It all came down to this. After watching as many Sato films in preparation for a one-off screening of his debut film, we headed down to Tokyo! 

First and foremost, the lobby was beautiful. Decorated with posters, newspaper clippings, interviews and whatnot throughout Sato’s career. 

While it’s easy to assume that I may have been influenced by the excitement of this rare screening, it’s no exaggeration when I say this is one of the best Sato films I’ve ever seen. …
