Viridiana

1961

★★★★ Liked Watched

Viridiana is a visually stunning and emotionally powerful film that delivers a gut-punch. The cinematography is breathtaking, with each frame meticulously crafted to strike a balance between beauty and unease.
Silvia Pinal delivers a remarkable performance as the title character. Her quiet intensity carries the film’s moral complexity… a revelation. The Last Supper scene is a masterclass in subversive satire, a haunting and gorgeous critique of faith and humanity.

The Witchmaker

The Witchmaker delivers pure ‘60s B-movie gold, baby!
Thordis Brandt’s wide-eyed shift from terror to mystic queen, paired with John Lodge’s hammy warlock swagger, make this the ultimate in retro cheese. Brandt’s performance was a revelation!
The film features a creepy cult in the bayou kidnapping and sacrificing women to find their new queen witch. This was the dirty sleaze I was looking to watch.

Enjoyed this film. It gave me a much needed laugh.

First time watch and I was glad it was in 3-D and on the big screen. Definitely a creative, creepy, bizarrely unsettling film for youngsters.
For adults, it’s probably better to watch if you’re on shrooms or acid. Nonetheless, it’s a pretty good film.
Also, I don’t condone taking either shrooms or acid…Just saying.
