Was man "Dune Part Two" sicher nicht vorwerfen kann, ist fehlende Leidenschaft für die Story und das ganze Potenzial dieser Geschichte. Der gesamte Cast ist wie schon in Teil 1 großartig, die Sets sind wunderschön und wirken neu, das Design des Films wirkt stimmig und echt, die vorzügliche Kameraarbeit reisst einen mitten rein nach Arrakis, die harten Choreografien sind der Hammer, die wahnsinns Effekte ausnahmslos gelungen und vor allem ergreift die grandiose Musik einen immer und immer wieder. Aus diesen Aspekten setzt der Film das neue Ideal für das Kino und ich bin deshalb einige Male mit strahlenden Augen im Kinosessel gesessen.
Dazu kommen echte Gänsehautmomente, wie z. B der erste Ritt auf dem Wurm oder das Erwachen von Paul.
So Vieles macht der Film richtig und doch bin ich ziemlich enttäuscht aus dem Kino gelaufen. Und im Prinzip geht es um den gleichen Kritikpunkt wie in Teil 1, dieses Mal ist es aber extrem.

Es iert einfach viel zu wenig für diese Laufzeit und der Film ist aus meiner Sicht mindestens 45min zu lang. Grob geschätzt: Minute 90-120 sind eine Qual, da ohne Ende über Pauls Bestimmung geredet und geredet und geredet wird. Jede Figur bespricht das gleiche Thema und die Story kommt einfach nicht weiter in Gang.
Und wenn es dann doch zur finalen Schlacht am Ende kommt, wird diese nach 5min abgehakt.

Dazu wird die Liebesbeziehung zwischen Paul und Chani zwar langsam aufgebaut, richtig spürbar ist aber nie was.

Außerdem haben mir die Änderungen zum Buch nicht so sehr gefallen. Die gibt's vermutlich auch nur, damit die Fortsetzung leichter umzusetzen ist.

Bei allem Jammern, bleibt trotzdem festzuhalten, dass "Dune Part Two" kein schlechter Film ist. Nur leider ganz weit weg vom erhofften Meisterwerk, welches so viele Kritiken versprochen haben.

What you certainly can't accuse "Dune Part Two" of is a lack of ion for the story and the full potential of this story. As in Part 1, the entire cast is great, the sets are beautiful and seem new, the design of the film seems coherent and real, the excellent camera work takes you straight to Arrakis, the hard choreographies are awesome, the incredible effects are without exception successful and above all, the magnificent music moves you over and over again. From these aspects, the film sets the new ideal for cinema and I sat in the cinema seat several times with beaming eyes.

There are also real goosebumps moments, such as: the first ride on the worm or the awakening of Paul.

The film does so many things right and yet I left the cinema quite disappointed.
And basically it's about the same criticism as in part 1, but this time it's extreme.

There is simply far too little happening for this running time and in my opinion the film is at least 45 minutes too long. Rough estimate: Minutes 90-120 are torture, as Paul's destiny is talked and talked and talked about endlessly. Every character discusses the same topic and the story just doesn't move forward.

And if it does come to the final battle at the end, it will be checked off after 5 minutes.

The love relationship between Paul and Chani is slowly built up, but nothing is ever really noticeable.

I also didn't like the changes to the book that much. They probably only exist to make the sequel easier to implement.

Despite all the complaining, it remains to be said that "Dune Part Two" is not a bad film. Unfortunately, it's far from the hoped-for masterpiece that so many reviews promised.
