Viridiana is a visually stunning and emotionally powerful film that delivers a gut-punch. The cinematography is breathtaking, with each frame meticulously crafted to strike a balance between beauty and unease.
Silvia Pinal delivers a remarkable performance as the title character. Her quiet intensity carries the film’s moral complexity… a revelation. The Last Supper scene is a masterclass in subversive satire, a haunting and gorgeous critique of faith and humanity.

So this is actually how I find most of my obscure film finds: I saw a clip on X and was immediately captivated by the European female lead. In this case, Romy Schneider. WOW. A revelation indeed.
The film is a sleek, slow-burn crime noir that kept me hooked with Romy Schneider’s mesmerizing Lily. Her intoxicating charm drives Félix, her mysterious suitor, to extreme choices.
The ending left me torn. I was shocked and filled with pity, yet not surprised by Felix’s actions in the end. I can completely understand why he acted as he did. Of course, my reaction was, “I would have done the same thing.”

“This movie? Beach Blanket Bingo? It’s got everything: ‘60s beach vibes so hot they’re basically a disco ball exploding in a sand dune. Frankie and Annette? They’re serving chemistry so fierce it’s like a piña colada with an extra shot of “WOW”.

But hold up, the side characters are where it’s at-Bonehead’s giving clueless himbo realness, Eric Von Zipper’s out here with his Rat Pack swagger like a greaser gremlin, and Buster Keaton? Deadpan daddy dropping silent film shade.

The go-go dancing? It’s a full-on fever dream-legs kicking, hips shaking, pure electric zhuzh . And don’t sleep on Linda Evans as Sugar Kane. She’s a revelation , strutting in with big hair, bigger dreams, serving campy queen energy that slaps harder than a surfboard to the face (that was my input).

Oh, and Don Rickles? He’s tossing insults like glitter bombs in a stand-up bit that’s unhinged perfection.

This flick’s got skydiving stunts, mermaid vibes, and enough retro chaos to make your heart scream, “I’m alive!” Beach Blanket Bingo is the hottest club in 1965, and it’s open all summer.” - Well said my friend.

Anthony Mackie gives a satisfactory as the new Cap. While he’s finding his stride in the character, it should be fun to see how Sam grows into Steve Rogers’ larger than life shadow.
Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus Ross feels off and forced. Definitely prefer WIlliam Hurt’s performance in the role (RIP).

This movie starts with a fun story about a boy who’s smitten with the gorgeous Malena. It’s hilarious, but then the town’s cruelty towards her shows the real story I wanted to see: Malena’s fight to survive World War II while dealing with the emotional toll that losing her husband took, and the great shame she must have felt in trading her worth for scraps to survive.

As the movie starts off lighthearted and whimsical, Malena’s story really hits me. I wanted to know more about her, and when the tone shifts to dark drama, it felt a bit abrupt. I couldn’t help but feel really sorry for Malena, especially in the early scenes when the men and boys in town catcalled and lusted after her. It was so obsessive, and it made me sad for her.

But there was a glimmer of hope when Renato, after seeing what happened to Malena, finally saw her not as an object to lust after, but as a real person. He ed those quiet moments when she was mourning the loss of her husband. Renato grew up, and the town also redeemed itself in the end. When the war ended, people realized they had to do whatever they could to survive. And if that meant having sex with other people’s husbands for food, well, so be it. But a price would need to be paid, before a pardoning of sins could happen.

I won’t spoil the end, but Malena and Renato come out of this dark time in Italian history changed and better people. The end was bittersweet, but it was also hopeful.

Also Ennio Morricone’s score is absolutely gorgeous.

I enjoyed it, but definitely wanted more. Also, it seemed to go on longer than needed. Got bored with story about 2/3 in. Just wasn’t compelling enough.
Misha Reeves was smokin’ though and worth a watch alone.

A slick, twisty neo-noir thriller. Lucy Liu is fantastic as usual, and while not really a Josh Hartnett fan, his performance as the cool, mysterious Sleven is spot-on.
The film dances between humor and grit, giving a Usual Suspects vibe. Cool twists at the end made the film ultimately enjoyable for me. A notch above some other Tarantino, Guy Ritchie films of the era.

What a dark, twisted film this was. First time watch for me. Baby Jane dives deep into Hollywood’s dark side with Bette Davis and Joan Crawford delivering powerhouse performances. Bette Davis was particularly mesmerizing.

However, for me, it was Victor Buono who was…A REVELATION as Edwin. I never knew there was more to this man than KING TUT from Batman ‘66. Although he was in another great movie, 1964’s The Strangler. Give it a watch!

This film’s unsettling atmosphere and shocking moments remain impactful, earning it a well-deserved place in cinema history.

Just imagine if there was an E!: True Hollywood Story made of these two back in the day…whoooosh. Scandalous.

Not quite the OPUS I was hoping for. However, it was a creepy, quirky film with standout performances from Malkovich and Ayo. Yes, I refer to them with only a single name…typically reserved for the greats in their respective arts…Bowie, Brittany, Sinatra, “Weird” Al, Scorsese, Leo, Shatner.
Malkovich’s enigmatic, creepy edge is reminiscent of his iconic roles in Being John Malkovich and his ULTIMATE performance in Con Air. Dude plays uncomfortably weird like no other.
I enjoyed the eerie vibe and surprising moments of Opus, though it left me wanting more. Nice “twist” at the end though.
This one kind of snuck up on me as I had no idea this was even made or released. Overall, it’s a solid watch for fans of offbeat horror cinema.

This had a lot of potential —but fumbles it with a weak script, flat direction, and some uncomfortable male gaze scenes that veer into “rapey” territory. The soft-focus presentation didn’t help, giving the whole thing a sleazy softcore vibe.

Marlene Clark is divine as Lena, a cobra-bitten woman gifted with eternal youth and male seduction. They could have done better with her character though. She is poorly handled, reduced to a tragic fantasy rather than a powerful mythic figure. A darn shame for sure.

Joy Bang, however, is a revelation as Joanna. Well cast in this role.
I’d love to see this premise reimagined today, with Lena fully empowered, the gaze flipped and her staring down the dudes who fall to her venomous charms. Maybe some day…

This was a wild, over-the-top mix of gore and dark humor and I am sure that elements of this flick were inspiration for last year’s brilliant The Substance. The outrageous characters and absurd scenes at times left me dazed and in disbelief.
Regina Gaigalas as Shaan is a standout, her performance is revelatory.
This film is a deep dive into 1990’s Aussie grind house horror and definitely not for everyone. BUT if you’re into bizarre horror and Australian stereotypes, then this is your film.

A charming blend of retro sci-fi visuals and quirky storytelling! Greta Thyssen’s performance as Ingrid was… a revelation, adding an extra layer of allure. It’s fascinating to see how the 50’s and 60’s Sci-Fi films imagined the future. The 2001 that was in the film was NOTHING like our 2001. Not even like 2025.

While I enjoyed the silly tone and laughed along with my family, I am a 53-year old man. I have played the game once. Didn’t get it. However, fans of Hess’s previous work (if there’s any out there) will appreciate the nods to his other films and get some joy out of that.

There’s a lot of things I can relate to in this film, and a lot of things that are foreign to me. I’ve been married 30 years so you’re bound to feel some of the same emotions at times towards your spouse that the Roses did during their marriage.
First, I can’t relate to wanting to keep a house so bad that I would be as destructive and hateful as they both were to each other.
Secondly, although my wife doesn’t harbor a collection of shoes as large as Mrs. Rose, I can’t help but think it would be fun in the name of spite to cut off all the heels of her shoes.
Thirdly, never eat the fish or the pate. My wife and I both strongly agree on this.
Lastly, I too have a fondness for gymnasts.

Rewatched this today, 34 years after I first met Jim Morrison through Oliver Stone’s chaotic, haunting lens, and it’s a gut punch like never before. Val Kilmer is Jim—wild, lost, pleading for an anchor he’ll never find.
That Factory scene broke me: the band walking away as he begs them to stay, swallowed by vampires he can’t see. It’s loneliness in neon. Yesterday, we lost Val, and today, I teared up watching him burn so bright. Stone’s vision still stings—beautiful, sad, and sinfully alive. Rest easy, Val—you gave us a legend.
