The assemblage of footage from various media sources is absolutely masterful, creating a work that’s both an emotional expression and a logistically cohesive, lucid portrait of what happened during the WTO protests, almost purely through compiling existing footage and without the typical documentary talking heads/retrospective construction. It elicits a gut-wrenching present-tense immediacy, which not only leads to a greater understanding of this specific event but displays just how little things have changed in the following decades. one of the most reddit “films” i’ve ever seen. the ultimate “I CLAPPED BECAUSE I KNOW THAT REFERENCE” movie. felt like I was watching Spiderman fanfiction written by a 3rd grader. just totally shallow and contains nothing interesting thematically beyond “ THIS!?” even in the potentially emotional moments, the emphasis is on the reference rather than any real meaning beyond a callback to something. there’s no deconstruction or anything interesting happening. any growth that Peter has in this film is…
