Probably the best use of Fielder's talents on this show was this series finale in which he was actually able to help someone get some closure on a long lost flame. There is an undercurrent of sadness in both the leads but utilizing the show's crazy tactics really added to everything here.
]]>Stearns continues to take huge swings. This feels like a lesser version of many of the themes from The Art of Self-Defense and the Gillian character feels like a double of the lead of that one, but still gotta love just how on your toes his films keep you.
]]>What a waste of talent - you pick them, they are wasted. If this movie imploded the film industry, it would have been valid to end the form. Fuck you, Disney.
]]>One of my favorite Eisenberg performances in an insane movie where the insanity takes you out of it for a bit but then it gets even more insane and you have no choice but to enjoy the insane ride.
]]>This movie snuck up on me in that I know who Stearns is but have not watched any of his films. This less than 90 minute comedic thriller keeps you guessing and whatever doesn't work is overshadowed by all the things that do. A great directorial debut with smart writing and two great lead performances.
]]>A taut and tight story that keeps you engaged the entire time. There's a clear villain and rooting for the giant gives you skin in the game. The animation looks cool

]]>This feels like a James Gunn student film to get to Guardians and Peacemaker. Ellen (at the time) Page is the standout going wild.
]]>Easy horror comedy with good actors and decent jokes and gore.

]]>Another entertaining entry into the Untold series. The idea that they could have more voices on both sides and go a little deeper could have been helpful here, but this series is equal to 30 For 30 now.
]]>Many moments made me laugh, but my favorite was when they pushed the police dog up the sewer shaft.
]]>The set design and voyeurism of the camera alone makes this a stunning film. Add in great performances, fun side characters and a mystery you want to see play out and you have a classic that still holds upl
]]>The preview made me think this would be one of the worst movies of the year but it's more fun than expected, featuring strong world building, good jokes and charismatic performances from Momoa and Black. Jared Hess loves tater tots.
]]>Great chemistry between Grant and Kelly. Breathtaking scenery. Classic Hitchcock tension. The ending falls a little flat, which is what makes this still good but not as good as the best Grant / Hitchcock collabs.
]]>Still charming but getting looser in structure and yes, I know it sounds odd, believability.
]]>Watched on Saturday May 17, 2025.
]]>The tension keeps getting more and more constricting as the picture develops. It was a good look into paranoia and how the mind can take you places you don't want it to. Great setting and of course the cast. Plus Hitch is always teaching us something with his camera. I wonder if the ending had been less definitive if it would have been more effective.
]]>The theater elite are torn asunder by Davis and Sanders. Eve is a horrible person and you want to see her get her comeuppance which she kind of does. The movie is a little long, but still a good picture.
]]>One of my mom's favorite movies, she had the poster hung up at our house, but this was my first time seeing it. The longing and love affair carry the piece and it's all classic Hollywood with the music and the look.
]]>This is basically a family drama that mostly takes place in a house. That could easily be being. But this thing sizzles. Every character is so well drawn, their motivations and actions are clear, there are some very harrowing scenes, and the acting is all on point. What a great watch.
]]>Love Keke and Sza. They are better than the material.
]]>Great look at one of the most famous fights in sports history. They do a very good job of letting the players have their say and showing the lasting effects of the narrative that it was their faults.
]]>This movie is completely ridiculous and all over the place. I don't mind that, but the last half hour felt like 3 hours.
]]>This one is all over the place and with not as many strong returns as Hold That Ghost, though the lead duo still brings the charm.
]]>Paint by numbers action bang bang stuff but the action sequences are good.
]]>Marvel continues to trudge out derivative fair. This one was boring, didn't look good and just makes me hope they take a break.
]]>Plot and logic are things I'm usually big on, but Abbott and Costello are so funny and charming, it's easy to forgive whatever leaps one has to make to follow the movie. An easy watch.
]]>It feels like an adaptation of a book where they felt the need to put everything from the book in the movie.
]]>Unlike Citizen Kane, which distilled too many ideas down to the finest, Mank suffers from loss of momentum whenever they move to the political aspects of the story. Less focus there would have keyed in on the friction - yes this was part of it, but too much - and locked into the good stuff.
]]>An enthusiastic if low rating because it's hard to sustain this for the full run time, but it's unique and interesting and original and I hope we get more projects like this.
]]>This movie is basically perfect. The use of Dutch angles, the mood, the setting, the twists - they all work. And it's got my favorite zither score ever put on film. If you are looking for a negative, could it be that Welles is so charismatic that it's hard to root against him even though he's done heinous things?
]]>You know what you're getting with a Hughes / Deutch movie and it's a pleasure every time out. Candy was so hot around this time, just a comic everyman for everything he was in. Akroyd goes big as the character dictates. Benning and Prosky are fun ing players. And you want to go spend some time at the lake - as long as the raccoons and the bears keep away.
]]>Watched on Friday April 11, 2025.
]]>Easy, breezy and you know the rest of it.
]]>Grant, Stewart, Hepburn, Cuckor - duh - can't miss with this group.
]]>Easy enough watch telling us why it's so important to keep military secrets. If they figured it out in a short film in 1941, why does the secretary of defense still have a job after leaking war plans?
]]>I really liked the chemistry between McCrea and Colbert so when they get separated it slows the entire momentum of the film down for me. That's not a knock on the ing players, I just wanted more with them even though they are both somewhat intolerable with their attitudes. Sturgis is unique and plays with form in an interesting way always.
]]>This movie is having so much fun that as a viewer, you are right there with it. The female backing chorus is great. Moranis and Greene are a classic pair and the practical effects are fantastic. It doesn't hurt that every song is so catchy. Really a delight.
]]>Great setting, easy character arcs to follow, and love the full frames and camera movement. There is a lot to like but the story didn't captivate me.
]]>A charming first hour loses momentum with the tonal change in the second half of Act 2 but the ending brings it all back. Really enjoyable film that I'm shocked hasn't been remade officially.
]]>As a movie, it didn't do much. But points for fighting nazis!
]]>This film looks slick and I love the effects and Hermann's music, but it dies almost immediately from a boring script full of exposition. By the time we get to the climactic trial, I'm ready for the verdict to be over.
]]>Super stylish and sleek. A boiling pot that eventually spills over. Love the look and solid, if somewhat confusing, story.
]]>I often hate this format as it's hard for the limited series to sustain momentum when a regular doc would works better. In this case, they do a good job telling the story and keeping the audience's interest - also the people are horrid.
]]>If you love it or hate it, I get it. I'm in the middle but am glad it's a big screen movie.
]]>Murray cooks. There are other people in the movie also.
]]>The best thing I can say about this movie is that it won the Mussolini Cup at the Venice Film Festival and I am cool not being on board with anything Mussolini ed.
]]>This piece was chugging along nicely until the tour group leaves. Once the focus is on Deborah Kerr, who doesn't resonate the same way Burton does, it's hard to keep the same enthusiasm for the film.
]]>Another hard-boiled grinder that really shows the skill level of Bogart and Graham. Act 3, while ratcheting up Bogart's paranoia effectively, also takes a lot for the audience to go along with the ride.
]]>The Lord of the Rings trilogy is great but there can only be one precious at the top of the list.
]]>The Harry Potter films ranked from best to worst.
