it didn’t take long for them to stop working in the frame, leaving me distracted and annoyed. The VFX and color grading need more refinement for my liking.

This felt a bit experimental with traces of sci-fi horror that you’ve probably seen before, but not in a bad sense. I didn’t really like the structure, and the narrative wasn’t one of the best. But I’m okay with the mood and the fashion. When it’s nightmarish, it’s incredibly effective.

Not enough Iko Uwais. I enjoyed the flashbacks more than the actual post-event where the entire film takes place, and I would have loved to spend more time with the crew. Bonus points for the cast and moments of gore with practical effects. Be sure to watch this as loud as you can.

Caught this in IMAX, which will always be the best immersive format, and the hype is truly real, man. What a transcendental and monumental work that I witnessed!

The storytelling, the feeling, the music, and especially the Black Resilience message behind it, along with its ancestral kinematic interconnection that transported me, are immeasurable. The best use of red I’ve ever seen in a film. Totally clever and intimidating cinematography along with the music. From the jump I felt like I was in a horror film since the Vatican itself is already an eerie place, but it is a target because the real fear will always be man himself in the corridors with their vestments and secrets. We don’t talk enough about how terrifying a broken man and their actions can be, especially when he’s in a position of power.

Loved all the gossip, but I believe it requires more than one viewing to really understand the whole tea. The energy is quite heavy, I won’t deny it. And honestly, I didn’t expect that ending, serving as an inherently reconstructive metaphor for politics and values in the Catholic Church and their impact on humanity. But I think we already know what would happen in real life.

An awe-inspiring performance by Ralph Fiennes, and his character acted as a thread that kept me anxiously hooked from beginning to end. The film felt shorter than its actual runtime, though. I want more.

Interesting little friendly phantasmagoric technical film. I enjoyed the vibe and didn’t mind the camerawork, as it is a cool concept. However, the dynamics could have been a bit more out of the box since the same gimmick that can captivate you can also bog you down, turning it into a completely exhausting experience. But thanks to the conflicts, it doesn’t weaken entirely.

James Wan’s Insidious is a clear and very welcome inspiration here, as it is one of my favorite horror films. And this certainly gives you enough to feel empathy for the situation. But if they had tempered the story with more interactions between the family, it could have been a more intriguing experience because the film is only heightened and supernatural when the relationships are exposed.

I wasn’t a big fan of the blackout cuts; they didn’t truly favor the rhythm or the method itself, hindering the study and reflection on the scenes. And I would trade all those cuts for more screen time for the characters, opening up more space for disturbance with extranatural moments favoring the reasoning behind the chosen style for the film’s identity.

In some parts, this could have been way more confrontational. Precisely, it could have been a bit longer too, with a much more developed ending. It becomes clear that besides serving as a first-person element, it also represents its audience, and I’m not sure if it shapes in a significantly strong way. And this needed more music, though.

Perhaps I need another viewing because it’s not a bad film at all. I wouldn’t mind watching it again, especially for Lucy Liu. She looks incredible!

Obsessive, apathetic and wannabe. Nicole Kidman’s hard work in her recent roles is commendable, and I’m here for it. Frightful, intense, and astonishingly unique. This is still an extraordinarily distinct zombie film unlike any today, filled with tension and possessing a completely menacing, dark, and simultaneously unsettling aura. Call me crazy, but I believe that the closest we got to the feeling and pain of this scenario was during the COVID-19 pandemic. But really, any environment that involves destruction in life can come close.

Danny Boyle captures the essence of human loneliness in its pure darkness and frantic self-destruction with absolutely visceral performances, showing that we are disposable carnal beings, but highlighting the importance of companionship because, in fact, it is the moments and memories that will remain with us, as long as we are alive, of course. But here we are, killing each other as if we were our own virus, while we should be like horses in a herd galloping towards the horizon.

That chase sequence at the beginning of the church up to the explosion of the gas station is panic-stricken and exceptionally terrifying. Truly, a prime example of showstopping filmmaking. The technical singularity from the cinematography to the editing is so well-intentioned and positioned that it serves as a reflection of the film’s setting in its sinisterness, also revealing the characters’ mental state in the photography that frequently resembled a painting in a moody art exhibition. And it’s so interesting that even in a hopeless post-apocalyptic scenario with dead bodies everywhere, there are many beautiful shots, especially when the group is together in a momentary calm interacting with each other.

Many fascinating choices and aspects, not to mention the remarkable Soundtrack infusing the film with its vibe, definitely one of my favorites. I still have some thoughts, but I’ll save them for later. Doubtlessly, one of the best zombie films to witness.

I enjoyed everything about it, from the cinematography to the deconstruction of Jake’s character, again, glorious acting. And it seems that LA is the most mesmeric place for these films, huh?

Misanthropy has never been so well represented as in this film. Studiously, Lou feeds the mania and compulsion stimulated by invasive exposure in its unethical and narcissistic form, turning it into fuel for his own kind. In a naturalized way, it shows that we choose not to understand our own humanity and that we have already learned to live with this behavior because we wake up every day in search of our own fixation. James McAvoy, I think there is a film in your performance, as always.

Broken couples needing a spark and a boost in their relationship: this could be a great couples therapy, even if the exercises are a bit injurious and toxic with plenty of manipulative practices, but the truth will set you free. Mackenzie Davis’s character was a true heroine honoring her husband’s balls, and is it really that hard to accept that no child can hold a marriage together? That means hell.

This was amusingly infuriating thanks to the acting, and the empathy here was practically zero, but it was another thrilling watch with friends, so the stress was worth it after all.

Man, that’s the worst zombie makeup I’ve ever seen in a zombie flick. Chris Redfield’s sequence in the Spencer Mansion was pretty solid, though. At least they got the atmosphere right, but it was like being at a cheap buffet where, with so much variety of food, you don’t know where to start and want to put everything on your plate, causing all the food to spill, and in the end, you feel sad from overeating, waking up the next day with a stomachache.

Why did they put that damn poor cow at the end? It’s so ridiculous that it’s almost hilarious. And if you take a shot every time someone says “fuck,” I can guarantee that by the end of this, you’ll have all your holes fucked by a rocket launcher. Maybe some of you treated Paul W.S. Anderson’s film series too harshly, and I’m grateful that I was never part of that crowd.

Just play the games, guys, and leave those movies alone.

Utterly damaging. I felt like I was in a relatable, gay, ghostly therapy session seeking validation for my own life… Feeling like a stranger in your own home is truly exhausting and a drag. We always have so much to do, and most of the time we forget to see ourselves as human beings, allowing our purposes and desires to detach and become numb, turning them into unconquerable nightmares.

Loved the cinematography, mainly when the orange and the red were shining, but I feel like I need some time to absorb it as a whole because it was a very confronting and melancholic experience, and I’m not sure I liked the ending that much. But overall, it’s a beautifully thought-provoking and very well-made film, and I truly believe it won’t resonate with everyone, but that doesn’t change the fact that it works for those it needs to click for.

And can we talk about Paul Mescal’s gaze and smile or I’m late as always? This is my second film with him, and I am literally obsessed with his aura, and Andrew Scott was incredible too. The bond between them was electrifying.

Beautifully sincere film that is at once so deep and painful. A profound allegory of mirrored existential feelings and incurable photographic memories about grief, self-discovery, and affection.

Who are we really when the day ends? No matter how open and sunny the day may be, as long as we are mentally hurt, the pain and anxiety for a better tomorrow will always prevail within the anguished and self-destructive room of our mind, completely extinguishing the brightness and meaning of life. I won’t be able to forget this for a long time; it really spoke to me because there were moments when I could see myself in Paul Mescal’s character. It was like an arrow to the head.

Channing fucking Tatum, stop seducing me, you fucking tease. It’s the whole film showing us that he is one of the hottest actors working today in the industry, but there aren’t enough blinks.

Watched this with some friends I hadn’t seen in ages while we were having drinks and trying to smoke weed, and one of our friends couldn’t contain her excitement to watch it with us because it had a great message that required us to pay attention to all the details, and for her, it’s the perfect film to watch on International Women’s Day.

Zoë Kravitz has skills, and the way she handles the dynamics between the characters is the highlight here, but honestly, I thought the ending didn’t live up to the whole journey and drama of the scenario, which, by the way, was a bit hazy, and I swear it wasn’t the weed, but it was a pleasurable and fun experience.

3 stars for it and 5 for my friends.

A totally pragmatic and heavy experience anchored by stylish-magnetic-body-horror images and outstanding performances, particularly from the stunning Demi Moore, who lived up to the expectations. What I loved the most was the editing and the Practical Effects. It’s a completely referenced work. And I believe we are not too far away from having a “cosmetic procedure” like that? Plastic surgery must really be addictive.

If someone asks me the meaning of the word visceral, I will simply show them this film. I am literally gagged, and what a fucking pancake of an ending. It gave me some good laughs because I really needed it! It was a blast.

I’m attempting to catch up on missed films from last year, and one thing is certain: I need to start my therapy immediately for having missed that shit in theaters, damn it!

What a fucking turn-on! This body film is basically the expression of a strong attraction and excitement towards something or someone in a sporty, intense, and sexy way. I’m really sorry, but this is way beyond just tennis, and I believe it’s the biggest representation of an open relationship I’ve ever seen, and the legs? I couldn’t stop drooling… Everyone here is so hot and sultry!

The film is overpowering from its cinematography to the Soundtrack. In of storytelling, even if it can be challenging at times, it is definitely one of the most unique and engaging I have ever seen. I finished it all wet, and what a fascinating experience; I can hardly wait to watch it again. Now I understand the crowd’s outrage with the Oscars.

Another solid addition to the list of films that could take place in the unconnected Cloverfield universe.

As a prequel to the first two films, I’m still not sure; it felt more like a spin-off and, frankly, it didn’t cover much about the future of the trilogy. I still don’t understand why we went backwards. And even in the moments of dialogue, I couldn’t quite understand what they were saying because of the Sound Design; it wasn’t one of the best.

What a handsome cat! It was a delight to watch him and I wanted to cuddle him at every moment. So fucking adorable. This film only made me want to have one even more… Frodo, I love you unconditionally.

John Goodman yelling the name 'Michelle' would make a terrific alarm sound; I’d probably never be late to work again. But seriously, such an intense and terrifying son of a bitch. His role is one of the most psychotic and repulsive I’ve ever seen in a film, not to mention his facial expressions—he truly poured his soul into it. Who said we didn’t have a monster here?

The tension is immaculate, and I say with confidence that the storytelling, specifically the screenplay, is perfection. In many ways, it is indeed a Cloverfield film; even on a smaller scale, it shows that you don’t need a city being destroyed to be consumed by fear and trials, while at the same time exploring the instincts, showcasing the best or the worst, especially the strength of each individual. It distills all the survival themes from the first film and crams them into a tighter space, resulting in a more claustrophobic experience and reinforcing that anything can happen during an extraterrestrial invasion.

Many complain about the ending but forget that we are in a science fiction picture. Hello? It’s like a final test for Michelle’s personal evolution, and the film made it clear from the beginning that she would be the one challenged. Literally, it’s the cherry on top, and what an addictive cake it is. People forget that films like this can be well-written even if their final act is a nod to the genre itself.

Entertaining and relaxed. Even with some gaps, it flows nicely. And what a delicious duo! The chemistry was there and it’s probably my favorite part of it. Maybe it’s the environment and the operational style, but the film gave me some real Max Steel vibes, didn’t it? I really enjoyed it.

This is not a regular “monster” flick, and to me, it is much more than that. I believe this is the first time I’m writing about it.

I had just finished the fourth grade of school, and by the end of that year, my parents decided to move to a different district in the city where I was born. When I received the news, I felt sad and apprehensive because I had no idea what was going on or what would happen; I was bewildered and terrified since I had never questioned why, and I suppose it was the first time I was afraid of the future.

New home, street, neighbors, school, teachers, stares, attempts to make friends, new bullies, and fights. I always felt different from the other kids, and I believe that the feeling of trying to fit in or not belonging to a group, and especially not having a voice, is one of the worst feelings in the world. But then, one night while watching open TV, when everything was still very confusing in my head, Cloverfield came to me.

Aside from being an immersive masterwork of environmental chaos, this was one of the first, if not the first, films that truly captured my attention. There were people in the dark, terrified, shouting, and fleeing in despair, all captured through the lens of a trembling camera, and I was both anxiously captivated and horrified because everything felt so real, and worst of all, I had no idea what they were escaping from. I was completely immersed, and that was when I felt for the first time that I was part of something; it was as if I were inside the television with them.

When the rains were severe, there was a high possibility of flooding in the area where we lived, and sadly, one day it happened: our home was flooded with water, and there was nothing we could do; it was absolute anguish. I sincerely hope all this writing makes sense in of where I want to go, but that’s the feeling of this film. It’s not just about monsters or aliens, but about the unknown and the horror of confinement, and it succeeds in conveying disaster. Being entirely Found Footage is one of the most brilliant techniques to achieve this. It not only accomplished its task intelligently, but it also won me over by serving as my greatest representative when I needed it the most.

Cloverfield is about bad decisions and loss, and losing both someone and something material is one of the worst feelings that can ever exist. But deep down we don’t think about it, and you will never truly know how to act until it happens. Maybe this is our already naturalized process, maybe we are the monster. Anyway, if you’ve read this far, I really appreciate it because I tried my best to express my reason why this film is so important to me.

Currently, my parents and I are living in the neighborhood where we were born. We’re back, everyone!

The title is the best thing here along with the cast, and it really screams for a streaming release. For a J.J. Abrams production, it leaves a lot to be desired; it feels and looks very cheap, and I’m still upset because I wanted it to be really good back then. I won’t deny that some connections and scenes were quite nice, and the Soundtrack is fantastic, but overall it’s very ugly and erratic. Still, I have hopes for a great and epic direct sequel to the first film.

Meticulous and lovely filmmaking by del Toro. The harsh reality is when we are harmed or emotionally disturbed, we might have behaviors and repercussions that will plague us for the rest of our lives.

The dialogue and character development resonated with me the most. Everything here seemed to be well thought out and crafted with a lot of care and emotional strain. And the children’s performances were so special and remarkable; their connection to the story was very sincere and ionate, adding to the storytelling’s richness and spookiness. Fernando Tielve was genuinely amazing, and all of his scenes were enchanting.

The images are wonderful, so many great shots, and I loved how the camera flowed like a ghost in some sequences, giving the sensation that you were right there with the kids. Truly, outstanding camerawork. I haven’t looked into it yet, but I hope this film received some awards because it earned them.

It’s one of those situations where I came for the cast and stayed for the cast.

Quite inconsistent in places, and the lack of focus and attitude in the writing becomes evident, but it improves towards the end. Without a doubt, it’s a film with good intentions, but unfortunately it didn’t achieve its idealized purpose and will certainly leave you feeling unsatisfied.

However, it remains a congenial action/spin-off film thanks to the performances, of course. The music is still good, but the cinematography is able because I felt it tried to replicate a lot of the style of the first film without any deep perspective, leaving it without a true visual impact for me. Well, I’ll be waiting for Alejandro’s unfinished revenge.
