The entire film as the fear level and suspense keeps getting ratcheted up, I'm cynically thinking to myself "Well, this has been great, but any second now, the bottom’s going to fall out—here come the jump scares and/or CGI bells and whistles."

This is the best I've ever seen Barbara Stanwyck and I'm a fan. She absolutely annihilated in this role. Burt Lancaster is always fantastic and this role is no different.
