Josh Wood’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is a good movie but people who say it's the best sci-fi movie ever made must've been on some wack shit when they were watching it.
There is not enough time for the story of this movie. every plot point feels unfinished and the characters are shallow. I didn't feel satisfied with any story line as there just wasn't enough. This is reflected in the editing style of the movie which is quick and confusing. Throughout the entire movie there wasn't one shot that I was able to sit with and appreciate.
However, This movie does a lot of things good. Other than the unconventional plot points of the movie, especially with Paul as a character, The fight scenes and vfx were amazing. There were shots of sandworm riding that were very cool, if only the scenes lasted more than 10 seconds.
Overall, the strength of this movie is the original material and the weakness is the attempt to fit it into to short of a time.
