It was uncomfortable at first to see smartphones, self driving cars, and AI in Cronenberg. However Videodrome and eXistenZ were at one point, about cutting edge technology. Cronenberg is experiencing technology at the same rate everyone else is, just this is the first time I’ve seen one of his films when the technology was contemporary.
