Mickey 17 meets Mufasa: The Lion King

Outrageous humour, memorable character moments, a perfect voice cast and a very plot driven story, but one that keeps evolving, advancing and elevating in clever ways. All leading to a gloriously, longer than expected, action packed climax.

Top 5 animated films of last year, it’s unfortunate it bombed.

Memoir of a Snail

I watched this again today just because I had a chance to see it on the big screen this time, and honestly I’ve never felt so emotional in a theatre. Maybe it’s the cinema experience, or maybe it’s because life has been really tough lately, but from the potatoes scene all the way till the end I just couldn’t contain myself. It was nothing like this when I watched it months ago at home and it’s rare for me personally to shed this much tears. So for how I’m feeling now, I’m giving this five stars. Deeply affected.

Crocodile Tears is a complex character drama mixed with some moving depictions of romance, regular instances of humour, and sprinkled with just a few scenes of the supernatural. It's confident and meaningful with its three characters written in great depth and detail, yet not all is revealed. The producer said this took seven years to make and it was quite a sight to see each filmmaking lab and grant in the credits, going year by year.

★★½ Watched

Watched this at the cinema and I’d encourage audiences to take note it’s actually more of a supernatural drama rather than studio horror. In fact there isn’t really fear of evil, where the main character (with an excellent performance by Song Hye-kyo) proactively seeks to cast out the demon and she’s never afraid.

The film has a very simple story that doesn’t evolve in plot, instead drawn out over two hours, and is hard to follow with certain scenes feeling…
